Top Ten WWE Superstars of 2018 : Part Two

What a year two thousand and eighteen have been? From one of the biggest signings in WWE history to NXT raising the bar once again to an array of standout matches and storylines, fans have had plenty to enjoy over the last twelve months as well as heartbreaking and shocking storylines. Throughout December I have been focusing on looking back at what has been an exciting year in the world of pro wrestling from some of the best matches, moments, storyline's and of course superstars of the year and in today's blog post we are going to be listing the top five of those superstars. We have already looked at the standout men and women of NXT and part one of this blog post has already gone up and so today will be a total focus on the best of the best. All of this months special of the year post will be linked below and you can tell me who your WWE Superstar of the year is by leaving a comment or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

The Miz

If you know me then you know that the Miz is one of my personal favourite WWE superstars. Twenty eighteen has been yet another year the former IC champion has made an impact, stood out, and worked as one of the most consistent and entertaining all round WWE superstars. A standout singles bout against Seth Rollins on PPV, one of the best told storylines with Daniel Bryan, and an array of brilliant promos and segments, the Miz has continued to shine a spotlight on himself proving to be a major contender for a future WWE Championship run. Putting the Entertainment in World Wrestling Entertainment the Miz has worked both excellently in the ring (proving himself in an area he is forever criticized for) but of course still remaining at the top in terms of character and mic skill.

Ronda Rousey

One of the greatest and biggest signings in WWE history took place this past January when Ronda Rousey arrived on the scene. Debuting at the Royal Rumble to close an historic main event the arena went crazy for one of the most important and popular women in sports today. Since that night Rousey has gone from strength so strength surprising and impressing fans and critiques around the world. Taking part in some of the best women’s division matches of the year Royse has worked memorable bouts against the likes of Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, and Nikki Bella showing to have grasped the concept of the wrestling world perfectly but also shining in the storytelling aspect of this industry during rivalries throughout the year. Her debut match at Wrestlemania remains a standout of the entire year and her collisions with Stephanie McMahon were impressive every single time. Rousey has taken the women’s division and evolution to brand new heights and clearly been an important aspect and while no one can predict what the future holds for her in the WWE her debut year has been one of the most surprising and impressive of all time.

Johnny Gargano

There’s really isn’t many who have done it better than Johnny Gargano this year. An array of five-star worthy matches, a standout storyline of the decade, and forever one of the most over stars in all of NXT, Gargano has taken fans on an emotional ride throughout twenty eighteen. From January all the way through to December, Gargano has remained the all-around standout of NXT delivering in every aspect of his role. Surprises, twists, and entertainment, the man who at one point would have so easily been overshadowed has climbed to the very top of the food chain changing the perspective of what a top WWE superstar looks like. Gargano’s story throughout the year has been the best of two thousand and eighteen and the next twelve months look equally exciting.

Seth Rollins

It’s been difficult for the main roster stars to shine just that little bit bright than the men and women of NXT especially with the standard being so high this past year, however, if there is one man that has done the job its Seth Rollins. One of the most consistent WWE superstars Rollins has worked phenomenal match after phenomenal match taking on the best of the best including the likes of Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Finn Balor, and Drew McIntyre amongst many. Delivering fantastic bouts against all of the names just listed as well as an epic Iron Man match and a historic and impressive performance in a seven-man gauntlet match wrestling for over an hour on an episode of Monday night RAW, Rollins has raised the bar of what is expected from a WWE superstar. And IC and a tag team title run Rollins has worked as one of the most important figures on Monday nights but also put the Wrestling in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Tommaso Ciampa

When it comes to the top spot this year there really is no other fitting superstar to take the position than Tommaso Ciampa. Upon his return to action, Ciampa sported a completely new look. Shocking fans with his shock appearance at NXT Takeover; Philadelphia the former CWC competitor again attacked his long-time friend Johnny Gargano only moments after an intense title match main eventing the show itself. From that moment onward Ciampa set his sights on gold and of course, revenge. A new look, a new attitude, and a new drive, Ciampa collided with Gargano for months competing in one of the greatest told WWE storyline’s in recent memory and in the process working as part of several highlights matches not only of the year but again, in the history of the WWE. Main eventing episodes of NXT, Takeover events, and making a major impact Ciampa soon earned his way to a title shot and as he said, it only took one shot for him to walk out as champion. Upon his defeat over Aleister Black Ciampa continued his unique reign of dominance. The new character went down amazingly well with brilliantly done tweets, storytelling, and phenomenal modern-day heel work, Ciampa has had fans hooked both through his ring work and character development creating a new and unique twist to his on-screen persona.

Five-star quality matches, a phenomenal storyline, and a totally gripping character, Ciampa has gone from strength to strength and there is no denying he is one of the get figures in the future of the WWE but also one of the most exciting and all rounded superstars and pro wrestlers on the scene today!

And those are the top five WWE superstars of twenty eighteen! It was a tough one this year with so many standing out throughout the entire year but it's these five names that for me personally took the top spot with Tommaso Ciampa coming in as number one. I've had so much fun writing this year and while there have been so many ups and downs overall I'm ending twenty eighteen positive and more determined than ever before! Join me back here with a brand new set of posts in January of two thousand and nineteen as we look to see who will take the top spot this time next year!
