Six Wrestlemania Matches We Want to see This Year

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and having a great start to the new month! We, of course, are currently more than midway through Wrestlemania season and with the biggest event on the Wrestling calendar fastly approaching I wanted to upload this blog post talking about the night itself and the matches us fans desperately want to see take place. Now, ideally I would have loved to have written this post and had it uploaded weeks ago but with everything that went on last month nothing really went to plan, however, I still really really wanted to write this post and so I'm going to upload it anyway. So to clear things up, in today's blog post we are going to be taking a look at not five but seven matches we as fans would like to see on the mania card this year. Now, some of the matches I'm going to be talking about today we now know will not be happening but they are still matches I personally would have liked to have seen take place. I am planning on writing more posts centring around Wrestlemania season of course so you can definitely expect to see in the near future. Of course when Mania roles around I will be live tweeting throughout the whole weekend. As always any recent blog post will be linked bellow including my RAW and Smackdown LIVE Best Moments of the week post. Finally, you can, of course, let me know what matches you would have liked to have seen on the Wrestlemania card this year by leaving a comment down bellow in the comments section or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

Alexa Bliss VS Mickie James
This first match I'm going to be talking about is one that I have mentioned several times here on my blog over the past month or so and I'm confident long time readers of my blog would have expected this to feature in today's post. At the end of last year, it was speculated that former Women's Champion Mickie James would be making a full-time return to the WWE after working an NXT Women's Championship match against Asuka late twenty sixteen. In the early weeks of the year, Becky Lynch was targeted by masked figure working under the name La Lucha Dora and while it wasn't made official fans predicted that it was only a matter of time before Mickie James was revealed as the women behind the mask. During a steel cage match for the Smackdown LIVE women's Championship between Lynch and champ Alexa Bliss, we saw the figure finally revealed and of course Mickie James had been the women targeting Lynch the entire time. Personally, this didn't surprise me at all. The speculation had been there, we all knew that once Mickie was given the heads up to go head and actually make her return she would be doing so on the Smackdown LIVE roster. Now, I know the way the reveal was done didn't go down well with many fans but I did like what we got. I thought with the women main eventing and having the stipulation match they had this did feel like a big deal and it did get me very excited. What I have been disappointed with, however, is what they have done with both these women since the reveal. While Bliss has remained looking strong and working the women's championship picture we haven't seen Mickie used to her best abilities although working solid matches with Becky Lynch. What I would have liked to have seen is the WWE focus much much more on the relationship between Mickie James and Alexa Bliss and really build that up into something. One being completely obsessed with the other (it totally would have worked both ways) and that working towards a championship match at Mania. Now, I'm still not sure what direction the WWE are trying to go down with the women's division for Mania this year on Smackdown LIVE and while there is still time to build something up between the two women having the past month would have helped massively and made the whole thing work a lot lot better. This match for me screams Wrestlemania quality. You really could very easily get a great story from these two that would feel like a match worthy of taking place on the grandest stage of them all.

Seth Rollins VS Triple H
Seth Rollins VS Triple H is most likely to be the one match on this list everyone agrees should feature on this years Wrestlemania card. I have sat here for weeks, months even, talking about this feud and mentioning how I believe this is one of the best-told storylines's in the WWE today. This a story years in the making and one that really does tell itself. Both Rollins and Triple H don't have to do plenty to sell this match. It feels like a big deal, it feels Wrestlemania worthy and it feels like a match everyone can invest in. The story really is one that has captivated audiences because of it's slow build up. It's rare nowadays that the WWE take their time building a story and in the end create something that could potentially go down as an all-time favourite. We first saw Seth Rollins back in FCW and of course, NXT where he would soon become the first ever NXT Champion and by the end of the night he was joined by the legendary Dusty Rhodes and Triple H as they both raised his arms in celebration and declared him the face of what Triple H had made. Now, we all know that NXT is Hunter's baby. He really has put his life and soul into the developmental brand and Seth Rollins happens to be one of the biggest success stories. During his time in the Shield, he would find himself fighting against Triple H despite working for him and the Authority during his early days on the main roster. One of the most iconic moments in Wrestling over the past five years or so one hundred per cent came from Rollins shocking turn on former Shield brothers Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns allying himself with the man who created him, Triple H. For the next year Rollins would stand by his mentor as part of the Authority becoming Hunters biggest and most precious prized possession. He would go on to win the Money in the bank, cash in at Wrestlemania and become one of the best champions in recent memory. However, a crushing knee injury put Rollins on the shelf for several months and it wouldn't take long for Triple H to find a new shiny toy and from there the story really was created. Like I said, this is one that really tells itself. A lot of time and effort has been put into this feud and as a result, everyone in the WWE Universe is now emotionally invested. I would love for this match to still take place at Mania next month. The build up really has been fantastic this year alone. The addition of Samoa Joe, Rollins turning up at NXT Takeover, the story of his second injury, everything just ties together perfectly and everything we are seeing really does create the perfect ingredients for a perfect Wrestlemania match and a feud that will leave fans talking for many years.

The Undertaker VS John Cena
Up next we have yet another match we were all expecting to see take place at this years Wrestlemania, John Cena VS The Undertaker. A match that I personally expected to take place many years ago is one the majority of the WWE universe were hoping to see finally happen at this years huge Wrestlemania event. Unfortunately, we do now know that this match won't be happening. While Cena is looking to work a mixed tag team match with Nikki Bella aginst the Miz and Maryse the Undertaker is set to do work with Roman Reigns. To be fair the new plans for both these superstars aren't terrible. I know they sure are controversial but they are after all matches that have gotten people talking. I do believe that both these matches will be at least half decent neither will touch what could have gone down between Taker and Cena. This is a match that screams Wrestlemania. It's one a lot of fans want to see, it generates huge attention and is sure to pick up a massive reaction from fans of all ages around the world and it would have without a shadow of a doubt been one of the best matches on the card. Just like Triple H and Rollins it's a match that tells itself. This isn't a story of teacher VS Student, here we have two legendary superstars, two very different superstars, two superstars who have the biggest following in WWE. Iconic superstars. With Cena making history this year at the Royal Rumble tying Ric Flairs record and him reaching a big moment of his career seeing him face the Undertaker, one of the first men he encountered with backstage on his first night just would have been amazing. You don't have to tell a big big story here this is a match that simply sells. The reaction it would get and just knowing how amazing it would have been this is a match that could have very easily gone down as all time great and it's a shame that the WWE have opted out.

Dean Ambrose VS Baron Corbin for the IC Title
Come on, you knew I was going to feature this match in today's blog post. You saw it coming. Baron Corbin has been killing it so far this year and no I'm not just saying that because I'm the world's biggest Corbin mark. He has finally found where he belongs and the WWE have actually been doing a fantastic job booking him. Sure I would have done things differently with him at the Royal Rumble and little matches he's had here and there but overall he really has had a great start to twenty seventeen and now during Wrestlemania season he finds himself working a feud with Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship. Now, out of all the matches, I will be talking about in today's blog post this is the one most likely to take place and could probably be announced during tonight's episode of Smackdown LIVE. If this does take place than this most likely not to be one of the best wrestling matches but it would be one of the most important and one hundred percent could be the underdog match of the night. Both these men are more than capable of putting on a brilliant match and if they are given the time this could very easily be a standout match of the night. Both these superstars while have different in ring styles to one another have that hardcore feel. They don't give a crap and it's the shared attitude that really is making this feud. They aren't telling this big story, there's no long build up and crazy back story, this all started after Ambrose eliminated Corbin at the Elimination Chamber and took away a huge opportunity for him. Now, this won't be the biggest match on the Mania card this year but it has some serious potential. Both these men could really help elevate the other especially Ambrose with Corbin and like I said I do believe that the pair could put on a fantastic match that could seriously help elevate both these men. I personally would love to see Corbin take the title at Mania, It would be a huge deal, for him to win the Battle Royal at his first Wrestlemania and the IC title at his second would be huge for him. He is someone I have as a favourite for this year's Money in the bank but holding the IC title is exactly what he needs right now to push him that little further and work towards him coming across like a superstar who should be WWE champion.

Neville VS Austin Aries
It took them time but the Cruiserweights are finally starting to make an impact and turn heads. The men in the division had a slow start thanks to poor booking, lack of air time and weak storylines but following that epic Cruiserweight championship match between Neville and Jack Gallagher. I have already spoken about this match this week but the two really did have the best match of the night on Sunday. I mentioned in yesterday's blog post that this was the match that the division really needed and that match alone really has caught the attention of fans and has finally allowed live audience to get far more invested in the action in the ring and from the division. During last night's show, we finally saw Austin Aries get physical on the main roster when he challenged Neville following the words of the champ that had simply pushed Aries too far. Now, it is very likely the two will clash at Wrestlemania in four weeks time and this is exactly what the division needs also. This is the first match from the division that feels like a big deal, that feels like the fans are invested in and one that will draw a lot of attention. It' the one match from the Cruiserweights that would feel like it was worthy of being at Wrestlemania. Now, I don't doubt for a single second that these two will kill at Mania. The pair are bound have a fantastic match and I actually do strongly believe this could be one of the strongest, best matches on the Mania card this year and could seriously help push this division to the next level. Will the title change hands? Most likely but I personally would love to see Neville keep hold of it for a little longer.

Samoa Joe VS Sami Zayn
And the last match I'm going to be talking about today is one that at this point I'm not sure will be happening after all but one I really want to talk about anyway. This past Sunday Samoa Joe competed in his first WWE Pay per view match when he went one on one with Sami Zayn. The match was a great start to the show and I can say that it did certainly entertain me. These are two men that never disappoint when they step in that ring and this match was no different. Now, the plans for both these men when it comes to Wrestlemania is still something fans are speculating but I personally really
would love to see the pair clash at Mania in four weeks time. What is key here, however, is the story. Just like many of the matches we have spoken about today this is one that really does tell itself in areas because of their history. What I would love to see them focus on is Zayn simply having to prove himself. That road to redemption story again. We have seen Zayn pick up several losses recently including two straight within twenty-four hours. If they can focus on that and Zayn wanting to prove he is was worthy than we could get something amazing. Sami is the ultimate underdog. He knows how to get fans cheering for him and know one sells and tells a road to redemption storyline better than him. Both these superstars hold NXT close to their hearts and both have had achived a lot there. If I was booking this story I would have Zayn ask for another match against Joe, a rematch, wanting to prove himself and bounce back but when it comes to it he picks up yet another loss. This brings out an even more desperate side of Zayn and as he looks to prove himself and finally pick up a win over the former NXT champion Samoa Joe agrees to make a deal with him; he will compete in one more match against Sami, at Wrestlemania however if he loses than he leaves Monday night RAW. Now, to be honest I just want to see Zayn make the move over to Smackdown LIVE. It's where he should have been drafted in the first place and we do all still want to see him there. A fresh start over on Smackdown LIVE, seeing him given opportunities and work towards really proving himself there would be great and feud with the man who will hopefully be the new IC Champion after Mania would be fantastic for them both and you really could tell a great story there.

I honestly had a lot of fun writing this post! I will admit that I did want to upload this weeks back but after everything that happened last month things just didn't go to plan but I'm glad you guys have finally read it! As always you can let me know what matches you believe should take place at Wrestlemania this year by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
