WWE Superstars Best Pop Culture Inspired Attire 2018 - 2019
A wrestler’s entrance and attire can really make for
something special and stand out! While it appears to be a small area in the
industry its little details like these that can add so much depth to a
character. In recent years we have seen several WWE superstars across the main
roster and NXT who have used their entrance and ring attire to add more to their
persona’s many of which using pop culture to do exactly that. In today’s blog
post we are going to be looking at five superstars who regularly make put a
touch of pop culture cosplay to their image to make an extra impact.
There were of course so many other names I could have mentioned today but in the coming weeks I will be exploring this topic a little more diving into some of the best entrances, attires, and character changes so keep an eye out for those! Seth Rollins - Thanos, Power Rangers, Night Walker
One of the first times Seth Rollins grabbed my attention
with his ring gear was when he debuted a Game of Thrones-inspired entrance and
attire. Form the eye contacts to the clothing and entrance details Rollins sported
the look of a nightwalker and while this isn’t an image the current Universal
Champion has brought back it was most certainly a standout image I personally
thought was so freaking cool. Fans have also seen Rollins dressed in Thanos and
a white power ranger inspired attire for PPV events in recent years.
Liv Morgan - IT/PennyWise
While it's been quite some time since we last saw Liv Morgan
in action and despite not being a regular to cosplay or use pop culture to add
more to her character back in twenty eighteen Morgan sported a Pennywise/IT
inspired ring gear that most certainly grabbed my attention! The details including
the red balloon and changes to her attire made for small standout detail. The Evolution
PPV saw several superstars sport pop culture-inspired ring gear and Morgan was
one of my personal favourites.
Alexa Bliss - Freddie Kruger, Disney, Marvel, DC
I have previously written about Alexa Bliss’ use of
exploring pop culture characters and adding those influences to her ring
attire. From Buzz Lightyear to Alice In Wonderland to Freddie Kruger and Harley
Quinn the former women’s champion has most certainly explored several different
characters in the pop culture world making her ring gear always exciting and
fresh. Bliss has taken inspiration from superheroes, villains, horror movie
characters and Disney favourites and some of these cosplay decisions have often
resulted in so much more depth being added to Alexa’s character.
Johnny Gargano - Marvel and DC
One of the biggest, best and most influential NXT stars of
all time is up next in former champion, Johnny Gargano. The Iron Man of the
black and gold brand Gargano has sported several superhero cosplay styles
adding a little extra to his ring attire and the storyline and match he has
been apart of. From Marvel characters including Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and
Wolverine Gargano has used his attire to add more to his character and showcase
his personality and real-life interest further. There’s no doubt that Gargano in
recent years has had some of the coolest ring gear!
Triple H – Terminator
Throughout his career Triple H has sported several cool and
special attires, however, a huge standout and personal favourite of mine comes
from his Wrestlemania thirty-one entrance when the Game became the Terminator.
The entire entrance here was simply epic fitting the Wrestlemania feel entirely!
This was such a huge standout of the entire night and with an equally iconic
match on the night Triple H really did prove a heck of a lot on the night and
this entrance and ring gear will go down as one of the coolest in recent
memory.
