Women's Division Matches We Need to See

The WWE Women’s division is stacked to say the least! Looking across RAW, Smackdown, NXT, and NXT UK its clear the talent level is incredibly high, and we are seeing some of the best and most diverse female competitors in WWE history. With that being said, there are several dream matches throughout the division and while we have seen so many take place in 2020 alone there is still a select few fans are desperate to see but are yet to be booked and in today’s blog post we are going to be taking a look at some of those very matches.

Toni Storm vs Natalya

Natalya vs Toni Storm makes for a remarkably interesting collision! Neither woman is known for going up top or performing modern-day flippy monoverse but instead has a slower-paced move set that has intensity and flair that allows them to stand out. With Natalya’s submission expertise and Storms Japanese strong style background the pair make for an exciting duo to meet in the ring. There is a lot of experience on both sides here but Nattie’s history in particular means we could see something completely different from Storm in an intense, slow-paced match full of fantastic simple but effective wrestling that highlights both women’s strong points in what has potential to be a classic and career highlight for both superstars. We have seen these two women collide at the Survivor Series PPV in 2019 and I am defiantly hoping we can see much more from them in the near future.

Sasha Banks vs Candice LeRae

Two more women who also collided for the first time back at the Survivor Series PPV in 2018 are Candice LeRae and Sasha Banks and since then (and prior) I have really wanted to see these two meet one on one in a lengthy encounter! Two smaller competitors both women have a diverse entertaining move set that keeps everyone watching completely hooked. Throughout their careers, we have seen Candice and Banks work so many epic match ups that have cemented them as two of the best in the industry today and there is no denying that upon a one on one meeting we could be in for something very special! Both women are risk-takers and not afraid to push the boundaries and put their bodies on the line for the chance to gain the upper hand not to mention both superstars have worked higher risk more extreme encounters and when you combine what they are capable of doing in stipulation matches as well as their technical/wrestling experience and capabilities then we are looking at a dream match with match of the year potential.

Ronda Rousey vs Shayna Baszler

While we don’t really know what is happening with Ronda Rousey and her WWE future it's clear there are still several dream matches fans would like to see her take part in and a contest I have wanted to see the “baddest woman on the planet” take part in is a one on one against Four Horsewoman ally and former NXT Women’s champion, Shayna Baszler. The history between these two women is well documented with Rousey sitting at ringside in support for several of Baszler’s previous championship and big-time matchups. The two superstars have a great deal of history and similarities in terms of their style but with Baszler having the in-ring advantage here it would be very interesting to see what kind of contest the pair put on but also the reaction from fans. There is a simple story to be told here that is sure to captivate audiences and with the chemistry and Baszler’s slight experience advantage this could work as a very different kind of match up we have seen from Rousey in particular.

Io Shirai vs Asuka

Over the past year, we have seen Io Shirai and Asuka meet briefly to stand alongside each other but fans are yet to see the pair collide one on one on a WWE stage. It’s no secret that these two women are very much aware of one another and have worked together during their careers but fans have been waiting for the two to meet one on one since both women became members of the WWE roster. Two intense performers with different in-ring styles audiences are sure to be completely hooked the moment the Shirai and Asuka do face one another in the center of the ring. With the right story and build there can also be no denying that this is a match that could main event WWE show/PPV and again we are looking at a contest that could seriously change the game for women’s wrestling.

Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair

With both women apart of the same brand, it appears as though we are closer than ever to finally witnessing Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair one on one. Belair has been an extremely exciting addition to Smackdown since being drafted a couple of months back making an impact where possible and building momentum and there can be no denying that 2020 has been a strong year for the EST of the WWE. Now, Banks and Belair have faced comparisons for a few years now particularly coming down to their characters and to this day it's clear there is still a conversation to be had in regard to how similar their personas are. When it comes to in ring talent, however, there is a difference! Banks represents the traditional skilled wrestler with a slightly modern twist and sass while Blair is a true hybrid talent full of athleticism and power. Putting them in the ring together promises an exciting collision that will se two different styles complement each other so incredibly well we could be looking at a career standout for both superstars not to mention, it’s the veteran Banks who here could so easily bring out the best in Belair, push her to new limits, and show the main roster audience why Belair is a serious contender on the scene.

Of course, there were so many other dream WWE Women’s division matches I wanted to look at today but narrowing it down to these five has me very excited as it is! If you would be interested in a part two do let me know, however!
