Seven Things That Must Happen at Hell in A Cell 2018

This weekend the WWE will host the two thousand and eighteen Hell in a Cell pay per view and while I’ve gone on record to say that I’m not longer the biggest fan of stipulation matches purely because of how they are done this remains one of the shows I look forward to the most every year. The card this Sunday is interesting and while it hasn’t got an array of dream contests overall the night looks rather promising and the WWE have left us with plenty to look forward to! In today’s blog post we are going to be diving into this PPV and having a look at some of the things that must happen and a few little predictions!

The Double Turn

The story between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair has by far been a stand out in the women’s division this year. Well built, well told, and totally captivating fans have been left invested from the get-go. The decision to have Becky in the role of the heel, however, is a move that fans have been questioning from the beginning. The WWE universe is simply not going to boo Lynch and if anything, her support has only grown, I know I personally have become a bigger Becky Lynch fan over the past month and been more behind her than ever before! This weekend is a huge one for these two women and I am a little disappointed their contest will not be taking place inside the Hell in a Cell structure. The two deserve to have a lengthy bout where Lynch truly gets to prove herself but at some point, in the night a double turn is needed!

We know that the heel role isn’t working out for Becky in the sense that fans won’t boo her and if anything, this storyline has made her an even bigger star. To continue this on for the coming months we need to see the roles changed. Now, I don’t believe Becky will and should leave as champion this weekend but a moment where Lynch shows remorse after the match, congrats her opponent, and apologizes only to then be attacked by Flair is exactly what we need to see. It enables the feud to continue, the story to really develop and things to go in the right direction!

Outside Interference

In an ideal world Rusev would be much higher up on the roster, however, his alliance with Aiden English has worked out amazingly well and a future run as tag team champions are both needed and acceptable. Will that happens this weekend? I highly doubt it. The timing just doesn’t seem right, and we need at least an extra month-long title reign for the New Day. The match between these teams sure has great potential and could be an interesting addition to the card but the end result should be one that gets people talking and gives the division the little boost and added story it needs. With Rusev Day coming so close to a victory it would really shake things up if the bout ended in DQ. Involvement from another tag team like the Bar would help everyone involved! This is a fade into the background match and this kind of ending will allow Sheamus and Cesaro to get the little fresh push they need but also add more depth to the tag team division and solve the problem of both the teams competing needing the win.

Ziggler and McIntyre Retain

Keeping on the subject of the tag team division and while I would love to see the Shield possessing all the gold there is no denying that the right move for this match is to keep the title on Ziggler and McIntyre. Over the past month, I really have had a change of heart/opinion on this team and I’m loving what we have seen from the pair. Keeping the titles on them makes all the sense in the world. They need to show more, they need a longer reign, and there is so much more to come from these two as title holders.

Extreme Rules

The singles bout between Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton is an interesting one. I’ve seen so many mixed opinions but as someone who grew up watching these two, I have to say that personally, I’m loving this. I do think that the WWE has done a good job with this story, yes it could have had better moments and a stronger build but overall this is a brilliant contest for those who grew up in this time of wrestling! Their Collison this weekend has got to keep at that high level of brutality we have seen throughout the build. Allowing this match to get as extreme as possible is exactly what is needed here. Using objects, putting the Hell in a Cell structure to full use and really creating a barbaric contest that has fans totally hooked.

Styles Family at Ringside and Samoa Joe Takes the Win

If I’m being honest, I was a little conflicted with this one. A part of me does feel as though it may be best to keep the WWE Championship on Styles but looking at this storyline and really thinking about it I totally believe that a new champion is needed, and the timing is perfect. This has by far been one of Styles best storyline’s/feuds since joining the WWE and a standout of his title run. The story is so personal, so intense, and so realistic and what better than to have Styles’ family at ringside once again to have Joe brutally attack him inside of the Hell in a Cell structure and walk out as champion! This is exactly how the story should go in my opinion and I do think that with the right length of ring time and the right storytelling this could be a standout of not only the night but of the year.

Predictable and Unpredictable

And to finish this part of the post off today I want to talk about the Universal and RAW women’s Championship matches. Focusing on the women’s division, it's clear that this is one of the most predictable matches of the night and in all honesty that’s okay. It works here. I would love to see a much longer contest between Rousey and Bliss because I do believe they could, in fact, work a strong match given the time, but tits clear Rousey will retain. This will work totally fine as long as the match is better and stronger than the last!

As for the Universal Championship bout I feel as though this is, in fact, one of the most unpredictable matches of the night. Personally, I will be backing Braun Because I would love to see things reverse for the Shield. A loss to Ziggler and McIntyre then Reigns losing his title. Now, there will most likely be outside interference somehow which again totally works and while many have spoken of a complicated ending I believe a Braun Strowman standing tall over a fallen Shield could make for strong development!

Overall, this is an interesting pay per view. I do feel as though there is a lot to look forward to. The mixed tag team match is also one that excites me. The Miz/Daniel Bryan Story remains a current fave of mine and I’m hoping to see more in-ring work between Maryse and Brie this weekend. All the title matches appear to be interesting also and give us loads to look forward to! I, in fact, predict this to be a standout show of the year but what do you think? Feel free to leave a comment below or tweet me over at @TezangiVictoria telling me what your predictions are!
