AEW Stars Who Must Become Champion in 2020

The AEW Roster is stacked full of amazing diverse talent and as a result, there is an array of future champions making an impact today! Current title holders Chris Jericho, Riho and SCU have set the bar as the first ever title holds in All Elite Wrestling but with the competition so incredibly high it's only a matter of time before new names are crowned champion. However, with that being said, it's clear that there is a select few who are in need of a title reign in twenty-twenty more than others whether it be for storyline purposes, character development or for the growth of the company itself and its those names we are going to be focusing on today.

Kris Statlander

One of the surprising rising stars in AEW right now has been Kris Statlander. Coming out of nowhere this is a woman who has been making one heck of an impact becoming the new number one contender to Riho’s AEW Women’s championship and defeating big-time fan favourite in Hikaru Shida. Her performances in the ring have been incredibly impressive and Stalander has most certainly grabbed the attention on of fans watching. With that being said, Kris has also picked up the attention of Brandi Rhodes and Awesome Kong and we have been witnessing a story develop that there really does have potential. Now, there are endless reasons as to why Stalander must capture gold in twenty twenty and quite possibly on this week’s episode of Dynamite. Her dominant structure gives her a huge advantage over the champ but the storylines for Stalanders championship reign have already been set up. There is must-see competition sure to take place between Kris and Awesome Kong which could go on to see another major title change down the line. Kris is a huge up and coming talent with bags of potential and makes for the perfect fresh champion for the women’s division likely to add more depth and story to women’s division also.

Jon Moxley

It’s safe to say that Jon Moxley has been dubbed an inevitable champion in AEW from the moment it was revealed he has signed with the company. As one of All Elites biggest global names Moxley is an important factor on the roster and there has been an agreement amongst fans that he is a for sure future champion. Now, during the end of twenty nineteen it became clear that AEW may just be setting its audiences up to witness the unhinged Moxley finally capture gold when he became the number one contender and began to grab the attention of current titleholder, Chris Jericho. The detailed history between these two makes this a huge deal for AEW and a collision that has drawn fans in around the world. Now, we are still in the early stages of this storyline but it's evident the pair will eventually collide in the ring for the AEW World Championship and Moxley could very well walk out the victor.

He is arguably the biggest threat to Jericho’s title reign and makes for the perfect opponent but challenging for this championship at this stage of his career means the end result is incredibly important for Mox. While he could so easily bounce back from a loss here and return to the title scene at a later date there is no taking away the importance of him capturing gold in AEW in 2020. There is a big point to be proven here and this is the chance for Jon to truly stand tall as the top talent he really is.

Jurassic Express

The team of Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt and Luchasaurus really do have amazing potential! The trio brings something very different to everyone else on the roster not to mention they are incredibly likable and have most certainly won over fans. We have seen entertaining and standout moments from each member of Jurassic Express so far but there is still so much more to come from these guys! Full of energy, youth, fire and originality these guys are set to have a brilliant 2020 but capturing championship gold will be vital for these three. They have the fans on their side, momentum, and potential but will need more than likability to get further in their AEW careers. A reign as champions is sure to create an interesting dynamic for the tag team division not to mention their unique characters is sure to bring something completely fresh when it comes to tag teamwork in all elite. Luchasaurus is a man who has so much to offer and could go onto be a huge singles star but working as part of Jurassic Express opens big opportunities for him and as a trio, these guys really can go far especially as champions as they look to prove they are more than entertainment but serious champions.

Awesome Kong

We mentioned her name already today but Awesome Kong is also an AEW talent who would truly benefit from a reign as champion. Now, there are several reasons why All Elite should be looking at Kong as a name to crown future champion. For one she is one of the most well known female talents on the roster today and with the company doing the most character work with her than any other female star it's clear she is a for sure future champion. Her alliance with Brandi Rhodes while odd has potential and is giving the division more depth; a title reign would be incredibly beneficial for not only Kong and Rhodes but the women’s division. It's an area where AEW really does need to work on more and putting the title on Kong is sure to be an important booking decision that will impact the division well. It’s also key to push Kong as the top talent she is, the veteran and use the fact that she is one of the biggest female names on the roster.

Now, of course, there are so many more names who could benefit from a title reign in 2020 with the likes of Darby Allin, PAC and Britt Baker as fan favourites also but with competition so strong just who will capture gold this year? And who could go on to dethrone the current title holders?
