Potential Returns and Debuts Fans Could See at Royal Rumble 2019

This weekend the WWE will host the two thousand and nineteen Royal Rumble PPV, one of my favourite Pay Per Views of the year and ahead of Sundays show I want to squeeze in a couple of articles looking at what is sure to be a must-see event! In today’s blog post I’m going to be focusing my attention on both Rumble matches as I look at some of the potential debuts and returns, we could see this weekend, but who would you like to see pop up in their respective Rumble matches?

EC3

The WWE has already revealed that EC3 will be amongst the many superstars making their debut for the main roster very soon and with the Rumble coming up this weekend many are expecting the top one per cent to make his official in-ring debut on the main roster in the men’s Royal Rumble match. We have seen him pop up here and there during little backstage moments in recent weeks but the WWE universe can most certainly expect to see this up and coming star makes an impact this weekend with a possible Mania opponent coming becoming clearer for the now former NXT star.

Layla

With the news of the WWE introducing tag team titles to the women’s division fans have spent time looking back some of the best female duos of all time and whether you loved them or hate them there is no denying LayCool most certainly make that list. Former women’s and Divas champion Michelle McCool has recently teased a return from the two on social media and with Michelle already making two in-ring returns last year could this weekend see not only Layla back in the ring but Michelle too further teasing more work for the growing women’s tag team division.

Pete Dunne

So, this one isn’t really a return or a debut which is what this post should be focusing on, however, in terms of surprise entrants Pete Dunne is a name I am desperate to see pop up in this weekend’s men’s Royal Rumble match. The current WWE United Kingdom champion has dominated the NXT UK scene and with the end of his title reign looming Dunne should be looking to make more main roster appearances and what better way to do so and to become more familiar with the crowd than an appearance this weekend and a standout performance in one of the biggest matches of the year? It would also be pretty awesome to see NXT UK represented this weekend.

Shayna Baszler

Talking of current champions making an appearance this weekend, we next have to discuss the current NXT Women’s champion Shayna Baszler. Now, it's inevitable that Baszler will be making her main roster debut at some point this year and while that may not be just yet I strongly believe she could well and truly show up in this weekend's women’s Royal Rumble match. With many expecting Baszler to drop her title at Saturday’s takeover event and Shayna already spending so much time in NXT now appears to be the right moment to allow her to make an appearance on the main roster, send a message, and edge closer to what will be a huge arrival on either RAW or Smackdown LIVE.

Lars Sullivan

Keeping on the theme of debuts, another NXT call up fans can expect to make an appearance as an entrant in this year’s Royal Rumble match is Lars Sullivan. With panic attacks setting Sullivan back from making a debut whether or not he will, in fact, be able to make an appearance is something we will just have to wait and see but with the Rumble match fitting Sullivan so perfectly and this being such a great opportunity for him to make a dominant impact and set his sight on something big ahead of Mania it would be a real shame for him to miss out this weekend!

Victoria

Okay, so this one may seem a little far fetched but… I have to mention Victoria in this list. Growing up wrestling and paying attention to the women’s division, the former Women’s champion was someone I loved watching every single week and seeing her not mentioned half as much as she should be during the women’s evolution really does not sit well with me! An important figure in the growth and evolution of women’s wrestling its truly disappointing to see her excluded and so this weekend I would love to see her enter the women’s royal rumble and get the spotlight she deserves. Just like last year, we can expect to see a few older faces of the women’s division pop up in this Rumble match and Victoria is an all-time fave I know many would love to see make an appearance even if it just for the one night.

Batista

The biggest name I and so many others want to see pop up this weekend in the men’s Royal Rumble is of course Batista. The animal has been a major talking point in recent months with the Rumble date edging closer meaning he has been mentioned a lot! With a return at some point almost inevitable, it appears as though this is the perfect time for him to do just that and to set up a Mania opponent and storyline perfectly. I’ve personally always been such a big fan of Batista and so you can most certainly expect me to mark out like a child if his music hits this Sunday.

And those are just some names I would like to see return or debut at this year's Royal Rumble event! There were of course so many other names I would have loved to have mentioned and had in mind including Melina, Rob Van Dam, and of course… Kenny Omega; but who makes your list?
