NXT Stars Who Could Either Become Top Talent or Biggest Flops

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had a great weekend and start to the week so far! Okay, so as I mentioned previously, I have a whole bunch of brand new blog posts coming up that I pre-posted after a long weekend of binge-watching wrestling and today we have one of those posts that I am most excited about as we once again take a look at NXT. The WWE's developmental brand is forever providing fans with plenty to talk about following brilliant LIVE specials, five-star quality matches and entertaining characters that have us gripped throughout storyline's and feuds. In today's blog post, however, we are going to be taking a look at some of the brightest stars the NXT roster has to offer and discussing their futures with the company. Now, the WWE is known for bringing up NXT talent too soon or leading those stars in the wrong direction which of course has left talent including the likes of Tyler Breeze, Emma, and Shinsuke Nakamura struggling far more than expected. Time and time again the WWE has shown that just because a star is over or a big name down in NXT it doesn't mean they will have the same amount of success up on the main roster and today we will be looking at five current NXT stars who could either become top talent or big flops up on the main roster. As always, any recent blog post will be linked below including this week's RAW and Smackdown LIVE Highlights. Finally, you can get involved and tell me who you would include in this post by leaving a comment below or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

Velveteen Dream

If there is any current NXT star I worry about the most in terms of their future with the WWE it's the Velveteen Dream. Reminding me so greatly of former NXT talent Tyler Breeze many believe that Dream is destined to follow in the unfortunate footsteps of the gorgeous one. Breeze was a standout roster member during his time in NXT, however, since his move to the bigger stage he has struggled to work those long matches where he is able to showcase his talents properly and given the push he truly deserves. Velveteen Dream is a talent who so many including myself believe could follow in his footsteps. As of right now the former Tough Enough competitor is one of the most over and respected talents on the roster with fans worldwide obsessed with the flamboyant star. He represents something completely different to what we see on WWE TV today reminding many of the old school Goldust we all loved. His an intense, entertaining and unique talent who is able to work matches worthy of a near five-star rating. He screams world champion material and owns the capability of bringing something very different to the table but his unique abilities and style could, in fact, be his downfall. He's the type of talent you almost don't want to see moved up to the main roster in fear of what poor booking and treatment awaits him.

Nikki Cross

Nikki Cross is one heck of an all-around talent. She simply has it all from in-ring skill to likeability all the way to her character work. She's a convincing star with potential that no one can match. While she isn't spoken about massively and hasn't been called up to the main roster along with her Sanity allies she remains one of the most popular female stars on the NXT roster and a fan favorite amongst the NXT universe. The definition of the people's champion she's the women so many want to see as their NXT Women's champion and that may just be what awaits the insane Nikki Cross. Now, her run down in NXT has been extremely impressed with her best match being a standout in the women's evolution, a last woman standing bout against Askua where Cross came seconds away from scoring the victory. Her future, however, is one that seems to be pretty interesting. She could so easily be called up to the main roster later in the year/early twenty nineteen joining Eric Young and co as part of Sanity and pushed as the next big thing in the women's division or fall deep into the roster and forgotten about. Cross is another high unique character with so much to offer and the potential to lead something very new in the women's division however she's also a talent who could very easily be overshadowed by the likes of Candice Le'Rae, Shayna Baszler and the rest of the four horsewomen set to arrive in the WWE at a later date.

War Raiders

One of my favorite tag teams in the world of pro wrestling over the past couple of years has been War Machine. I've mentioned them several times here on my blog and spoke of some of their standout matches outside the WWE. Since joining the WWE however and arriving in NXT I've started to question how bright their future looks. Now, I'm confident they will have a strong run as champions at some point whether that be in NXT or up on the main roster. They are sure to have several standout moments and spots and have the ability to bring in something very exciting and different to the tag team division. However, when we look at some of the previous tag teams that have dominated NXT including the likes of the Ascension and fans are given are a reason to worry. War Raiders are the exact kind of team that could go either way. They could either be given a monster push and sent in a direction that would see them as one of the most successful tag teams of this generation or they could become another big man tag team who are pushed as a joke gimmick and go nowhere.

Kairi Sane

The direction Kairi Sane's WWE Career has taken has been rather unfortunate. Despite winning the first ever Mae Young Classic last year Sane hasn't been pushed as the top star many believed she would be. Instead, it was her finals competitor Shayna Baszler who instead has been given that exact push and now sits as the NXT Women's champion. Kairi, on the other hand, has been left working decent matches, fitting in solid spots here and there and in the midst of a mini-feud with Lacey Evans. Now, of course, there is time for things to change and for a turn around to take place. I strongly do believe that she could find herself as NXT women's champion come the end of the year but the WWE do need to focus on pushing her and making Kairi a bigger focal point in the division. The problem, however, is if she already is having such a weak start what does the future hold for her up on the main roster? Can she be pushed as a major star and a top face of the division or will she fade into the background? There are so many matches were Kairi could standout including stipulation matches such as the Elimination Chamber and Money in the Bank not to mention singles matches against names including Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Ember Moon, Natalya, and Asuka make for big must-see bouts with loads of potential.

Johnny Gargano

And finally, we have Johnny Gargano. Working two five star matches alone this year Gargano is one of the biggest attractions on the NXT roster. He's apart one of the biggest and most entertaining storylines of the year so far against former tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa and is a big fan favorite however, when we think about his future with the WWE it's one that gets me personally a
little concerned. Likely to join the cruiserweight division Gargano could so easily single handily save the division and 205 LIVE as a whole, however, the cruiserweight division has suffered so much and had so little fan interest that there's next to no faith for Gargano if this is where he is set to go. He's also very very likely to fade into the background and fall into the jobber section of the roster or follow in the footsteps of Cesaro who has worked brilliant matches, is over but isn't pushed as a major talent. On the flip side, he could have a Daniel Bryan story. Gargano is a brilliant underdog and has so many similarities to the former WWE Champion and so as of right now his career and future with the WWE could go either way but such a big and special talent should not go mistreated!

And that is my list! There are so many other names I wanted to talk about today so if you would like to see a part two then do let me know!
