Fastlane Predictions: Nikki Bella VS Paige

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well. This Sunday the WWE will present the first ever Fastlane pay per view, live on the WWE Network (remember all knew subscribers get the whole of February free). It was announced late last year that the Elimination Chamber pay per view was no longer going to be taking place and even though I was upset about the news at first the reality of it is is that there is no need for the show any more. Anyway, this week is officially prediction week and witch means throughout the next six days I will be uploading my predictions for each match on the card. You all know by now this is something I do monthly for every pay per view and they seem to be pretty popular. None of the posts in my prediction series have been influenced by any of my followers or readers but I would love to hear what you all think. Wrestlemania season has also already started on my blog. I was going to start the series later but I decided to kick start everything almost a month early, so lucky you. The links to any recent posts will be listed bellow including my NXT Takeover Rival Review and Reactions and my recent post in Wrestlemania season. Finally, you can let me know what your predictions for the show are and what posts you would like to see in Wrestlemania season by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria. I will also be live tweeting on Sunday throughout the show

This Sunday, Nikki Bella will defend her divas championship against two time divas champion, Paige. After defeating the champ almost a month back in an amazing match on an Episode of Main event, the anti diva earned her shot at the title she once held. However, this time Paige has no one at her side, and with Brie watching on this weekend, in the corner of her twin sister, how will things work out for Paige? Will we crown a new champion? Will Brie give her sister a taste of her own medicine and turn on her right before Wrestlemania? And talking of Wrestlemania, how will this weekends title match shape things up for the divas division heading into the biggest pay per view of the year? Today we are going to be answering all of those questions looking back at what has happened over the past year, paying close attention to the past couple of months,  the possible outcomes and most likely storyline's heading into Wrestlemania. With so much to get through, let's jump straight into things.

It was back at the twenty fourteen Survivor Series pay per view that Nikki Bella became the divas
champion after a controversial win over AJ Lee. Now, I'm not the worlds biggest Nikki Bella fan, but I will be the first to admit that over the past year she has shown serious improvements both on the mic and in the ring and proven to be a worthy champion and whether you like it or not, two thousand and fourteen was all about the Bella twins. At the start of the year it was her sister Brie who was centre of attention, when she began working a feud alongside her real life husband Daniel Bryan, taking on the challenges of the Authority and demon Kane. After Bryan was forced to take time out of action due to a career threatening injury, Brie was given her moment in the spotlight when she entered a feud with Stephanie McMahon. Now, It's almost every single diva in the WWE's dream to feud with Stephanie McMahon, but when Brie was put centre stage she really did struggle at first with mic work and coming across convincingly in her promo's and segments. But when she returned from her fired storyline she showed instant improvements and was even given a match at the second biggest pay per view of the year, Summer Slam, against the one and only, Stephanie McMahon. It was at this pay per view that Nikki stole the spotlight. After spending months receiving punishments from the Authority, Nikki had had enough and double crossed her sister at the biggest moment of her career, setting up a feud between the twins. The storyline of Bella VS Bella didn't go down too well with fans what so ever, with beyond weak promos and segments, the girls struggled to prove they were worthy of being at the top of the roster. When they went one on one at Hell In A Cell, they admittedly  had a pretty good match and I was impressed with both of them. After Nikki scored the win on the night, Brie was forced to become Nikki's assistant for an entire month witch included the night of Survivor Series when Nikki became the divas champion thanks to Brie herself, when she kissed AJ distracting her and allowing Nikki to get a quick win. To be fair since Night of champions Nikki has been proving herself. Since the performance of that night Nikki has been improving week after week after week both on the mic and in the ring and by the time she became the divas champion she had proven herself enough she was worthy of the championship. Over the past couple of months Nikki has had an interesting ride. After picking up a bunch of losses from both Natalya and Paige, Nikki's run as divas champion was beginning to go down the drain a little. But she had two solid performance, the first was last month at the Royal Rumble pay per view when she teamed with her sister Brie to take on Natalya and Paige. The second was also last month, when she went one on one with Paige on an episode of main event. Now, if you haven't seen this match then you really do need to make sure you check it out because it was the perfect example of how important booking is. They were given around fifteen solid minuets witch meant they could really show what they are capable of and Nikki proved she really is a talented wrestler and had was probably her best match of her career.

Onto Paige now, and let's face it, she had just as much of a good year as the Bella's. Debuting the night after Wrestlemania, Paige made an instant impact when she took on the longest reigning divas champion for the championship right then and there in her debut and shockingly defeated Lee for the championship and became the youngest ever divas champion. From that moment on wards Paige proved every time she was put in the ring that she deserved to be the champ and earned her place on the main roster, defeating the likes of Tamina, Aksana and Naomi. When AJ Lee returned the two girls began feuding and for the fans this was an early Christmas present as a feud between the two had over the years became one of the most anticipated diva feuds in the history of the WWE. However, the WWE failed to live up the hype and the storyline fell flat very quickly, failing to meet the expectations. However, Paige did manage to become a two time divas champion in the process. Unlike Nikki, I am a huge fan of Paige, I have been for what seems like forever. She's only twenty two years old and to think she has achieved so much more than the Bella's have with only being on the main roster under a year, and she is almost ten years younger than them is a pretty big deal. Her unique look and in rig style is always something Paige will have on her side. I am a viewer of Total Divas and I love her on the show and to be honest I don't think it's affected her negatively at all. After her amazing win over Nikki on Main event a thew weeks back, Paige more than earned her shot at the divas championship.

I'm really hoping that this match is going to be a long one,or at least give them the same amount of time they had in their main event match because it was more than enough. What's so frustrating is not
everyone watches Main Event ant NXT and so they don't get to see just how talented they are and what they can do in the ring. Hopefully they get the time to shine because after a really weak build up they need a really good match to make up for everything. I think Brie is going to play a huge role. Her heel turn was completely out of nowhere and I do think they have a baby face turn for her around the corner. But that would mean she would need to turn on Nikki, witch of course makes sense. Nikki cost Brie a huge match last year at Summer Slam so it would just be giving Nikki a taste of her own medicine but I don't think there is anyone that wants to see another Bella VS Bella feud. It didn't work before and it most certainty would't work a second time round. I mentioned in a recent post that the most likely Wrestlemania divas match will be a match up between Nikki and Brie for the divas championship, even though I would really not like to see a match between these two at Wrestlemania, it does look like that's what we are going to get. Personally I would like to see AJ Lee VS Stephanie McMahon but it seems unlikely. I don't think Paige will suffer to bad with a loss especially if she has a strong performance and there seems no point in having Paige take the title because Storyline wise there's nothing for her.
