This past weekend IMPACT Wrestling presented one of its biggest events of the year, Slammiversary and the PPV highlighted plenty of important facts! The evening consisted of fantastic match ups, surprise returns, title changes, and a fantastic main event but what did we learn from Slammiversary 2020? Today we are going to be discussing exactly that looking at some of the biggest takeaway, lessons, and important moments.

Knockouts Tag Titles WILL Make a Return

It appears it’s only a matter of time until IMPACT Wrestling brings back the knockouts tag team championships. It’ been several years since these titles were removed a decision that made sense considering how small the division was looking at the time and admittedly has looked throughout recent years. However, it's clear that over the past couple of months or so there has been a huge spark in the number as fans have witnessed a serious growth in the division. The knockouts scene is looking bigger and stronger than it has done in an exceptionally long time with many claiming this I the most stacked the division has ever looked. New comers such as Kylie Rae, Tasha Steelz, and Kimber Lee have joined top stars including Tenille Dashwood, new champion Deonna Purrazzo and Taya amongst many to form a huge knockouts division.
During the Slammiversary PPV a Gauntlet match was booked that highlighted just how big the division is but what was also touched on was how many teams there were amongst the knockouts. Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz, Taya and Rosemary as well as Havok Neveah were amongst just some of the duos highlighted with the announce team also touching on the discussion and rumors surrounding bring back the knockouts tag team titles. The timing is most certainly perfect, and it would be a fitting next step pushing the division forward.

Moose Really Does Have it All

The IMPACT Wrestling roster is looking incredibly stacked with a variety of talents presenting fantastic characters and matches but if there is one man who stood out more than anyone this past Sunday it was Moose. This is a man we really have seen grown since joining the IMPACT Zone and it's incredible to see just how far he has come! In recent weeks and months, the character development has been amazing with Moose standing out as one of the best and most convincing heels on the roster. At the Slammiversary PPV Moose showed from his entrance to his gear to his performance in the ring that he is a man that has it all, charisma, insane athleticism, power, speed, and a persona that has you hooked. While he may not be the real true champion, he carries himself exactly like one and tick every single box in what it takes to not only be a top star but a world champion.

The Tag Division is Growing Massively

The IMPACT Wrestling tag team division has been an area of concern for a while. Current Champions the North have been leading the division for a long time now and have grown to become one of the companies best in history and a standout on the wrestling scene today but the lack of teams as well as random pairings of singles stars throughout the past year has made the division feel weak and small, however, the Slammiversary PPV gave fans clear indication that all of the above was changing. The return of the Motor City Machine Guns as well as the debut of the Good Brothers has left a huge impact on the division! These are two big-time names that are sure to shake up the tag scene drastically over in IMPACT. This has been an area the company has needed to work on for a while and these new names are a sign of better to come with fans now able to expect to see more matches, bigger storylines and growth in numbers for the division.

Deonna Purrazzo Is Getting the Top Spot She Deserves

Many wrestling fans have been following the career of Deonna Purrazzo for quite some time now and there can be no denying that she is one of the best technical wrestlers on the scene today! When she was signed with the WWE so many including myself were relived and incredibly excited for the former indie star who had made it clear that this is where she had been fighting to head to for so long, however, it became evident very quickly that things were just not turning out the way so many expected. Purrazzo was not used to her true potential and we did not see that big-time push many fans expected and she would be released earlier this year. Of course, it did not take long for IMPACT Wrestling to snap her up and the company has wasted no time making sure she stands out as a top play for their knockout’s division. At the Slammiversary PPV Purrazzo stepped into the ring with Jordynne Grace to compete for the knockouts championship and not only did he score the huge win (arguably the biggest of her career) but she worked one of the best matches of the evening. Now, IMPACT has very quickly done with and booked Purrazzo how she deserves and how many fans expected to see and it's clear that we are looking at a game changer for the division. Purrazzo has become a major star in the IMPACT zone and it's clear not only from her win but the time she had and the performance we witnessed that she is finally going to have the spotlight she deserves.

A New Era Has Begun

The Slammiversary PPV consisted of plenty of returns and debuts. The likes of Eric Young, EC3, and Motor City Machine Guns were among those to make a comeback to the IMPACT zone, but we also witnessed former WWE Superstars Heath Slater and The Good Brothers debut for the company in memorable fashion. A backstage segment saw Slater and Rhyno reunite while Anderson and Gallows made an appearance in the closing moments of the show proving all three have already made an impact and inserted themselves in angles, we can all look forward to. The main event alone highlighted how stacked the roster is and overall, there was a feel of a new era. IMPACT royalty in EC3 and Eric Young have brought back familiarity to the company but new arrivals have shaken up the roster and the bigger picture I proving that IMPACT wrestling is now a serious promotion within the war of wrestling companies at the moment. Fans have been discussing all things AEW and WWE for the past year now but Slammiversary proved to be a statement, a message and it was all noticeably clear, they have joined the party and will be turning heads massively! With a stacked and exciting knockout division, new arrivals many may have expected to head to AEW and incredible storylines IMPACT wrestling has got everyone talking and they look to become a true rivalry and a dark horse promotion to keep your eyes on.

Heath debuts in Impact Wrestling and Slammiversary 2020

Now, there, of course, were so many other things we could have taken away from this PPV. From the key role Tommy Dreamer is proving to play within the roster to Ace Austin’s character development and the ongoing rivalry between him and Dre but overall, what we can see here is that IMPACT wrestling is not playing games! There is a sense that this is a young fresh roster full of stars with incredible talent while also having experienced names filling out the company. The PPV was most certainly a success and has sent a clear message. These are exciting times for the brand, and I cannot wait to see what the coming weeks and months have lined up.
