Top 5 Becky Lynch Matches To Date
There is no denying Becky Lynch
has become one of the biggest names in pro wrestling today. The face of the WWE
Women’s division, a history maker and a fan favourite Lynch has climbed the
ladder in recent years going from underdog/dark horse to one of the key figures
in the biggest wrestling company today! Throughout her career Lynch has been a
part of some amazing match ups against an array of superstars but looking at
her career so far just what have been the best Becky Lynch matches to date?
Lets travel back through Becky’s time in NXT, Smackdown and RAW and PPV bouts
and discuss those that have stood out the greatest.
Vs Sasha Banks (NXT Takeover Unstoppable)
The first match I saw that drew
me to Becky Lynch and honestly changed my opinions of her was the one on one
NXT Women’s championship match up against Sasha Banks at Takeover Unstoppable. These
were the early days of the women’s evolution and it was new to see women competing
at this level. Prior to their one on one encounter the pair worked alongside
one another as a team and looked to get their hands on gold in other standout
bouts but it was Banks who got their first and Lynch acted as one of her first challengers
for the title. Their history, the chemistry between the two women and what we
had already seen from the women’s division in NXT set the bar high but what we
got was something no one could have predicted. This was the first time we saw
the depths of Lynch’s move set and her passion came through. We saw her story
being told and she won over fans massively during this encounter with a
standing ovation come the end of the evening. This was the match that turned
things around for Becky. It was the night she made her mark and proved she was
a special talent with plenty more to come.
Vs Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks
Wrestlemania thirty-two was an
historic night for women’s wrestling. We saw women go from Divas to superstars,
a new championship introduced, and the female talent steal the show in what was
arguably the best night of the evening. The end result did divide fans but it was a
night that was so vital in the women’s evolution and Lynch played a big role. It
can be difficult to make an impact and make a triple threat work showing that
everyone has a place and with many claiming this should have been a one on one
between Banks and Flair Lynch had to up her game and she did exactly that! She
gave the match an edge and that something a little different. She was an
underdog and had a fantastic showing in yet another important part of women’s
wrestling history in the WWE.
VS Charlotte Flair (WWE Evolution)
Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair
have collided many times during their career both in NXT and on the main roster,
but it was their last woman standing contest at the historic WWE Evolution PPV.
The match that stole the show the two women put on what was considered by many
to be the WWE match of the year as the pair took things to new heights and
showed what women can do in the ring to a new level. As two superstars
fantastic at competing in pure wrestling bouts that showcase their athletic
skill and special abilities in the are of submissions it was brilliant to see
them work a more hardcore encounter. Using their surroundings to their full advantage
the two women put on a show-stealer that played a vital role in Becky’s journey
to becoming the man. The spots throughout the match were brutal but made for something
incredibly entertaining. The style of this match was so different to what we
are used to seeing from the women’s division to this day and while there were
so many bouts between these two women to document its this one in my opinion
that goes down as the best.
And Charlotte Flair vs Kabuki Warriors
One of my favourite matches of
twenty nineteen was the TLC but involving Lynch and Flair vs the Kabuki
Warriors. While this didn’t do much for the women’s tag team titles or the
division the wrestling and the action throughout this match was very special
and extremely entertaining. This was an action-packed encounter that truly
belonged in the main event. There was so much history between the four women
involved and the TLC stipulation meant we saw the very best from these
incredible superstars. We saw some unique setups throughout that brought something
different to the table and the build and history between the women involved
added to what made this so special!
VS Sasha Banks (Hell in a Cell)
Now, this could very well be my
favourite Becky Lynch match to date. There are amazing history and chemistry
between Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch and so, of course, this was a total must-see
that promised to be very special indeed! Upon returning to action Banks set her
sights on Lynch and the RAW Women’s championship and while both the build and
the end result were questionable and sure divided fans but the action that took
place was pretty freaking awesome! Banks’ experience inside HIAC came into play
and worked in her favour and we saw a great mix of wrestling and more hardcore based
action focusing on using the cage and objects. The length was great, the story
being told throughout the encounter was strong and overall there can be no
denying this was a match that had everything! It's one I have re-watched plenty of
times since and remains a standout of twenty nineteen and a career highlight
for both women, particularly Lynch who reminded us how badass she is!
There, of course, are so many other
matches I could have included in this list! The one on one against Asuka at
Royal Rumble 2019, the mixed tag team match involving Seth Rollins alongside
Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin and a recent encounter with Rhea Ripley at NXT but
what makes your list and what is your favourite Becky Lynch match of all time?
