RAW Review and Reactions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good. So as we start another week last night was of course Monday night RAW and we were treated what was yet another pretty awesome show and today I'm back with my RAW Review and Reactions blog post. I'm going to be taking you all the way back through last nights show, reaping all the action telling you what I thought of every single, match, promo and segment in full detail. There is a lot to get through in today's blog post so I don't want to waste too much time but before we get into everything I have a couple of updates and reminders for you. I just want to let you guys know that because it's NXT month on my blog right now and will be until towards the end of August there may be a couple of weeks that I don't upload a Smackdown Review and Reactions blog post but I will be uploading an NXT Review and Reactions blog post every single week throughout the season as part of NXT month. Talking of NXT month I haven't yet uploaded a full big blog post for the season just yet but I have uploaded to Reviews. I have decided that I will upload the first proper post either later today or tomorrow. The post will be my top five TNA stars that will be a great addition to NXT. It was the first one that I wrote and I cannot wait to get it uploaded for you to read. I will link bellow any recent blog post including this weeks RAW Review and Reactions and my Battleground Review and Reactions post. You can let me know what you thought of this weeks Monday night RAW by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

This week's Monday night RAW kick started with Stephanie McMahon, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, and of course, the birthday boy, Triple H. I did predict the show would kick start with the Authority so the start came to no surprise last night. Hunter started the opening segment talking about the two thousand and fifteen Summer Slam pay per view where it was announced that the show will no longer be a three hour pay per view this year but instead four hours. So my fellow British fans we shall suffer greatly in August. The also of course hyped up the main event of Summer Slam witch of course is a one on one match between the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. The attention then went onto last nights actual show were four huge matches were announced including; the Big Show VS Dean Ambrose, Paige VS Sasha Banks, Randy Orton VS Kevin Owens, and Charlotte and Becky Lynch VS The divas champion Nikki Bella, and Alicia Fox. So we were in for a great line up and I loved all the announcements. Things were looking to be going in a good direction, with Seth Rollins cutting a pretty good promo too but then of course John Cena's music hit. Now,  I don't know if it was the mood I was in last night or what but I was not in the mood for John Cena and the moment he's music hit I went instant bad mood and started moaning. I just wasn't in the mood for any Cena promo last night so I was more than delighted to see that it was short words from the Untied States Champion. By the end of the segment it was announced that Cena would be defending the US Championship against Seth Rollins later on in the show. They may have left the idea of Rollins defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Cena last night but we can more than expect it to take place at Summer Slam. I'll have a little moan about this later but just so you know I'm hating this idea and I'm hating this feud already and it's only been less than two weeks.

The first match of the night saw Dean Ambrose go one on one with The Big Show. I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of the booking decision at first. I was kind of hopeing for better for Ambrose and was expecting him to take on Luke Harper after what we saw happen during last weeks shows. But after a while I got used to the idea and it didn't seem as bad as I thought it was. Of course I want to see Ambrose booked stronger but I still believe that the WWE wouldn't be stupid enough to fail Ambrose so I figured that it was okay to book him not so strong at the moment because he's guaranteed a great future. I know, my mood changed pretty quickly last night and very frequently. I want to mention how I was happy that the Big Show was actually booked better this week. I have a thew mixed opinions on Show right now. I've managed to convince myself that having the Big Show as the next IC champion might actually be a pretty good idea. I will defend that idea in another blog post in a couple of weeks to come.  I just think that him holding the title right now would be the best way for him to get back on track and have him leave the WWE with a dominate run off he's back. What I hated about this match was Miz on commentary. I wasn't in the mood for he's voice last night at all but I do like that they are continuing the feud between them while Ryback has been out. The early highlight of this match was the Big show ripping the shirt of Ambrose and leaving him bare chested. There were no ladies complaining about a shirtless Dean Ambrose last night what so ever. Even though Ambrose started this match with all the momentum and taking control keeping the match fast paced it took one little thing for the Big Show to take control and from that moment Ambrose really struggle to get back in control. Every time he seemed to be just about regaining control, Show would have something much stronger waiting around the corner with the serious strength advantage coming into play. The game changer of the match was the DDT from Ambrose. From the moment he hit that he managed to find he's way back on top but it didn't really last too long to be honest. I was actually surprised with how long this match went on for and just how decent it was. Show was very very dominate and really on he's a game last night. One of my favourite parts of the match of course was the moment Ambrose untied the shoe laces of Show and he was stuck their tying them back up again. I wasn't sure on the ending. I didn't really like it what so ever. I wasn't expecting a count out ending at all so that was a surprise but not a good one. I just felt Ambrose looked kind of weak but there was a good story throughout so I wasn't to fussed and Ambrose did leave with a smile on he's face so I was pretty okay about it. He may have lost the match but Show got a strong victory while Ambrose still managed to leave looking great. And shirtless. Don't forget that part.

Adrian Neville was in action next and you guys know how much I'm loving he's feud with Stardust. The comic book style storyline is satisfying all my needs in the world. I literally could not be any happier. I know full well that I'm enjoying it way more than I should be but I just love the idea. It's different, it's fun, it's entertaining and it attracts everyone in the WWE universe, young, old, male, female, long term fan, short term fan, it's something we can all love and enjoy. And I think the way it has been done so far is great. Last night Neville went one on one with Fandango witch I didn't like one it. I know that Neville's in a fun feud right now but it doesn't been he's booing in the mean time should or needs to suffer. He still could have been put in a stronger match last night. The last time I watched Fandango compete he as a baby face so that didn't last very long. Anyway, I kind of just went with the match and let myself just watch what was going on and see if I could be impressed at any point. The match however was so short and so predicable and repetitive that there was nothing to really enjoy but Neville looked just as clean and fluent as ever. The best part of this part of the night of course was the promo from Stardust. I freaking loved it. I'm sucker for a comic book villain and Cody as Stardust just plays the role perfectly and so convincingly. I'm loving how Cody is using some of he's fathers phrases from he's past promos, it kinda made me want to have a little cry. It's just such a great thing to do and it fitted really well with the promo last night.

Up next divas action and former two times divas champion Paige went one on one with the current NXT Women's Champion, Sasha Banks. This match is literally music to my ears. When I first really started getting into NXT and paying more attention to the product these two were always my favourite divas to watch. Paige was the first NXT diva I watched and loved straight away and Sasha Banks is someone who I have always believed in and so it's been amazing seeing her grow over the years. When Paige went up to the main roster I lost a lot of love for her. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a huge fan and she remains one of my favourite divas right now or in fact of all time but her booking and the way she came across made me beg for the old, real Paige for weeks and months. The diva revolution however has allowed her to go back to the real anti diva role and I'm back to loving her. Sasha and Paige have had their fair share of matches in the past and after Sasha made her tap out last week the booking made perfect sense. For the first time in a long time diva bookings are making
sense and we are seeing matches flow into one another just right. Banks and Paige have great history like I said so whenever they share the ring together it's magic. They have a great deal of chemistry, their styles compliment each other, and they know how to push one another to their limits to bring out the best in each other, so I was hopeing for a long match between them last night because thy were more than capable doing so. It also feels great being excited for divas matches and segments and not using them as bathroom breaks any-more. And it's about time too. It was good seeing a backstage segment before the match. It was a little messy and could have been done better but the fact that the girls are getting more TV time is a good thing and so I'm not going to go complaining too much about the quality of the segment just yet but it is something we need to see change. The divas aren't used to have to cut promos and be involved in segments so we can't give them too much of a harsh response I suppose. Paige took early control of this match and stayed in control for quite some time. The match was very fast paced and really physical. Paige was a serious stand out last night. She showed so much power and strength and brought a great deal of character to the match too. It was great seeing her booked in such a strong match. She was very very impressive last night. I also want to mention how disappointed I am that Sasha isn't bringing the NXT Women's championship to RAW like Kevin Owes did the NXT Championship. Anyway back to the match and while Paige did spend a great deal of time dominating the match Sasha sold every move perfectly and made getting beaten up look good! Throughout the match one thing that was clear is that Sasha is one amazing heel. She honestly is the best diva heel right now in the WWE in my opinion. I don't think that's really debatable right now to be honest. It was great seeing the crowd really get into the match again. They were one hundred percent a Paige loving crowd. This was honestly an amazing divas  match. Really strong, really entertaining and I enjoyed it so so much it literally got so much better when Sasha picked up the huge win. I could not have been happier with the result. I was expecting Paige to pick the win up last night so it was a nice surprise. I'm loving how Sasha is being booked right now.

Rusev and Summer Rae were in the ring next with a little segment. I strangely am liking this whole thing. I hated it at the start I really did but it's grown on me a lot recently and I'm starting to really like it. Summer is playing her role down to perfection and I'm really enjoying it. The segment last night was class and actually ended up being one of my favourite moments of the night. Last night saw Rusev provide Summer Rae with two gifts, a cut puppy and a fish...The moment between Rusev and Summer Rae was great but what was even greater was when Lana came out and just slayed. Rubbing Summer's face in the fish and slapping Rusev round the face it was all just amazing and fitted so well. I actually can't wait to see where it all goes and I'm interested and entertained and that is what matters. It's also a clever way of carrying on the diva revolution, because let's face it, it was all about Lana in that segment. I was disappointed there was no Ziggler though.

Tag team action next it was a fight to become the number one contenders for the Tag Team Championships as Los Matadores took on former NXT Tag Team Champions the Lucha Dragons. I'll be honest I wasn't really looking forward to this match that much. I wasn't expecting a lot from the match but it sure was going to be entertaining. The four superstars could easily have us all wowed and impressed so we were bound to see some pretty amazing stuff but I wasn't expecting a lot. I am amongst many just waiting for the Lucha Dragons to become the tag team champions. I do still think that by the end of the year they will be the champs they just need more time. I think before they do have the titles around their waste I think we will see the New Day become two time tag team champions. Anyway, the match last night was very very fast paced and there was a lot going on so I was entertained I just wasn't into this match as I was other matches that took place last night but it was fun. I was actually really quite impressed with Los Matadores. They were really on their a game last night and were so dominate throughout the match. I don't think I have ever said anything good about these guys on my blog before so last night really was a night of firsts. I would have liked to have seen a little more of Kalisto in the ring last night but as always he was amazing when he was competing. Talking of amazing, the Prime time players were on commentary for this match and they were freaking hilarious. Towards the end of the match the New Day came down to the ring and made my night but they also caused the distraction and the Lucha Dragons picked up the win.
There was then an in ring Promo from Bray Wyatt who of course came down the ring with Luke Harper. It was really good seeing Wyatt on RAW last night and cut a promo actually in the ring instead of backstage. It has a much better feel to it. The promo itself was blood amazing. We can always expect magic when Bray is on the mic and he did not disappoint in the slightest last night. However, what I really really liked about this part of the night was being able to here from Luke Harper. We hardly get to hear from him and so it was great hearing from him last night. I have nothing bad to say about this promo what so ever. I freaking loved it. Hands down one of my favourite promos of the entire year. Possibly an all time favourite.

Another divas match was next. That's right, two weeks in a row now we have had two diva matches in one night on Monday night RAW. Finally, we are seeing some big changed and I couldn't be happier. The diva revolution is in full swing and last night The Divas champion was in action on Monday night RAW for the first time since the Revolution kick started and she was teaming up with Alicia Fox to take on Becky Lynch and former NXT Women's Champion, Charlotte. Once again, I was really looking forward to this match. I know I sound like a broken record but it really is so refreshing seeing more diva matches on the weekly card and being so excited about them. It's been years since we were able to expect a lot and be interested and excited for a WWE main roster divas match. I'll be totally honest, I wasn't expecting as much from this match as I was the first divas match of the night but I was excited for it and I was really interested in seeing how things were going to go. I was really disappointed to also not see Tamina in action again last night, she really needs to start actually playing more of a role and letting her presence known because right now she's just there and all the other girls are taking over. It was really goo seeing Alicia in action last night considering we haven't seen much of her in recent weeks too.  Becky and Nikki started out the match and it was fairly split with Becky taking control eventually and quickly making a tag to Charlotte. Throughout the match Charlotte and Becky worked really really well together as a team and to be fair the same could be said for Nikki and Alicia as well. One thing I'm not liking is how team Bella is working as heels and baby faces.  Last Thursday on Smackdown they were clearly working as top baby faces and last night it was a whole different story working as big heels, I really don't like it and it's something that seriously needs to change and be sorted out. Alicia was impressive last night too. Whenever she shared the ring with Charlotte in particular. Those two will have an amazing one on one match at some point. In the end Becky picked up a much needed victory and I was so happy for her.

Kevin Owens was in action next as he took on Randy Orton in one on one action. I actually predicted this match in my RAW Prediction post (witch will be linked bellow at the end of the post) so I was looking forward it. The booking suited me just fine and I thought it made sense, it wasn't completely random and it felt like the best thing for both superstars. You just know that these two are going to deliver and put on a great match even though we have never seen them go one on one before last night. I was expecting a great deal from this match and just like everyone else my expectations were extremely high. I was delighted to see Kevin booked so strongly I just hope that the WWE keep it up in the weeks to come and throughout he's career. Now, the only way that things could have gotten better is having Sheamus on commentary so he just made my night last night he really did. There was very early tensions between Owens and Orton in this match and it remained all the way through. Owens brought a lot of character to the match as expected. Working the crowd, taking it to Orton, winding up the commentators and the WWE universe and all round being pretty freaking amazing. He kept me completely entertained throughout the match and he had yet another impressive performance. The match was just as highly physical as expected. There wasn't much chemistry between them but it was still a good match. I didn't like how short the match was. I would have preferred it to have been a little longer. I was expecting Sheamus to cost the match and so I wasn't surprised at all I just wish that the match was a little longer. I loved Cesaro coming out an coming tot he aid of Orton. We can expect a tag team match next week or on Smackdown. I really enjoyed this part of the show. Loving both feuds and I thought it all tied together really well and just worked perfectly.

And finally, the main event witch saw John Cena defend he's United States Championship against the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins. I wasn't over the moon about this match. Like I said at the start of today's blog post I wasn't really in the mood for John Cena last night but I did know that it was okay to expect a lot from this match and expect to be treated to a great main event. Rollins and Cena have had some outstanding matches in the past and have great chemistry so I was
interested in seeing just what these guys were going to give us last night. I'm not going to lie, I did think that the match was beyond predicable that was never going to stop it from being a great match and I was proven right. Rollins took control at the start of the match getting the upper hand right from the start but the full match was very back and fourth. No one was really in control for too long before the other got some momentum and changed things around. But for me Rollins was the top stand out, I just felt like we got more from him and he kept me more entertained. The one thing I did moan about last night with this match was that I did't feel as though there was as much character in this match as the Owens/Orton one but it was still a strong wrestling match and I did get into it a lot despite being super tired. Cena being busted open gave the match a more real, intense feel. It was defiantly a match that the longer it went on for the better it got and the more interested I got. It was a really great main event and my mum was really into the match so it must have been pretty freaking awesome. I knew from the start of the show Cena would win the match so I wasn't surprised when Rollins tapped out. What Seth needs now is to start looking stronger and picking up more victories before Summer Slam because he really needs it.Altogether I thought it was another really great show. I don't know if I'm just being easily pleased lately but I enjoyed the show so much last night. I thought the bookings were strong. Almost every match was of a good standard and had a meaning behind it. Bray's promo, the first divas match and the Lana, Rusev, Summer Rae segment where my favourite parts of the show. I'd rate this weeks RAW an eight out of ten. But I want to know what YOU thought. Let me know what you thought of last nights show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
