Current WWE Stars You Forgot Were in Lucha Underground
While Lucha Underground is no more the promotion gave fans something
completely different from everything else on the scene. The diverse roster, over
the top storylines and new way of conducting things, was refreshing and very entertaining
to watch! In recent years, the stars of Lucha Underground have spread out
amongst the wrestling scene but which current WWE stars once graced the Lucha Dungeon?
Today we are going to be looking at some of the names you may have forgotten
where once apart of the Lucha Underground roster and what their time there did
for their careers!
I don’t know about you but I do miss Lucha Underground! It’s unique way of doing things and incredibly talented roster meant fans were entertained massively every single week. There were of course of names I could have included in this list such as Chelsea Green and Rey Mysterio. The promotion showcased some amazing performances that may go down as some of the best matches in the careers of many stars including current WWE talents.
John Morrison
While away from the WWE John Morrison was making a huge
impact on the wrestling scene competing for several different promotions booked
as a top main event star. The place he arguably had the best run was Lucha
Underground. This was where I enjoyed watching Morrison the most for here, we
saw in-depth character work and phenomenal matches that will go down as some of
his best performances to date! Working alongside wife Taya and forming a strong
leading faction in the Underground Morrison (wrestling under Johnny Mundo)
became one of the biggest stars on the roster. Collision with the likes of Prince
Puma, Killshot, and Mack put Morrison on the map and stood out as Lucha
Underground classics!
Karrion Kross
While a newbie to the WWE Killer Kross has become a huge
name amongst the wrestling community and rightfully so for his dominant in-ring
performances, captivating look, and fantastic character work really do make him something
special! A role many seem to forget he worked, however, was over in Lucha
Underground as the White Rabbit. Now, we did not see all too much of Kross in
the underground particularly in the ring he was still shown to be a dominant
force with plenty of power! His character was strong and promising and clear
direction. With another season under the belt, I am confident Kross could have
gone on to become champion and involved in even bigger angles.
El Hijo del Fantasma
He may be yet to truly make an impact in the WWE but El Higo
Del Fantasma has a lot of experience on his side and anyone familiar with his
work will know there are some great things to come from him, all he needs is the
time and the right booking! Prior to signing with the WWE Fantasma wrestled across
the scene including Lucha Underground where he competed under the name King Cuerno
and was booked as an important and key figure on the roster. While not as big
as some of the other names we will discuss today, Cuerno was apart of so many
epic matchups and collided with some fo the best names on the roster! Now, I
don’t believe he will have the same level of importance and appreciation in the
WWE as he did over in Lucha Underground I do believe that we will see some
awesome performances and matches that will put a lot of eyes on him!
Kairi Sane
In all honesty, there could be an entirely separate list
looking at female superstars who were apart of Lucha Underground, but I believe
Kairi Sane may surprise many the most! Apart of an all-female faction which
also included NXT’s very own Io Shirai. The dominant faction took on the male
stars of the roster in some pretty epic matches I most certainly advise that
you go and check out! We didn’t see much of Kairi over in Lucha Underground at
all but a standout performance alongside Pentagon Dark made sure she most
certainly made an impact! This is a great reminder of just how fearless and
awesome she really is in the ring!
Isaiah Scott
Isaiah Scott is someone I am really rooting for! We’ve
already seen some incredible performances from him both on 205LIVE and NXT and
I’m excited to see where things go for him. Going back to his Lucha Underground
days and Isaiah Scott is otherwise known as Kilshot was one of my favourite stars
on the roster! An incredible exciting talent to watch Killshot was constantly
working incredible standout matches against so many stars on the roster! Now, I’m
not sure he will get the same amount of time and commitment in the WWE, or at
least not yet but we have to remember just how good he really is! Epic
collisions with the likes of Dante Fox saw him change the game and really show
the world just how brilliant he is and the depths of his move set and skills.
Young, exciting and possessing one heck of a skill set Isaiah Scott is someone I
really want to see smash it in the WWE.
Ricochet
And of course, we have Ricochet. One of the biggest names in
Lucha Underground history competing under the name Prince Puma the former champion
dominated the underground! A huge fan favourite he shared the ring with the
likes of Jonny Mundo, Rey Mysterio and Mil Muertes to work some of the best
matches in Lucha Underground history as well as some of the best and most
underrated matches of his entire career. The position Ricochet had over in
Lucha Underground was exactly where he belonged, booked as a top star leading
the roster and whether we ever see him reach that status in the WWE is something
to be debated.
I don’t know about you but I do miss Lucha Underground! It’s unique way of doing things and incredibly talented roster meant fans were entertained massively every single week. There were of course of names I could have included in this list such as Chelsea Green and Rey Mysterio.
