Why AOP and Seth Rollins Should Align

Last week during Monday night RAW AOP made a huge statement when they attacked Kevin Owens during the main event while sparing Seth Rollins. The evening also saw Rollins look to work the role of a heel once again attacking Owens further following a night of heel Rollins antics. A week later and there has been discussion amongst the wrestling community regarding what awaits both the Authors of Pain and Seth Rollins in the coming months but just why should these three names come together and possibly create a brand-new faction for the WWE?

Seth Rollins Works Best as a Heel

While regardless of working as a heel or a babyface Seth Rollins is incredible in-ring superstars and no one can take away his unbelievably talented wrestling ability, however, it also cannot be denied that the former Universal Champion works best in the role of a heel. It’s here we see his character work shines the best with fans dubbing his character as a stale and boring for months now while sporting the position of the top babyface of the WWE. Moving forward, its vital Rollins continues to explore working as a heel. Aligning himself is one of the most villainized tag teams on RAW today makes for a brilliant fit.

Rollins History in Factions

We all know that the Shield was one of the best Factions in WWE history. Reigns, Ambrose Rollins created something so new and unique that it connected with fans and made history. Rollins was forever a standout within the Shield, and he brought something entirely different to Shield brothers. Keeping all that in mind and Seth’s history with factions we know that he can work great within a team when that team fits him. He’s also aligned himself with the Authority in the past and while not the most trustworthy he is a man who can bring out the best in himself when he works within a faction and we do see the best of his character too when he has aligned himself with other superstars.

Needed for AOP

In my opinion, AOP is the most underrated tag team not only within the WWE but the wrestling scene today. Injuries and poor main roster booking have set them back and left so many fans forgetting just how good they but with their recent return looking good so far hopefully we are about to see their luck turn around and AOP’s potential alliance with Seth Rollins could lead to a huge opportunity. These guys need something new and exciting but simply giving them that typical monster booking of taking out jobber tag teams and local competitors they need something big and teaming with Rollins is a huge deal. It’s here we will be able to see them given actual purpose outside of the tag team division, it gives them a heavier spotlight, more storyline involvement and the chance to work big time matches. We’ve seen AOP have two managers in the past but an alliance with Rollins is a very new direction with great possibilities.

Something new For Rollins

For a while now fans have been heavily criticizing the former Universal Champion, Seth Rollins. With stale and boring character work fans have grown frustrated with Rollins and how he has been used with so many including myself losing interest in the man the WWE have been quick to dub as the top babyface of today. For a long time now, Rollins has needed something new and fresh and last Monday’s episode of RAW looked to open the doors for exactly that. We know that Rollins works best in the role of a heel as we have already touched on but aligning himself with an elite rising tag team like AOP is very interesting and ticks a lot of must boxes for Rollins. He is in need of something fresh that can make fans feel something towards him. This differs from what we’ve seen from Rollins in the past but remains a simple and effective way to give Seth a lot of heat while also booking him something genuinely entertaining that gets fans talking about him once again instead of rolling their eyes.

Opening Doors for AOP

What the Authors of Pain really need is the chance to show the WWE Universe what they are capable of and while consistent booking works and strong showings within the ring what we really need to see from them is stronger character work and aligning themselves with Rollins could potentially open the doors for exactly that. Here they can showcase more character but what this pairing also does is open doors for the future for what is an incredible tag team. From potentially going on to become RAW tag team champions to competing in huge stipulation matches such as TLC this alliance allows fans to see just what these two dominant superstars are capable of and show the WWE universe that they are strong contenders for the future of the division. With several months of consistent work alongside one of the biggest names in the company could set them up for the future cementing them as one of the best teams within the WWE today.

AOP is a seriously underrated tag team within the wrestling scene today. They have plenty to bring to the table and all they need is a big-time push and the time in the ring to show what they are capable of; aligning themselves with Seth Rollins allows the pair to have the opportunity to standout and be given a major spotlight. There are plenty of creative options for this potential alliance and everyone involved is sure to benefit from a possible allegiance.
