Five Current WWE Superstars Who Would Have Been Perfect in Lucha Underground

If you know me, you know all too well that I am a huge Lucha Underground fan! In recent years I have spoken about the promotion across my blog and other platforms and in today’s post we are once again going to be exploring the action of the underground however this time we are going to be discussing give current WWE stars who would make a huge impact on the roster. Of course, there are several stars who have already worked for Lucha Underground but today we are looking at names who haven’t stepped foot in the temple but would fit perfectly!

Sasha Banks

Despite her time away from action in recent months Sasha Banks remain a name on everyone’s minds and she was a firm favourite when taking notes for this blog post! Throughout her career Banks has spoken about the influence Lucha Libre wrestling and stars have had on her own journey in the wrestling the world and we can see that whenever she steps in the ring. A diverse performer, Banks is a skilled wrestler, quick and intense with elements of a Lucha Libre style. I know I’ve mentioned before that there are dream matches that await Sasha over in the Underground but its also clear that this is the exact promotion Banks would shine on a whole new level and while her character may struggle in area’s it's here I personally believe we would see the best of her in-ring capabilities.

Kalisto

While he will never go down as the best talker in the WWE Kalisto is most certainly a massively underrated and underutilised talent on the roster today. Showcasing exactly what Lucha Libre wrestling is all about he is a fearless superstar with unbelievable speed and athleticism. It’s, of course, easy to compare Kalisto to members of the Lucha Underground roster considering they are ever so familiar but with that in mind it also means there are so many amazing possible matches awaiting him. It's over in Lucha Underground Kalisto would shine brighter than any and compete at a level we may never see him do so in the WWE.

Aleister Black

When we look at storyline’s, characters and angles booked over in Lucha Underground there is a real dark element to it all. The brand as a whole brings something completely different to the table compared to other wrestling promotions with storyline’s and characters more out there and intense than anywhere else. While we are yet to see things truly kick start for Black on the main roster and I believe there are some amazing things awaiting him I cannot help but feel as though Lucha Underground, in particular, would have made for a very fitting and exciting home for Aleister. With such an intense and dark character its clear he would have fitted in perfectly and the storyline’s and rivalries that fans could have seen him take part in would have been beyond epic! From colliding with the likes of Pentagon Dark and Mil Muertes to exploring his character in a way the PG era in the WWE cant there would have been so many amazing and exciting opportunities.

Ember Moon

Prior to signing with the WWE fans would have seen Ember Moon work amazingly well on the independent scene. Throughout her time with the WWE so far we have been able to see a fraction of what she is capable of with the best of her work coming from her time in NXT, however, there really is so much left to see and I cannot help but feel as though it may be a long time until we do see her pushed in the direction and given the time she really does deserve and with that being said I do believe that a brand and a roster like Lucha Underground would have been an amazing fit for Moon. Both her character work and seriously athletic background and skill would have fitted perfectly with the life of the underground. This is the exact place Moon would have stood out and had an amazing showing week after week and given one heck of a push!

Gran Metalik

In all honesty, I believe former Cruiserweight Classic star Gran Metalik is one of the most underrated and underutilised superstars not only in the WWE today but in the history of the company! Massively experienced and skilled this is a man not given a fraction of the time he deserves and never truly has the opportunity to shine properly. Overshadowed by stars more popular he is a prime example of just how much Lucha Libre is failed in the WWE. Of course, he has had his moments and during the CWC he had a phenomenal showing but since then the WWE has done next to nothing with him. It’s clear his Lucha Libre style and experience would fit perfectly of in the Underground but I also believe with the right direction if he was working with Lucha Underground we would have seen Metalik take part in matches considered some of the best of the year and the decade and possibly even go on to become the face of the company!

Of course, this was just a fun little post looking at some of the names I believe would have been such a great fit for Lucha Underground but I would love to know what you guys think and who you would have added to this list so feel free to leave a comment below or tweet me over at @TezangiVictoria.
