WWE Superstars to Watch in 2021

 It is a brand-new year and I think it's safe to say we are all happy to see the back of 2020! As we enter a new year wrestling fans are set to see a new batch of exciting storylines, rivalries and of course, rising stars sure to make an impact. In today's blog post we are going to be carrying on my month of Wrestling predictions for 2021 by looking at some of the stars of RAW, Smackdown and NXT that we should all be watching for a big year is most certainly awaiting them!

Chelsea Green

Injuries and complicated booking decisions have resulted in a crappy start for Chelsea Green and her WWE career. Now, if you know me you know that I have been a big fan of Green for a while now and was excited to see her join the WWE a couple of years back and with bookings on the main roster as well as interesting moments during her time in NXT it's clear the WWE are keen on the rising the star it simply falls to booking her correctly and getting the character work nailed. There have been rumours of Green working an angle with Mickie James which I honestly think could not only bring out the best of her character work but also showcase the depths of her in-ring skills showcasing her to be an incredible wrestler with serious potential. I am surprised there was not plans for her to stay in NXT longer but in 2021 I’m really hoping we see a huge rising breakout star in Chelsea Green.

 

Angel Garza

A WWE superstar who really does have it all is RAW talent Angel Garza. From charisma to wrestling skills Garza ticks all the boxes reminding many of a young Eddie Guerrero. With enough time in the ring and better storytelling, Angel Garza could be a huge star wherever he goes and I truly do hope the WWE see what so many of their audience see in him. With talk of Eva Marie making a return to the WWE as well as rumours surrounding the former Total Divas star working alongside Garza fans could be in for an interesting dynamic that could go either way. Now, the RAW roster is stacked right now but Garza brings something different to any other superstar he works alongside and with potentially more ring time and character development he is sure a man to watch in 2021.

 

Bianca Belair

As my personal favourite to win the women’s Royal Rumble this year, Bianca Belair is a for sure name to keep our eyes on in 2021. With the WWE booking Belair to work alongside the current Smackdown Women’s champion, Sasha Banks in two tag team encounters to date it appears as though the WWE may be already planting the seeds for their future one on one collision. This is the match favoured to be one of the big ones for the women’s division heading into the 2021 Wrestlemania PPV but with Belairs already strong history inside the Royal Rumble could her Mania journey this year kick start strong at the first major event of the year? None the less, the EST of the WWE is growing in momentum and a serious of dream matches promises a standout year a head for Belair with a potential title reign insight.

Dexter Lumis

Despite an injury that took him out at a bad time Dexter Lumis was on a role last year and was a surprising breakout star of 2020. Standing out for his incredible and unique character work his intensity captivated audiences and allowed him to become one of the most interesting and entertaining stars on the black and gold brand. However, what has also allowed Lumis to be such a breakout star is his in-ring talent. Throughout the past twelve months he has worked brilliant bouts against the likes of Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Cameron Grimmes and Damien Priest to name just a few. He has previously had his sights briefly on the North American championship but in 2021 he is sure to be a favourite in terms of the next star to hold that exact championship. We have already seen him booked as the host of an NXT special to kick start the new year and I really do believe this is the start of a strong twelve months for the intense performer that is, Dexter Lumis.

Raquel Gonzalez

I have become a major fan of Raquel Gonzalez. Her collisions against the likes of Rhea Ripley put her on the map but it was a standout performance and major victory inside War Games that turned the tables massively and got fans talking. The powerhouse is growing in popularity and showing to be an incredible performer thanks to longer matches booked and more opportunities coming her way. 2021 looks to be a huge year for Gonzalez where fans can expect to see more of her in the ring as a singles star, a potential split from Dakota Kai and possible main roster appearances at events such as the Royal Rumble. Personally, I would love to see Gonzalez and Kai capture the Women’s tag titles but seeing how poorly the NXT Women’s division is used in this area it seems a little far fetched to make that prediction. None the less, Gonzalez had a strong 2020 but the next twelve months ahead look to be even bigger and stronger and we can be certain that she is about to turn heads on a whole new level!

Karrion Kross and Scarlett

Karrion Koss and Scarlett have been making an impact from the moment they arrived on the scene. Their haunting characters and every detail around how they have been booked has been nothing short of brilliant and yet the best is still to come. While an injury stopped Kross from having a title run last year we can be sure it is only a matter of time till he crosses paths with Finn Balor in what is sure to be an instant classic! The inevitable title reign for Kross is sure to be epic with fantastic storylines and intense character work we can expect a new era in NXT brought to us by Kross and Scarlett. Personally, I will be interested to see if we get any in-ring work from Scarlett and 2021 will show us more of these two as characters, the direction the WWE plan to take them in as a duo and their purpose and what they truly are bringing to NXT as individuals.
