2020 CM Punk Dream WWE Opponents

Regardless of what you think of CM Punk there really is no denying the impact he has made in the world of sports entertainment. His recent work with FOX and appearing on WWE Backstage has sparked plenty of conversation once again while Punk himself has admitted its likely he will never wrestle for the WWE again it doesn’t change the fact that there are multiple WWE Superstars fans would love to see Pun collide with. Now, it's clear these bouts may not ever take place but the matches we are going to be discussing remain one on one encounters wrestling fans would surely enjoy and have been anticipated since Punk left the wrestling scene.

Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins and CM Punk are no strangers to one another. The pair have previously met in the ring both on the main roster and over in NXT whether it be in tag team competition or one on one however, with Rollins in a completely different position in the WWE today an updated collision between the pair makes for a true big-time must see! We know what these two are capable of providing in the ring but again considering the potential storyline angle today and the position Rollins finds himself in the stakes are higher than ever and this would sure make for a sellout must-see matchup for both the wrestling sure to take place and the storyline/build. It’s also key to note the comments Rollins has made since Punk’s WWE Backstage appearance, adding fuel to the fire.

Kevin Owens

A personal must-see in my books has been Kevin Owens vs CM Punk. With the two sharing similarities in terms of their attitudes, this is a dream collision that really does write itself. Both men are no stranger to confronting authority figures and saying exactly what is on their minds and that bad ass Stone Cold Steve Austin style attitude and personality has won fans over for both men. Punk and Owens are fantastic in-ring talents with bags of experience and their popularity and skill promises this would be a huge match-up sure to impress with the amount of character and charisma as well as the brilliant wrestling taking place in the middle of the ring.

Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns vs CM Punk is an angle that really does write itself. Roman Reigns is everything Punk was fighting against and a return angle that sees Punk target Reigns could spark a huge conversation and prove a major point. Making it clear that Reigns could never have the effect he once had and continues to have in without being involved in in-ring competition for years is a starting point with a deep-rooted message that dates back years. Unlike many of the matches, we will be talking about today this one I believe will stand out far more for its build and storyline angle rather than the in-ring competition but none the less it’s a must-see with a huge potential!

Adam Cole

You really cannot deny the fact that Adam Cole is one of the best WWE Superstars today. All-Round talent with charisma, mic skills, character and fantastic in-ring ability he does, in fact, remind some of Punk in those aspects. The pair are two talents who know to get a reaction from fans and are so massively popular with audiences around the world. This would make a huge must-see collision between one of the hottest talents we’ve seen in the WWE and the man controlling the now and the future. There’s also something pretty special and very CM Punk about him not making a return to RAW or Smackdown LIVE but in fact NXT and setting his sights on the NXT Champion Adam Cole. This is a dream collision for most wrestling fans and their similarities as well as how fitting NXT is for Punk makes this something I will be hoping to see for a long time!

Daniel Bryan

I’ve admitted in the past that I’m not the worlds biggest Daniel Bryan fan, however, a one on one match up involving Bryan and a returning CM Punk is something I would tune into any day of the week! With Bryan in a different position to where he was all those years ago, this again is a rivalry fans want to see and a match that promises so much depth both in the ring and as a storyline. Bryan’s recent character work that saw that eco-friendly gone mad angle adopted to his character worked amazingly well and in the process reminded so many of Punk's straight-edge stage of his character. It would be great to see a slower-paced match with true natural wrestling skill involved between two very passionate superstars with a huge story behind them.

AJ Styles

I think its safe to say that most dream CM Punk matches today involving WWE talent include AJ Styles. This is a match sure to without a shadow of a doubt draw in fans and sell-out arenas. Next year will mark sixteen years since their last bout and its clear both men have come so far since their last in-ring meeting. Punk and Styles are two of the very best of this generation and their collision is something younger fans need to see and another bout between them is a match up older fans would love to bear witness too once again also. It’s Styles I believe could give Punk his best match today in the WWE and draw fans in of all ages around the world.
