NXT Superstars vs All Time Greats: The Dream Matches

When you take a look at the current stars of NXT, the names of the future there are some amazing talents we get to bear witness to. The skill, in-ring talents and charisma of these names means it’s impossible not to compare some of the talents of today to all-time greats and consider some of the dream matches between the stars of today/future and the some of the best of all time. Taking this into consideration just which current NXT roster members make for dream opponents for Hall of Famers and future Hall of Famers?

Beth Phoenix vs Bianca Belair

As two of the most dominant women of their generation Beth Phoenix and Bianca Belair have everything it takes to create something very special in the ring. With Belair’s athletic skill, speed and wrestling ability as well as her strength she makes for a serious challenge for the Hall of Famer. Beth is famous for being one of the most dominant women in the history of the WWE Women’s division and a match like Belair promises one heck of an encounter. The experience of Phoenix matches with the versatility of Belair makes this a close call match but overall one that could make for one epic encounter that changes the career of Belair. I speak in this tone because with Beth making a return to the ring earlier this year who’s to say this match may happen in the future.

Johnny Gargano vs Shawn Michaels

Again, Gargano has faced many comparisons to the all-time great that is Shawn Michaels Their heart and passion for the wrestling industry is unlike any other and is on clear display whenever they have stepped in the ring. It’s so obvious that this is a dream match for many wrestling fans with their diverse and intense move sets making for a dream collision! Their similarities are striking and that goes beyond their passion for their work. The two superstars are true performers in every sense of the word and what fans be sure they would get from a matchup between these two is a classic, pure wrestling match up that highlights two incredible pro wrestlers who in their careers have won the hearts of fans worldwide.

Candice LeRae vs Lita

Candice LeRae is a most certainly a current favourite of mine and has been in the world of women’s wrestling for a while now. Her speed, heart, athleticism, fearlessness and wrestling skill make her the perfect WWE Superstar and a for sure future champion. Looking at female talents past and present its clear LeRae could take part in fantastic matches with several superstar’s past and present but its childhood favourite of mine Lita who tops the list! The matched athleticism, skill and speed of these two women means that when meeting in the ring fans can expect to see an almighty showdown. Both women have a fearless nature that means high-risk manoeuvres, a hardcore edge and classic pro wrestling would be guaranteed in this encounter. Let’s not forget the experience of LeRae coming into play making this matchup even more evenly matched and unpredictable.

Brett Hart vs Adam Cole

Adam Cole is yet another massive personal favourite of mine and a hugely popular name on the black and gold brand today. The current NXT Champion has been on fire since his arrival to the company and in his time so far has competed in several standouts, match of the year style bouts. Similarly, to Brett Hart, Cole has a way of captivating an audience wherever he goes and delivering fantastic in ring bouts time and time again. Standouts of their time Cole and Hart is intense performers who together in Brett’s prime could have delivered a true classic collision. Full character and charisma as well unbelievable wrestling ability I don’t doubt for a second that this makes the list of dream matches between a current superstar and a Hall of Famer in their prime.

Triple H vs Tommaso Ciampa

Anyone who knows me knows that I have been the biggest Tommaso Ciampa fan for a while now! He generates a reaction from me unlike any other and back in the day it was Triple H who had this exact same effect on me as a young fan. In a recent interview former World champion, Triple H revealed that one of the current NXT stars he would love to face would, in fact, be Ciampa, a talent he would go on to claim reminded him of himself. The comparison between the two is evident without a shadow of a doubt. Both intense, fearless, skilled stars they carry with them great charisma and similarities. However, the cruiserweight mentality of Ciampa would hands down give him the edge and a slight advantage here. He’s an experienced talent with a diverse move set. He’s comfortable keeping things simple but can pull out tricks and deliver spots that remind us this was a man who once was in the running to becoming the first cruiserweight champion. I would love to see these two big-time favourites of mine collide in the near future for its simple one on one contests as well as Extreme Rules style matches that make for massive must-sees between them!

And that is just a few names on an endless list! The stars of today and the future are killing it right now and proving a huge point but when we look at the all-time greats of the wrestling world its clear we could have seen some truly epic encounters, some of which we could still see today.
