Teams I Want to see in the first ever Womens Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
During last weeks special NXT New Years Evil show the announcement was made that for the first time ever we would see a women’s Dusty Rhodes tag team classic. Fans were already aware of the fact the tournament would be making a return to the black and gold brand this year but during the live special a week ago general manager William Regal revealed that history would be made in 2021 when the tournament would also be brought to the women’s division. In Today’s blog post I’m going to be discussing some of the teams I hope to see take part in this latest first ever for the female talent and touching on the brilliant things we could see develop from this must-see tournament.
Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro
The NXT Women’s division most certainly is lacking names
within its tag team area but one of the most legitimate, well put together teams
not only within the NXT Women’s division but the entire WWE female roster is
the duo of Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro. While we haven’t seen all too much
of them the exciting pair make for an incredibly talented and athletic team, we
are still yet to see the best of, and the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic could
be a brilliant way to change that! As one of the teams we can be sure will in
fact take part in the tournament the spotlight is sure to do wonders for the up-and-coming
stars whether they score the win. Longer
matches, more screen time and the chance to show what they are capable of could
result in a breakout performance for this team and hopefully starts them off
strong for a year that could be particularly good indeed for both Carter and
Catanzaro.
Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon
As we have seen from previous editions of the Dusty Rhodes
Tag team Classic we often see random pairings made including the team of Finn
Balor and Samoa Joe who went on to win the first-ever version of this tournament.
The women’s Dusty tag team classic is more than likely to see the same thing
done and an exciting duo I want to see work together in the coming weeks is that
of Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart. Of course, fans have seen these two women
work together already back in 2020 during the women’s War Games match up where
the two singles stars worked very well alongside one another. Blackheart and
Moon are two popular names within the black and gold brand and two stars who
have recently gained a lot of momentum and are more than likely set to have a
strong 2021 meaning I am confident we will see them involved in this tournament.
Their experience, exciting and thrilling move sets and popularity makes them a
genuine threat and could very well result in the duo being the favourites for
the win but a loss could also result in fresh rivalry between them sure to also
work as a major standout up and coming feud.
Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell
Another duo I am confident will most certainly take part in
this historic tournament is that of Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell who I also
have down as favourites to go on and score the win. We have seen an alliance
between these two women grow over recent months with newcomer Indi Hartwell
becoming a part of The Way faction where here character and popularity is
slowly growing. Now, there is still so much more to see from Indi and its hard
to judge her on the little we have witnessed but working this tournament alongside
LeRae will give her the experience and spotlight she needs allowing fans to see
more of what she can do in the ring. Candice has become one of the best heels
within the women’s division her presences in this tournament is sure to be a big
deal but she is a talent in serious needed of a win and some momentum. Winning
the first-ever women’s Dusty Rhodes tag team classic will certainly five her
the bragging rights she needs and add to the momentum of the Way.
Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir
It has been a hot minuet since we saw Jessamyn Duke and
Marina Shafir in action and I have no idea what is happening with both women
and their WWE careers in 2021 but the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic sure makes
for a brilliant way for both women to make a comeback. These are two talents we
have not seen much of and since Baszler’s call up to the main roster fans are
yet to see them make an appearance on any brand. Now, I personally, have always
wanted to see these two women make their presence felt within the tag division
and while they would not make for my personal favourites to win the Classic,
they would sure stand out as a dominant promising team. This would be a great
way bring them back on scene in dominant fashion and for their presence to be
felt strong enough before potentially going up to join Shayna Baszler later
down the line.
Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai
Now, the duo I will be one hundred per cent rooting for in
the Women’s Dusty Rhodes tag team Classic is that of Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota
Kai. I have been a big fan of both women for a while now, but Gonzalez in
particular has been a big talking point in recent months after scoring
victories over the likes of Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley. The powerhouse is
bursting with momentum at the moment she looks to be a serious 2021 breakout
star. Gonzalez and Kai have been a unified team for over a year now and have
grown in popularity but its time for them to seriously shine now and judging by
tweets and comments I’m not the only one backing these two wanting to see them
win this first-ever for the division. A win here would, of course, add to their
growing momentum but could also hopefully see history made once again for the
pair as I truly do hope we get to see them as tag team champions down the line.
There of course other women I am expecting to see take part
including the likes of Aliyah and Toni Storm and I’m very interested in seeing
what teams are formed and who will go on to score the win!
