Five NXT dream Opponents for Samoa Joe

 When news broke that the WWE had released Samoa Joe a couple of months back it sparked outrage and surprise amongst the wrestling community and very quickly fans began to speculate where the former champion would end up next with many predicting AEW to be the veterans' new home. However, a couple of weeks back it was in fact revealed that Joe had re-signed with the WWE however heading in a new direction in a decision that has left many excited and optimistic about his future. Returning to NXT Joe has adopted a new role and now stands alongside NXT general manager William Regal, calling the shots and making sure the black and gold brand runs smoothly.  Since making his presence felt in NXT once again fans have been teased with tension between Joe and several superstars on the roster and so today I’m going to be taking a look at some of the names I’m hoping to see Joe come face to face once he is able to return to the ring!

Karrion Kross

From the moment Samoa Joe made his return to NXT there has been clear tension between himself and the current NXT champion, Karrion Kross and fans including myself predict and hope a collision between the pair is around the corner with many believing  Joe could go on to dethrone the dominant champ. These are two powerful and intense performers who bring an element of surprise to their move set. Both heavy set men, they can dominate any man they stand in the ring with and typically have the upper hand in terms of strength and power however, Kross and Joe also present a skilled arsenal that sees them use intense submissions and striking abilities to their advantage! I personally cannot wait to see the experience of Joe collide with the skills Kross has picked up from his time traveling and competing around the world and his MMA background. Here fans can expect an explosive unpredictable collision between two incredibly talented and diverse powerhouses and let's be honest, what an epic match-up and storyline this is  to see Joe make his in-ring return to and with the seeds being planted as we speak we may not be too far from seeing this dream match booked! 

WALTER

Okay so I may be cheating a little by including an NXT UK star but considering we often see WALTER make an appearance on the black and gold brand and the sheer fact that this is a huge dream match I had to include it! Walter vs Samoa Joe is something I have wanted to bear witness to for a long time now! Their collision promises to be hard-hitting, brutal, and with a traditional old-school feel to it. Here we are very unlikely to see modern-day flippy sh*t and instead a slightly slower-paced start with spots so strong and intense that visible marks will be clear on the bodies of both superstars. This is sure to be a very physical encounter that presents fans with something completely different from what we typically see today and for sure an unpredictable end result. 

Timothy Thatcher

I honestly believe that Timothy Thatcher is one of the most painfully underrated superstars in the WWE today. For over a year now we have seen    Thatcher work some incredible matches both in singles and tag team action and there continues to be a list of dream encounters I want to see him take part in. On that list is a one on one against the man himself, Samoa Joe. Now, this is one that really does not require a big intense build and storyline, simply booking this match randomly on an episode of NXT could result in a potential match of the year candidate and once again show everyone just how brilliant of an in-ring talent Timothy is. Both men know how to punish their opponents with submission holds and with Thatcher now having more popularity to his name this is a bigger draw then it may have once been an intense and physical contest promises to put Timothy on the map and ensure fans are treated to a very special slower paced match up. 

Pete Dunne

Dream matches do not come much more must-see than Pete Dunne vs Samoa Joe. Two intense, hard-hitting talents capable of punishing their opponents with brutal submission holds and basic wrestling skills executed with perfection this is a collision I am desperate to watch. While Dunne is considerably younger than Joe he does not sit as an underdog here and in fact this appears to be a hard-to-call contest that could go either way. There is no doubt in my mind that this could easily go on to become a standout match fans talking about long after it takes place and one that truly cements the career and star power of Pete Dunne. Here fans can expect a heel Dunne to shine and push Joe when he makes his return to the ring. Both men are likely to be sent to their limits in what will surely be a match full of intensity, strong strikes, and moments that have us on the edge of our seats. Mix in the attitude of Dunne and the experience of Joe and we have something very special. 

Adam Cole

And finally, we of course have Adam Cole. Over recent weeks since Joe made his return to the black and gold brand there has been clear tension between Cole and Samoa Joe with physical contact being made, verbal confrontations, and a clear problem between the two men it really does appear As though the seeds are being planted and it's only a matter of time until Joe attacks Cole and a match is booked between them. As of right now I’m expecting to see a story continue to build here with Joe using his position of power to gain the upper hand and torment Cole resulting in an attack the finally sees Joe return to in-ring action. Cole is likely to be the star Joe has his return match against and I honestly cannot wait to see this absolute dream match take place especially with the build it could potentially have. Both men have been incredibly influential during their individual times on the black and gold brand and their collision is something fans have been waiting to witness for a very long time now.
