WWE Matches We Can Expect to see in 2020

A new year means new possibilities in the world of pro wrestling and after twenty nineteen provided
fans with must see collisions across RAW, Smackdown and of course NXT its time to take a look at what we could very well expect to see over the next twelve months in the WWE. With changes sure to be made in terms of the state of each roster including main roster call ups and new arrivals twenty-twenty promises to give fans more epic collisions and rivalry/storyline highlights but just which names can we expect to see go one on one this year?

Kevin Owens vs Adam Cole

In twenty nineteen Kevin Owens made a brief return to NXT when he joined the team of Dominik Dijakovic, Tommaso Ciampa and Keith Lee to take on the Undisputed era in what was one of the bigger surprises of the year back at NXT Takeover War Games. As we kick start the year with both Cole and Owens on separate rosters there is still hope and a likelihood these two names could collide one on one in twenty-twenty. The pair had excellent chemistry during their War Games collision and with Owen’s presence resulting in a loss for The Undisputed Era at the Takeover event there is a feeling of unfinished business. There is no denying that this could make for an epic must see match not to mention a match of the year candidate and with Cole along with the rest of the Undisputed Era likely to make the move from NXT to the main roster a collision with Owens is a must and an excellent booking decision for a debuting Cole to either RAW or Smackdown LIVE.

Tegan Knox vs Dakota Kai

Personally, I’m predicting Dakota Kai to be one of the big-time breakout stars of twenty-twenty. With many confident she will not only go on to collide with new NXT Women’s champion Rhea Ripley later in the year but could also even dethrone the Aussie champ Dakota Kai is a name many are expecting great things from this year. Another rivalry in which we can expect to see Kai shine is a future collision with Tegan Knox. Previously working as a tag team and presenting their close friendship to the world it was a huge shock to see Dakota turn on Knox and the rest of her team at War Games taking out her now former best friend. Both women are incredibly talented but have had their setbacks during their young careers meaning there really is so much story here. I believe we are yet to see the very best of both women but when they inevitably meet at some point this year fans can expect an awesome match up and a brilliant storyline to match that puts both women on notice.

Drew McIntyre vs Brock Lesnar

Now this is a match that I have wanted to see for quite some time now and with twenty-twenty being so important for McIntyre its vital that the WWE give him a big push and book him in those huge matches that could truly turn his career around. Since returning to the WWE main roster McIntyre has had some real up and down booking moments but he unfortunately ended the year on a low that has left many wondering what is next for McIntyre. Now, the WWE have already gotten things wrong with Drew in the past and this second chance they have been given is slowly proving to show history repeating itself. Of course, McIntyre still has great star power and potential and with the right booking could become a major face of the company this year. Colliding with Lesnar is a huge deal! McIntyre makes for one of the most legit contenders to Lesnar and his WWE Championship. At this stage such booking does appear to be rather far fetched but there is time and a big opportunity here to turn things around drastically.

Becky Lynch vs Shayna Baszler

While we did see Becky Lynch and Shayna Baszler collide at Survivor Series in triple threat competition in twenty nineteen it’s a one on one between the pair that fans want to see this year. The two have plenty of chemistry and the potential for this to be a huge standout of the year. Baszler currently sits as a fan favourite to not only meet Lynch inside the ring at Wrestlemania but to go on and dethrone the Man. There is every chanced this match could stand out as a career highlight for both women and with the Four Horsewomen vs Four Horsewomen match still in the background of everyone’s minds there is a huge interest here.

Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt (The Fiend)

A match that while isn’t on my personal list of dream bouts is Roman Reigns vs the Fiend Bray Wyatt. This is a collision that truly does feel inevitable. As two of Smackdowns biggest names today and with Wyatt having completely control over on the blue brand it’s only a matter of time before we see these two superstars collide. Whether Reigns goes on to dethrone Wyatt or not there is potential here for this to be a very in-depth, personal and controversial storyline. We have seen from the past what these two can deliver in the ring and we know they are capable of providing show-stealing collisions but with both men in different positions to where they were the last time they met in the ring what can fans truly expect from a one on one between the big dog and the fiend in twenty-twenty.

There really is so much great potential for big-time show stealing matches to take place this year and there are endless possibilities in terms of what could go down as a match of the year candidate. The WWE roster is forever growing whether it be on RAW, Smackdown, or NXT and with the foundations being set for so many epic collisions to take place this year it looks as though twenty-twenty could be very exciting for the WWE and fans!
