WWE Monday Night RAW Highlights

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! Last night we were presented with what was a rather strong episode of Monday Night RAW that saw Sheamus and Cesaro continue to attempt to work together as cohesive unit, Seth Rollins also made  another huge statement as he looked to gain more momentum on his way up to his Championship rematch, and Sasha Banks and Charlotte took the role of this week's main event and with the title on the line this was a sure must see! In today's blog post I'm going to be counting down the top five moments from this week's show. I mentioned last week and the week before that from now on I'm going to be sticking to Highlights and best and Worse Moments as weekly posts for both Monday night RAW and SMakcodwn LIVE and I will be sticking to full Review and Reactions posts for pay per views and live specials. This weekend the No Mercy pay per view takes place (something I will be talking about in more detail in tomorrow's Smackdown LIVE Best and Worse moments) and so I will be live tweeting throughout that show and a full Review will be uploaded next Monday. I will, of course, be live tweeting throughout Smackdown LIVE tonight also. I know I've been slacking lately with tweeting throughout shows but I'm trying my best to get back on it! As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including last week's NXT Review and Reactions. Finally, you can let me know what you thought of this weeks show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Lana Sets the Record Straight

While I may not be the world's biggest Roman Reigns fan I will at least admit that I have been loving his work with Rusev over the past thew months and there sure is no denying the fact that his wrestling skills are nothing short of fantastic. The poor character, however, is something that still angers me massively, and last night the WWE once again allowed Reigns to show exactly why he continues to get booed week in and week out. Pulling out that "I'm the guy" line once again (oh yes, it has made a return) Roman found himself back in my bad books and I was literally at one AM shouting at my TV screen yelling abuse at my screen. I've mentioned it before here on my blog and over on twitter but the WWE have this ongoing habit of two steps forward and three steps back with Reigns and that's exactly how it felt last night in that little moment. He was however soon interrupted by the ravishing Russian Lana who in my personal opinion saved this opening. I've spoken about it before but Lana really is one of the best female speakers in the WWE today and last night she really did prove that. Her confidence, passion and brilliant execution of her character really does entertain me and I tweeted out last night that I just believe she's brilliant. I have a blog post coming up where I talk about Lana in a little more detail so keep an eye out for that! I do like that the feud between Reigns and Rusev and I love the involvement Lana is having. What I didn't like was the ending of the opening segment. I really would have liked to have seen Rusev get the upper hand last night but I am looking forward to what is hopefully their final match up at Hell in a Cell in a thew weeks time.

Brian Kendrick Sends a Message

Brian Kendrick is one of my personal all-time favourite Cruiserweights. I was so glad to not only see him make a return during the Cruiserweight Classic but also seeing him make a return to Monday Night RAW. As one of the most experienced and popular talents in the division he has so much to offer and bring to the table and with his history and his backstory there is just so much the WWE can do with him and seeing him being used so well at the moment really has put a smile on mine and many other fans faces. After falling to TJ Perkins at Clash of Champions Kendrick sent a message to the champ moment after by head butting him and taking part in a series of backstage segments interviews bashing the champ and Cruiserweight Classic winner. During the show last night the two superstars collided once again in a non-title match and one of my favourite bouts of the night. The match started out with Kendrick holding his hand out for the champ to shake and after reluctently shaking his hand Perkins refused to give Brian a second to repeat what had happened at Clash of Champions only a week back and sent the former WWE tag team Champion flying out of the ring after a strong dropkick to get the action going. The champ was able to keep in control of the action proving why he's at the top of the division. However, the experience of Kendrick allowed the pace of the match to change and the moment shift in the favour of Brian who gained some control of the match showcasing his level of experience over Perkins. The closing moments saw Brian force TJ to tap out and after scoring a win over the champ we can only assume it's only a matter of time before Kendrick is given another championship opportunity. Like I said, I love that Brian is getting this little push. He is without a doubt one of the best characters and heels in the WWE today and his story and history with the WWE really are allowing him to shine and stand out in the cruiserweight division.

Rollins Puts A Crack in Jeri-KO Alliance

I think it's safe to say that the entire wrestling community can agree that Chris Jericho is currently working some of his best work ever! A long time favourite of mine I have to say that I have always been a fan of Jericho but at the moment he really has become one of my favourite characters on the roster. I could honestly watch him out people on the List of Jericho for the entire three hours of the show. The alliance of Chris Jericho and current WWE Universal Champ Kevin Owens is another thing I really have been enjoying and their mic work is something I could listen to all night long! Last night following a segment with the New Day, Jericho and Owens competed in what was a stand out tag team match up later on in the show. Throughout the match, Jericho and Owens were able to show that they are capable of working very well together as they had shown during last week's main event when they took on Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Despite the strong performance from the Canadian duo they were unable to pick up a win over the tag team champions thanks to Seth Rollins who played the role of the distraction. His brief involvement in the matchup was enough time for Big E and Xavier Woods to capitalize and pick up the victory pinning Jericho. After the match Rollins set out to prove a point and while Owens escaped a beating from Rollins he left his tag team partner and "best friend" in the ring to receive a pedigree at the hands of Rollins. Most of us can definitely see a little feud between Owens and Jericho somewhere down the line and with the cracks already beginning to show thanks to Rollins it looks as though that match could be coming around much sooner than we believe. For now, however, Rollins continues to make an impact during backstage segments and interviews in the build up to another title match between himself and Kevin Owens.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson Get Back on Track

If there is anything that has been annoying me recently it has been the treatment of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Since the brand split the pair really have been struggling and to be completely honest the WWE  have failed to present these guys the way they should be from the moment they walked into the WWE. Sure there was a pretty strong start but over time the WWE have continued to fail them and after falling short against the New Day on numerous occasions they have found themselves far from the position they should be in. Everything they have done with these two over the past couple of months has been completely wrong. From the whole Doctor Gallows and Anderson thing to the poor segments and terrible win/loss record on pay per view.  During the show last night Gallows and Anderson looked to gain some momentum when they took on the Golden Truth. A short match-up between the two teams allowed the Club to regain some much-needed momentum and get back on track however it's going to take more than a win over Goldust and R-truth for them to be in the place they should be in. What these two need is so make an impact. Take out a thew superstars backstage. A couple of mini feuds and stand out matches against the likes of Enzo and Cass would really help them get back on track and slowly build them back up to being worthy champions.

Sasha Banks Reclaims her Throne

It's been twelve years since we last saw two women compete one on one in the main event of Monday night RAW. All the way back in two thousand and four WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita competed for the Women's Championship in what was an iconic matchup in women's wrestling history and last night two of the brightest stars to come out of NXT looked to top their performance and steal the show once again. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that Sasha Banks and Charlotte are two of the most talented and impressive female competitors in WWE history and after competing in a handful of outstanding matchups the expectations were set very very high for their main event last night. However, the pair did not disappoint in the slightest and once again gave us a fantastic championship bout. Throughout a great deal of the matches, we saw Charlotte in complete control working on the lower back of Banks and using that to stop the momentum building up for the Boss. Unlike their previous one on one championship match on RAW Sasha didn't have to worry about Dana Brooke at ringside as moments before the match had started a backstage segment saw Bayley take out Charlotte's little sidekick. I would have liked if the commentary team mentioned that a little more and highlighted the fact that Charlotte didn't have Dana by her side this time round but the
action was so strong in the ring that for everyone at home it was difficult to even pay attention to the commentary at times. Now, while Charlotte was, of course, the heel in this match (and what a great heel she has been) she sure did have her moments where she made us all take a taste of some humble pie. There is no denying that Charlotte is a fantastic athlete and after some of those spots from last night including that phenomenal corkscrew moonsault from the top rope there is not a single fan that can say they don't at least respect her. Sasha had her own stand out moments with a quick strong start and an early suicide dive she got the action going fast and had everyone on their feet from the moment the bell rang. This was a brilliant championship match that proved once and for all that women can main event and steal the show. The closing moments were done very well with Sasha able to roll out of that cover from Charlotte to keep hold of the Banks Statment and after Charlotte was forced to tap out the Boss was once again crowned champ! I found myself completely gripped and entertained by the action throughout this match and when you add the video package and the backstage segment before the match it was all put together to make a fantastic main event. Whats next? I don't know about you but I would love to see these two go at it one more time and this time around maybe inside hell in a cell?

Personally, I really enjoyed this week's episode of Monday night RAW. It wasn't the best ever but it had some real stand out moments and some pretty decent storytelling and development. The main event was without a doubt the match of the night. Both Charlotte and Sasha tore the house down and out on a fantastic bout that will easily go down as one of the best RAW main events of twenty sixteen. As always I would love to know what YOU thought of this weeks show so feel free to leave a comment bellow or drop me a tweet at @TezangiVictoria.
