5 Superstars WWE Completely Wasted

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope I hope you are all well and good! It has once again reached that time of year. The dreaded month that sees every WWE Superstar not chasing after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in some way or another frightened out of their minds that they will join the Released list and become nothing more than a "we wish you the best of luck" guy or girl. It was a couple of weeks back that the WWE released a statement that verified the WWE departure of several talents including the likes of Damien Sandow, Cameron, Santino and Wade Barrett. Of course twitter broke into an outrage after hearing a certain fan favorite had been forced out of the company and it was this that was the driving force in today's blog post. I'm someone who spends a great deal of time moaning and complaining about the poor use of talent in the WWE in today's blog post I'm going to be doing a little more of that as I bring you five superstars the WWE Completely wasted. A list of brilliantly talented and promising men and women who World Wrestling Entertainment never really elevated properly. This is a post that will sure get many different opinions and as usual I would love to know what you all think! So feel free to leave a comment bellow or tweet me at @TezangiVictoria telling me which WWE superstars you think were completely wasted and mistreated. As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including my most recent RAW Review and Reactions post.

Damien Sandow
We kick start this weeks top five with the man who inspired this blog post in the first place, Damien Sandow. I remember first watching Sandow on Smackdown a thew years back briefly aware of his developmental work. He was someone I was instantly drawn to. His character was...different and his in ring skills were clearly something to watch. However it was obvious from the beginning that the WWE were never really going to have any big big plans for Sandow. In the years to come he did have some stand out moments. Several singles and tag team matches allowed Damien to become a popular superstar and he even became a money in the bank winner witch unfortunately he unsuccessfully cashed in. When he aliened himself with the Miz as his stunt double Sandow went from strength to strength and rather quickly became a fan favourite and one of the most over superstars on the roster thanks to his comedic take on the role. Every single week arena's across the world welcome Sandow with a huge reaction but despite the reaction he was picking up from the fans the WWE didn't end up doing much with him. Many including myself named Damien Sandow as the favourite for the second annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal but were once again left disappointed when the Big Show remained the last man standing. Yet again the WWE dropped the ball with Sandow and missed out on a huge opportunity to finally give him the push he deserved and we the fans wanted to see. Last week the WWE announced that Sandow had been released by the company and twitter went insane! Every fan knows what Damien Sandow is capable of and the fact that he was so popular amongst the WWE Universe meant that it made no sense what so ever for them to drop him altogether. Looking back at his WWE career Sandow was never truly given the time to shine and show what he was capable of. There is no doubt in my mind that given the time and opportunity Damien Sandow could have delivered a handful of brilliant matches and solid memorable storyline's. A couple of highlight moments throughout his career was not enough at all and despite not being with the company for as long as others to feature in the list, Sandow will go down as one of the most wasted superstars in WWE history and the company really should be disappointed in how poorly they used him throughout his time there.

Shelton Benjamin
If you have been reading my blog for long enough you will have read plenty of posts talking about Shelton Benjamin. It's no secret that he is one of my all time favorite superstars ad someone I will forever be talking about both in person and online. As a kid me and my brother would enjoy watching Benjamin's work completely captivated by his in ring work. There is no wrestling fan in the world that could ever deny the talent that Shelton Benjamin possessed. There are people I still talk to today who have nothing but positive things to say about Benjamin and he rates in many fans' top superstars. For years many have added Shelton Benjamin to their list of some of the most underutilized superstars in WWE history and that is something I have stood by one hundred percent and have mentioned a million times before here on my blog. He was another superstar who had it all yet the WWE were never able to capitalise on him. Throughout his career Benjamin provided some truly outstanding matches and performances, to this day people still talk about some of the amazing spots he delivered. He did hold the United States Championship and even picked up a victory over Triple H and there times were he appeared to go from strength to strength, a clear promising WWE Superstar. And then out of nowhere he ended up going on some kind of loosing streak that never worked. To be honest, when does a loosing streak really work? From that moment on wards he really did struggle. There were the odd strong matches here and there but the involvement of his mother in a storyline that actually saw her pass out during an angle with the Big Show was pretty much the sign of his career going absolutely nowhere. I will admit that I am one of those fans that are still very very bitter about how the WWE used Shelton Benjamin and I will always get talking about they should have used him. (keep in mind I wrote this post four months ago before Shelton's return was announced)

David Hart Smith
As far as perfect WWE Superstar go David Hart Smith is pretty much ticking all the boxes. Standing over six foot tall, weighing almost three hundred pounds, young, and the son of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Davey Boy Smith, David Hart Smith was the full package but for some odd reason was never pushed stardom in the WWE and a made a top superstar in the company. Signing with the WWE at the very young of twenty David debuted one year later and with his image and blood line he was a superstar destined for greatness. However, failed drugs tests meant that he was sent right back down to developmental. Later in his career Smith was aliened with Tyson Kidd and Natalya to form the Hart Dynasty, a team that I personally loved! With these three superstars all working together and coming from the family they came from any wrestling not into this idea would have been crazy. While they did go on to have some success capturing the Tag Team Championships and being booked in a couple of stand out storyline's the Hart Dynasty and DH Smith never got the big push and the time in the spotlight they deserved. Looking back I remember loving DH Smith and always captivated by his size and all round image. He was never given the mic time or the amount of time in the ring he deserved but he was a superstar that the young fan I was just loved watching. Even as a kid I hoped that to see DH Smith one day shine on his own and follow in the footsteps of his father but it never once happened. When you look at Smith you see talent and you see a big name top superstar with plenty of potential, the fact that the WWE never jumped on the bandwagon with him and made him a star baffles me and to this day I still think about how the WWE could of and should of booked both David's singles run and his tag team work with Tyson Kidd and Natalya in Hart Dynasty. There is no doubt in my mind that given the time, work , and attention David Hart Smith could have been one of the biggest most successful superstars in the WWE.

William Regal
Once again, if you have been reading my blog for long enough or have been following me on twitter you will be fully aware that I am a huge huge life long fan of William Regal. The English born superstar has been mentioned on my social media and here on my blog plenty of times before with nothing but positive comments bursting through your screens. He's the superstar me and my granddad would talk about for days on end and someone I personally looked up to for so many different reasons. His in ring skill and style was something that I was always hooked on and something that inspired me for years and still does to this day. There are plenty of times I have been lacking motivation and have questioned just how much I love what I do and going back and watching matches William Regal features in I have  been given the push that I needed. Now, compared to some of the names in this list and other posts I have written William Regal has not been in the worse positions and his career has not been the worse ever. Not only is he a king of the ring winner but he has also held the tag team championship, the Intercontinental and European Championship and the Hardcore championship. Sounds like a pretty brilliant career right? Well not so much. Throughout his lengthy career  Regal found himself stuck in plenty of comedic angles and storyline's and he's a superstar that I always was left wanting more from. With his level of skill and experience he is a  superstar that could of gone on to do much much more and leave a much bigger impact. Looking at his more recent matches against the likes of Dean Ambrose in FCW and Cesaro and Kassius Ohno have proven that he is an all time great and I think back now and I only wish that he was given even more opportunities and I cannot help but feel the WWE wasted a brilliant talent. It's amazing to see him going on to do so much behind the scenes and with the future of the company but he will always be known as one of the most underrated and underutilized Superstars in the WWE.

Drew McIntyre
And finally another all time favorite of mine, Drew McIntyre. Drew is a wrestler that I have been following for many years. A young superstar with an amazing look and fantastic in ring capabilities and skills he was always destined to be something special and there was clear from his early days in ICW (Insane Championship Wrestling, based in his home town of Scotland). In two thousand and seven he debuted for the WWE working for Florida Championship Wrestling in his earl days with the company. He started out brilliantly, perfect even. As a hand picked superstar he never went through the stages the likes of Jeff Hardy, Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan who of course organically top superstars he was hand picked and Vince McMahon himself even came out and told the world that Drew McIntyre was the chosen one, his gimmick throughout the early days of his time with the WWE. For a long time we saw Drew have a strong run. He picked up big victories over the likes of Kane and he did become an Intercontinental Champion. However after the WWE scraped the idea of
McIntyre winning the Money in the Bank Ladder match things went down hill for the young star. He briefly got back on track when he was aliened with Cody Rhodes, winning the Tag team championships but after that went south things didn't pick back up for him. Being apart of the three man band nothing good was coming his way. We all knew he was a talented young superstar with plenty to of potential but the WWE never did anything with him. Today Drew is one of the hottest talents on the scene. Competing in TNA as the top star there he is proving just how good he is and have shown the WWE that they really did fuck up with him. His work in ICW and TNA over the past couple of years have been fantastic and the reaction he picks up everywhere he goes has only proven even more the type of star he is. It's a shame the WWE never took him to the level he can go to and I will forever be wondering what the WWE could have done with him even today with the talent on the roster.

So that is my little list! I honestly had so much fun writing this post and I hope you guys enjoyed it! If you would like to see a blog post talking about five superstars the WWE are currently completely wasting than let me know and I will get on to writing that up for you guys. But for now you can have your say by telling me who you think the WWE completely wasted by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
