6 Potential Future Opponents For Bayley

In recent months fans have been introduced to a new Bayley. The current Smackdown LIVE Women’s champion has gone from all smiles, hugs, and positivity to a physical makeover, a new intensity and a bad guy persona. Now, Bayley unfortunately is still struggling to make that big impact and with the likes of the RAW women’s champion and Sasha Banks, for example, overshadowing her Bayley is still in a position where she is yet to show the very best of her new character. The women’s division is forever growing and there will be more challengers coming for the champ in the coming months but just who will be next to step in the ring with the new Bayley to challenge for the Smackdown LIVE Women’s Championship?

Carmella

One of the most likely future opponents for Bayley is, of course, Carmella. The two have a documented history with the pair having the friendship made very clear and a big part of their time in NXT. While the WWE hasn’t touched on their friendship as much on the main roster the foundations are there and there is clear chemistry between the two women. Carmella has come a long way in recent years (months even) whether it be from her in-ring performances or her character development, Carmella has become an even more popular name amongst fans and her growing momentum and position on the roster along with Mella’s history with Bayley means a collision between the two for the Smackdown Women’s championship is inevitable. Dethroning Bayley may not be a booking decision we see take place here but we have seen the pair collide before and with enough ring time Bayley could very well bring out the best of Carmella in the ring.

Alexa Bliss

While there are rumors of Alexa Bliss dealing with an injury there is no denying that there is plenty to keep Bliss busy whenever she makes a comeback and setting her sights on Bayley and the Smackdown LIVE Women’s championship could very well be what we see take place. The two again, have their history, however, with the roles now reverse in terms of the good guy bad guy positions we see a new and interesting dynamic. The WWE can also touch on Alexa getting payback in some form for Nikki Cross and with Bliss’ fantastic character work it would be brilliant to see her tap into provoking Bayley and bringing up the old Bayley fans are so used to seeing.

Sasha Banks

One of the most likely names to not only challenge Bayley but dethrone the current titleholder is of course, Sasha Banks. While the pair may be standing side by side at the moment and closer than ever their friendship has always been flawed and fans have been waiting for a full big-time rivalry between the two for literally years now. We all know just what these two are capable of providing in the ring when they are given time and while the lines between who would take on the role of the heel and who the face are blurred the potential for this to be a muse see rivalry full of epic matches is still there and watching the pair engage now it does feel as though it is only a matter of time before we see one turn on the other.

Sonya Deville

In my opinion Sonya Deville is one of the underrated and underutilised superstars on the roster today. She has come so far during her time with the company so far and is by far one of the most promising talents on the main roster, we all just await the time she gets to truly show what she is capable of. Now, it may be a while before we see Deville break away from Mandy Rose considering all the potential these two possesses as a tag team however, Deville has all the potential in the world to be a huge name on her own and taking on Bayley could prove exactly that. We have seen Deville compete in standout matches where she has impressed in singles competition against big time names and I would love to see Sonya given another big opportunity to prove a point and turn heads.

Nia Jax

It’s been a while since we last saw Nia Jax in action due to an injury but with the former champion set to make her return within the coming months could we see Nia come face to face with Bayley? Now, in my personal opinion I would much prefer to see Jax return in the role of a heel simply because I believe there is more for her in that position and she works it better, however, with that being said, the Smackdown women’s division would evidently benefit from having a talent like Nia on the roster and Bayley’s new character colliding with Jax could make for something pretty decent! It would most certainly be interesting to see how the two characters collide now in different roles.

Toni Storm

And the last name I’m going to be talking about today is an extra addition that I believe could put on one epic match up with Bayley given the chance. Now, I have no idea when or if we will see Toni up on the main roster but with a one-off match booked between them we could see something very special! I would love to see NXT and NXT UK talents given the chance to work a main roster match here and there and Bayley vs Toni Storm is a very promising encounter that could provide both women with one of the matches of their WWE career to date.
