What I Really I Think of Wrestlemania 33

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! So we are only a couple of days away from Wrestlemania thirty-three and I have to say that despite the rather negative posts I have been uploading recently I'm actually really excited for the weekend ahead. Regardless of the card its impossible to be a wrestling fan and not be excited for Wrestlemania.  Now, In today's blog post I'm going to be taking a deeper look at the Wrestlemania card in a post I'm entitling "What I really think about Wrestlemania thirty-three". This is where I will give you my final thoughts on Wrestlemania thirty-three before the actual show on Sunday. I have been crazy busy this week trying to get back on track of life after being away for a few days but I really wanted to write and upload this post for you and while it is a day late I'm so happy I was able to get it done and uploaded for you. Before we get started with today's post I have a couple of updates and reminders for you quickly. Tonight I will be live tweeting throughout the Hall of Fame Ceremony including the red carpet show. On Saturday I will be live tweeting throughout NXT again including the kickoff show and of course throughout Wrestlemania and that Wrestlemania kick off show. Reviews for both shows will be uploaded in the week if everything goes to plan. As always any recent blog post will be linked bellow and you can let me know what you think of this years Wrestlemania by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Kick Off Show Matches

We start today's blog post off on a down note and something I have not stopped talking about this week; the Wrestlemania kick off show matches. Oh god. Where do I even begin? Okay, let me make it clear, I understand that Wrestlemania is a huge show. This Sunday there will be fourteen matches taking place and not all of those matches can be placed on the main show. We need shows to be booked on the kickoff show to get the crowd and everyone at home warmed up and ready for a big night and a huge show. However, the choices this year are just terrible. We've had the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal placed on the kickoff show in the past, to be honest, I'd personally prefer to see it on the main show but I do believe that it works on the kickoff show this time round. I do still feel as though they should make a bigger deal of it on the night. I want to see a story being told in this battle royal. There are two main contenders this year, Braun Strowman and Sami Zayn and with their history you can really draw in the fans and with good commentary, close calls and the intensity between the two you could have a battle royal that really keeps us entertained, on the edge of our seats and possibly the best to date. As for the other two, the WWE really have messed up and I'm still so frustrated they have made the decisions they have made. Why on earth they believed it was a good idea to book both the Cruiserweight and Smackdown LIVE women's match on the kickoff show I have no idea. Both matches have the potential to be standouts. We have all touched on the fact that the cruiserweight division has really come into its element more recently with signs of it slowly ad finally getting to where it needs to be. This match up between Neville and Austin Aries is the biggest match to date. We have two huge names, the fans are into the story, and there is a lot of attraction when it comes to this bout. I have no doubt in my mind that these two could steal the show. Give them over twenty minutes and they will easily provide us with a match that we all do not stop talking about for weeks after. The division really did need the big Wrestlemania exposer. Having them perform on the main show in a big title match like this would have been exactly what they need to turn heads and have people both hardcore and casual fans excited about the growth of the division. Shoving them on the kickoff show is just another thing the WWE have done wrong with the cruiserweights. Keeping that in mind, I do still strongly believe they could have one of the best matches of the weekend but both men and the entire division deserve a heck of a lot more. And the exact same can be said for the women over on Smackdown LIVE. These girls have worked their butts off since the brand split and I know I have said it plenty of times before but Smackdown have done a great job using all its female talent getting them in storylines, solid matches, and providing them all with an equal amount of air time allowing them all to feel and come across as important. In this match, on Sunday we have some of the best female athletes competing and actually the expectations for this match a rather high. I honestly do believe these girls could get the whole world talking and we could easily see something outstanding. Again, they really deserved the exposer of the main Wrestlemania show and my issue is if you want us as fans to feel as though the women's championships are as important as the WWE and Universal championships then you have to make them feel as though they are and booking them both on the main show is so key. They would never book the WWE Championship match on the kickoff show and so the Smackdown LIVE women's Championship shouldn't be either.

Now I can see why the kickoff show matches were booked. I've mentioned in previous blogs posts already this week that I understand why the decisions were made. However, I do still feel as though there are other matches that could have taken the spot such as the tag team championship match and they could have shoved the live music performances on the kickoff show to get the crowd going.

The Real Main Event

If there is one thing I haven't stopped complaining about and talking about both on twitter and here on my blog is the Wrestlemania main event. I have been debating with myself and with other fans about this topic and it's something that has really divided opinion. In my head, I've gone back and forth on what I truly think about this. On the one hand, I can completely understand why the WWE would go with Brock Lesnar VS Goldberg as the main event and to go on last. Let's face, while they are both part timers they are both two of the biggest names in WWE history. There's a main event feel to what they bring to the table that Bray and Orton can't touch. Their story has been told for quite some time, it attracts hardcore and casual fans and it's the match likely to generate the most attention. However, I cannot shake the feeling off that the Wrestlemania main event should be for the WWE Championship between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. This is a perfect modern day storyline. We have one of the biggest stars of the past decade in Randy Orton and one of the most promising and beloved characters and stars to the hardcore fans in Bray Wyatt. Together, the story they have been telling pretty much since the brand split has been strong. It's something that has gotten better and better as time has progressed. Now, I have said before that I believe they could have done more here and a lot could have been done differently to feel stronger and all around better such as Randy Orton eliminating himself at the Royal Rumble allowing Bray to take the win for example. It's things like that that would have made the build up that much stronger and therefore made this match feel far more main event material. However, regardless, this match does feel like a big deal and it an important one. I do and always will believe the WWE Championship match should be the headline match of Wrestlemania not to mention Orton won the Royal rumble to MAIN EVENT Wrestlemania. These two have the potential to actually provide us with a match that is fucking brilliant. The chemistry is there, the story is there, and we know that they are capable of delivering a killer match. Personally, when it comes to Wrestling and all around story telling I am more excited for Orton VS Bray than Lesnar and Goldberg and I one hundred percent feel as though the WWE have made the wrong decision in regards to the true Wrestlemania thirty-three main events.

Will Roman Reigns Put the Dead Man to Rest?

At this point, the entire world knows how I feel about Roman Reigns. While I believe he is actually a very talented wrestler he still has a way to go, however, the blame lies soley on the WWE. Reigns is simply doing as he's told and if he was to turn heel and he's booking changed then the reaction and general feel for him would change. I'm still not a happy bunny when it comes to what has been booked for him at Mania this year. I don't believe a singles match against the Undertaker is what's best for him and it is one of those situations where it feels as though regardless of the end result no good can really come out of this match. Now, I do not want to see Reigns walk out of Wrestlemania thirty-three with a victory over the dead man. It's not what I want and it's not what anyone wants. It doesn't make sense, it won't work and it certainly won't help Reigns with his current relationship with the majority of the WWE universe. So how do you make this match a success? It's simple, time. I strongly strongly believe that this match could actually be one of the best of the night. Both men are big household names. Whether you're a casual fan or a hardcore fan you will know who Roman Reigns and the Undertaker are and so there is a natural degree of attention on this match. They are both fantastic wrestlers and they both can tell a story throughout a match and I believe that if they are given the right amount of time to perform (which I'm one hundred and ten percent sure they will be) then they could actually steal the show considering everything is done right. I'm expecting them to have one of if not the longest match of the night and I'm confident it will be a fantastic match. The best outcome is a simple clean loss for Roman however you make him look amazing. Have him kick out time and time again and really push Taker to his limits. Let Roman show the world what he can do. At the start of the match let him portray himself as the young, cocky, arrogant star looking to take down the legend and as the match goes on we see him continue to fight but the story grows and changes. Really tell a story here and by the end of the match, Reigns has such a great performance that despite losing he gains a serious amount of respect from the fans and let both men show signs of respect for one another. The following night we could see him finally turn heel and join that rumoured faction with Triple H and really start something new. There, in the space of twenty-four hours, you've sorted your Roman Reigns issue.

Potential Disappointment and Underdog Matches

There is one match I'm really interested in seeing the outcome of and that's the Intercontinental Championship match between Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin. Now, I'm so glad they have gone with a one on one here and not another ladder match. There's a story to be told here and this is actually now a really important match. The title needed a singles match at Mania this year and I do have high hopes for this. This is out of all the matches the one I think has really gone under the radar and the one a lot of people seem to keep forgetting about. This is definitely one more for the hardcore fans and I really hope the WWE focus on that on Sunday. Here we have two young up and coming stars who both need to make an impact and really send a message. These are the two men certainly under the most pressure this weekend and I'm seriously hoping is going to amaze. And I know that this could either be one of the worse matches of the night or one of the best. It's that simple. I do think this feud has a while to go and there will much more to see go down between these two in the near future however, I strongly believe that with enogh time and the right placement on the card they could give us a strong match but like I said, the placement of this match on the night is going to be so important. Put this at the wrong time and it could all go wrong. Now, as far as the winner goes I'm very conflicted. On the one hand being the big Baron Corbin fan that I am I would love nothing more than to see him walk out of Wrestlemania as the new Intercontinental Champion, however, on the other hand, I know that the smart booking decision and the best move to make for long term effect is for Ambrose to retain. Now, unless Corbin beats Ambrose so bad that he's out of action for a month (something Smackdown LIVE can't afford with Cena gone after Mania) and after he wins the title he attacks him again just to make an impact and prove point than this story will be going on for at least another two months and that could easily work if Ambrose is still champion.  The story just doesn't work as well with Ambrose doing the chasing and I believe you will get a much stronger story if Ambrose remains the champ so as of now I'm not sure who I'm backing on Sunday but I am definitely excited for this match.

The one match I do worry about is the mixed tag team match between John Cena and Nikki Bella and The Miz and Maryse. I have mentioned already this week that I feel as though this has been one of the best-built matches heading into Wrestlemania but I do worry the match won't be as strong and live up to that build-up. I still believe that they will have one of the more talked about and entertaining matches of the night but at this point, I'm not very confident. I also have to mention that the only way I will be happy with the result is if The Miz and Maryse get the win. They are both so hot right now and they need it far far more than John and Nikki. I do have the exact same fears for Styles and Shane McMahons one on one match also. I think we will see some great spots throughout the match but overall I don't believe this will be as strong.

Overall Thoughts

Overall I think this could be a very interesting Wrestlemania. There is no doubt about, this show could have been booked a heck of a lot stronger but there's still potential for some really amazing moments and matches. This could so easily be one of the best or one of the worse Wrestlemania shows of all time and I'm definitely interested in seeing the result. I'm also super excited about some of these entrances. I really hope they go all out and of course Corbin's motorbike entrance is something I'm really hoping we get this weekend! of course, I will be live tweeting throughout the show including the kickoff show so make sure you're following me over at @TezangiVictoria.
