Current Tag Teams We Can Expect to see Split

In 2020 the WWE tag team division is stacked! Across RAW, Smackdown and of course, NXT we have some truly incredible duos (and in some cases factions) proving that we are most certainly in one of the best eras of tag team competition. However, as we all know, these superstars are not always destined to remain side by side throughout their careers and a turn is almost inevitable for many tag teams across the scene. With so much incredible talent today and the potential for so many epic storylines involving tag teams separating who can the WWE expect to go their separate ways and jump from tag team allies to bitter enemies next?

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville

There really can be no denying that Fire and Desire should have been tag team champions by now and there is every chance we could still see these two women capture gold together, however, they are one of the most heavily predicted teams to split in twenty-twenty. This has been brewing for a while now with many originally speculating that Mandy Rose will eventually turn on Deville in an angle that will see her go on to be a big standout heel within the women's division but in recent weeks it has become a popular prediction that Deville will, in fact, turn on Rose. The Otis/Mandy angle has seen strange reactions from Sonya and many fans have predicted it was Deville behind the mysterious text to Otis that would effectively ruin the date between Rose and Otis. Now, while I do believe there could be more booked for Fire and Desire I do believe both women will make for incredible singles stars and their rivalry could produce some of the best work we have seen from both women with big stars being produced.

John Morrison and The Miz

It really does feel as though its only a matter of time until John Morrison turns on long time friend The Miz. Morrison admitted in a backstage segment that he would have loved to have had a shock return at the Royal Rumble with new music and a surprise comeback, but it was clear his friend needed him, was this subtly setting the foundations? John Morrison went on to do incredible things when he left the WWE several years ago and the superstar, he is now is very different from the Morrison we knew back in the day. There is no better way to showcase how far he has come and the new kind of talent he is today than having him work an extremely personal and must-see rivalry with the Miz. Establishing himself as the new big heel of the WWE and gaining that momentum from such a big angle sets up an amazing new direction for Morrison and this rivalry in 2020 promises to be something very special indeed!

The Kabuki Warriors

There can be no denying the impact Asuka and Kairi Sane have had on the women’s tag team division and arguably the best women’s tag-team champions the WWE has seen so far (there is, however, still plenty of work to be done within the division). However, the two strong personalities and incredible athletes make for a dream opponent for one another and within the next year we could very well see the pair split and come face to face in what is sure to be an epic rivalry! Since aligning with Asuka, Sane has grown so much in terms of her character work and has gone from strength to strength adding that bit she was missing previously. Asuka in a full heel run here would be absolutely fantastic and the angle here could result in a massive career breakout for Sane who has every bit of potential to walk out of this rivalry a major major player within the women’s division. The idea of this one on one match is very exciting indeed for these are two of the strongest all-round in-ring performers the WWE have today and when they eventually meet one on one we are looking at a potential match of the year candidate bout that could main event a PPV and go down as the best WWE encounter both women have had to date.

Angel Garza and Andrade

Okay, so in all fairness, we haven’t actually seen Andrade and Angel Garza share the ring let alone establish themselves as allies however, a recent episode of Monday Night RAW saw Zelina Vega take Angle Garza under her wing and with Andrade set to be out of action for a while it appears as though the seeds have been planted for a rivalry sure to shake things up big time! It’s clear the WWE is likely to have these two names work together for a short while under the orders of Vega in what could be a striking tag-team alliance that rocks the division, however, with Garza promising to be a huge star in the company setting him up for greatness sure involves a one on one rivalry between him and Andrade. These two for sure have their similarities and when we put them in the ring together along with the storyline potential this could be a huge match with potential to be a standout of the year and turn the careers around for both men.

Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins

Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins haven’t been together very long whatsoever, but their tag team alliance has already proved to be strong and effective capturing the RAW tag team titles and featuring weekly on RAW. Their momentum high and this huge career turn around for Murphy has been more than deserving! Such an incredible in-ring performer it's great to see the former Cruiserweight champion booked so well and pushed as a top star. Moving forward, a one on one between Rollins and Murphy makes for a dream encounter especially the back story we now have being built and the position Buddy now has on the roster. It seems inevitable that Rollins will turn on Murphy and when this turn does happen (or the other way around) fans can expect to see another potential match of the year candidate that truly highlights Murphy as a top main event star. Win or lose against Rollins this rivalry could cement Buddy as a new top major main event star and see him go on to even bigger things. 2020 has already proved to be a big year for Murphy and with a potential rivalry with Rollins down the line things are sure to get even better.

We have seen tag teams split with one superstar turning on the other throughout history but with so much talent within the division there is potential for some excellent rivalries between current tag team allies not to mention the storyline potential here. While of course it would be great to see some of these name stick together that isn’t the most realistic set up and there is likely far greater potential for several of the names above once they split from their partners.
