Predicting Where Recently released WWE Superstars Will Go Next

Last Thursday saw the return of Black Friday with nine WWE superstars released from the company including former champions, history makers and up and coming stars who never truly got their moment. Several names announced last week left me utterly shocked but in today’s blog post I’m going to be discussing where I think some of these names will end up following their release from the WWE.

Chelsea Green

The news that the WWE had let go of Chelsea Green really did bother me. She is someone I was really rooting for and was desperate to see thrive in the WWE. Of course, a couple of injuries did set Green back drastically and while there had been talks of storylines set up for her, they never made it to TV despite the potential they had. Now, I believe Green is a huge name for women’s wrestling and has plenty to deliver, just look at the small amount of work she did over in Lucha Underground to prove that point. As of right now, AEW looks to be the perfect fit for Chelsea. The All Elite Wrestling women’s division still is in need of more names and Green would be a welcoming addition sure to add depth and more interest to the division. Matches alongside the likes of Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander make for some major must-see matches that could put an even bigger and stronger focus on the AEW women’s scene.

Samoa Joe

Arguably the biggest surprise from the list of recently released superstars was Samoa Joe. The former champion, NXT star, top RAW talent and announcer is without a doubt one of the most popular names within the industry today and has been for many years! His initial signing with the WWE was a major deal in the first place and since his debut, Joe had been apart of so many standout matches against the likes of Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and more but we didn’t quite see him pushed to the very top spot where he truly belonged. Despite recent injuries, Joe was a standout and fan favourite over on commentary even working Wrestlemania days before the news of his release and so the announcement came as a major surprise. Now, there is no denying that once healthy and ready to the ring Joe still has years in him and so many dream matches await him. Of course, a return to IMPACT wrestling could be on the cards but there is no one I want to see join AEW following their recent WWE release more than Samoa Joe. An array of dream matches await Joe over in all Elie from challengers such as Omega to Moxley and Pentagon to Pac, the list is truly endless. The Wrestling veteran and fan favourite would make for a huge new signing to AEW and one so many are expecting to see.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce

Again, I was incredibly frustrated to see Bille Kay and Peyton Royce released last week. The WWE made a huge error the moment they split these two women up and despite Kay becoming a very popular fan favourite on her own and Royce showing serious potential the two didn’t avoid the list of removals last week. Now, I don’t’ have any doubts that these will go on to achieve big things. Royce and Kay have serious talent both in the ring and as characters and the WWE never quite showed them to their full potential both as singles stars and as a team. Looking ahead, moving to IMPACT Wrestling appears in my opinion to be the best and most exciting next step. The growing women’s tag team scene over in IMPACT will give these two an instant main attraction slot sure to go on and capture the Knockouts tag team titles. There is no doubt that Billie and Peyton will bring something completely new and exciting to the knockouts division and I trust IMPACT to show them in a light and push them in a way the WWE never got around to doing.

Bo Dallas

Looking back at Bo Dallas’ NXT career its crazy to see where he ended up and all the missed opportunities throughout his WWE career. From aligning him with real life brother Bray Wyatt to a single run worthy of being memorable to say the least. Now, Dallas is someone with a lot of in-ring skill and charisma and while I do not personally see him a top main event star I do believe there is way more to see from him than what we got during his time in the WWE, and I believe that given the time in the ring he could seriously provide fans with a match we are left talking about for a while! I would personally love to see Bo head to IMPACT Wrestling. With a fresh new character, I really feel he could ring something exciting to the table. However, I do also believe that retirement may be far more likely than Bo heading to any wrestling promotion. It’s been noted that the former NXT champion has been doing a great deal of work and focusing on projects outside of pro wrestling and upon his release its likely fans will hear of his retirement from in-ring action as he looks to work on other areas of his professional career.

Mickie James

There is no doubt about It, Mickie James is a future WWE Hall Of Famer and while I wish the WWE had handled Mickie’s last reign far better, I’m also not totally surprised to see her depart from the company. Moving forward it appears that joining her husband Nick Aldis over in NWA is what fans can expect from James. There are certainly fitting and exciting storylines to watch involving Mickie over in NWA however, I must admit that another run in IMPACT where collisions with some of the big, exciting names of the knockout’s division today would make for some serious must-see dream matches I really do hope we get to see some of those bouts take place! ROH is another place we must consider for James. Several previous rivals along with fresh names to challenge await James over in ROH where she could bring something exciting to the scene and work some fantastic must-see matches that remind why she is a true all time great and future hall of Famer but more than anything tells the world that she still has more to show in the ring and years left as an in-ring performer.
