What the WWE Should Do With Lana Next
Dolph Ziggler, Rusev, Bobby Lashley, Liv Morgan, it's safe to
say Lana has had her fair share of on-screen relationships over the years. As
of right now, the Ravishing Russian continues to stand by her “husband” Bobby
Lashley but with tensions growing between the pair it looks as though it may be
only a matter of time until we see them go their separate ways but just what
exactly is the next right direction for Lana? What should the WWE be focusing on? And what awaits Lana in the coming months as a WWE superstar?
Separate her from Lashley
In all honesty, I have never been for the Lashley/Lana
angle. Random, confusing and completely out of the blue it was a romantic angle
that never hit well with fans and while did a good job in presenting Lashley as
a convincing heel and progressing Lana into something “new” its something fans
haven’t enjoyed all too much and became stale almost instantly after the Rusev
story concluded. There is a lack of genuine chemistry between Lana and Bobby
and creatively the WWE is limited when it comes down to what to do next.
Moving forward, the best option for both superstars is for the pair to go their
separate ways. Lashley is a dominant and powerful superstar who has killed it
on his own before, all he needs is the right direction and booking. It is time
for Lana to also explore new avenues and look to make an impact on her own that
eases her away from romantic angles especially forced storylines that do not connect
with fans. Having her cost Lashley the WWE Championship match against McIntyre
could be a great way to push forward that ending.
Move her to NXT
The WWE women’s division is incredibly stacked as a whole! There
is a fantastic mixture of different styles and characters but also superstars
of varying skill sets; with that being said, despite Lana being apart of the
WWE for several years now she is still rather green in the ring and there is a
lot of progress and work to be made. Moving her to NXT will allow Lana to develop
her character even more away from romantic angles while giving her the chance
to work singles matches that can develop her in-ring skills and give her the opportunity
to show she can impress when competing in-ring competition. The NXT Women’s
division is extremely diverse and arguably the strongest in all of the WWE but
there are women there Lana could learn so much from and bring out the best in
her whether it be in the ring or as a character. Her popularity also means Lana
is sure to bring something new to the NXT women’s division and more of a draw
to the black and gold brands women’s division than it already has.
Focus on Her in Ring Skills
Now, whether it is NXT or not it’s time for the WWE to focus
in on what Lana can do in the ring. As we have already touched on, she is still
pretty green and we haven’t seen all too much of her in the ring to really comment
too heavily; however, despite that, I would love to see that change and see what
she can deliver in the ring. Whether it be pairing her with a dominant star
like Nia Jax for tag team competition or simply building her up as a singles
star I would love to see Lana begin to break away from her role as valet and “wife”
and step up as a WWE superstar and watch her actually compete.
Manage a Female Superstar
Despite what your opinions may be on Lana she does make for a good manager role
and we have seen her stand alongside the likes of Rusev, Ziggler, and Lashley over
the years as well as female superstar Tamina and overall she has done a great
job and brought a lot of entertainment to her parings. Now, I would have loved
to have seen the WWE do more with Lana and Tamina when we saw the two working
closely together but fast forward to today and there is still potential for
Lana to enter that Manager role, however, in a twist and for something different
it would be great to see her stand alongside a female superstar. This would not
only make for something refreshing to see from Lana but also for the WWE Women’s
division for seeing a female superstar manager other female superstars isn’t
something we see often.
Add her to a Tag Team
I mentioned earlier in the post but honestly, I do believe there
is potential for Lana to shine within a tag team. We know she is not the most experienced
superstar within the women’s division and so it could be very beneficial for
her to work alongside another female superstar within a tag team to build-up
her character even more and ease her into more in-ring action. A pairing with Nia
Jax, for example, has great potential to give both women something different to do and with their completely different sizes and in-ring styles there could b a
great creative angle and make for something very exciting for the women’s tag
division.
Now, I don’t know about you but I do feel as though Lana has
so much talent and so much to bring to the table but over the years she has
been used in so many cringe-worthy and dated angles that it has set her back.
However, she does have a great ability to portray a solid character and have
fans interested in both a heel and face role and I do hope that in time the WWE
figure out something solid and entertaining to involve her in.
