9 WWE Main Roster Opponents For John Morrison

Last week rumours surfaced regarding John Morrison making a return to the WWE. The unexpected announcement sent shock waves through the wrestling community and with the WWE possessing one of its most diverse and exciting rosters in a very long time there are plenty of potential opponents for the former IC champion but just who are the must names Morrison needs to face upon his rumoured return.

Buddy Murphy

Since joining the main roster, the WWE hasn’t done all too much with former Cruiserweight champion Buddy Murphy despite his massively impressive title reign. Murphy is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most exciting in-ring performers today and while he may not currently be being used to his full potential a collision with a returning John Morrison could very easily show the world just how good he is. While a rivalry between the pair may not see Buddy getting the upper hand it’s a one on one encounter with a returning Morrison that could go down as a career highlight for Murphy; not to mention this would be the perfect returning rivalry for Morrison.

Shinsuke Nakamura

It’s been a tough ride for Shinsuke Nakamura over on the WWE main roster, but we are now beginning to see generally better booking an overall content from the current Intercontinental champion. Now, the idea of Nakamura vs Morrison really does get me excited and it's clear this makes for a true dream match! Here we have two superstars with rather different styles in the ring with Morrison sporting a higher risk almost Lucha libre style while Nakamura the king of strong style and striking brings something completely different to the table. Together these two superstars are more than capable of putting on one heck of an awesome match-up sure to get everyone watching excited and completely hooked on the action.

Seth Rollins

Talking of dream matches Seth Rollins vs John Morrison is a bout that could very easily main event any PPV. The two most certainly share their similarities in the ring with their fast-paced and action-packed move set their collision is sure to see an array of epic spots that leave fans stunned and on their feet! Morrison is an incredible talent who has spent recent years away from the WWE proving, he is a top star and challenging a name like Rollins will most certainly allow him the chance to be seen as a top talent in the WWE giving him a completely new status to what he previously had in the company not to mention this could very easily make for the best match we mention today.

Aleister Black

Main roster WWE fans are yet to truly see the best of Aleister Black with the company yet to give him the push and booking that grabs fan attention but when we take a look at matches Morrison must compete in upon a return to the WWE Black most certainly is a name that tops the list. While both men will be in need of a push and a win here this makes for a brilliant match to put on either RAW or Smackdown Live as a standout of the year highlighting the incredible talent both men possess. Again, despite having the differences in terms of in-ring styles the two superstars are intense performers sure to push each other to their limits and its Morrison who could bring out a completely new side to Aleister and vis versa.

AJ Styles

As the current United States champion, AJ Styles has a target on his back and with a returning John Morrison now on the table a huge opportunity awaits the WWE to present fans with something special. With styles sure to compliment each other a match up between the pair could so easily go down a s a highlight of the year. This kind of match up could also establish where Morrison now belongs on the roster and similarly to the Seth Rollins effect a win and possibly dethroning Styles could do wonders for Morrisons career and highlight him this time around in the WWE as a top talent in the company.

Andrade

A big-time dream match on my list has got to be John Morrison vs Andrade. As two incredibly exciting superstars, they share two move sets that are full of entertaining spots and impressive athleticism. Pairing them in the ring promises a standout contest that could so easily go down as a match of the year candidate. These are two superstars that bring something different to the WWE and while it can seem unlikely either will be crowned WWE champion any time soon they have the potential to be exactly that. Sure to remind fans of Morrison's days in Lucha Underground it's colliding with Andrade that could truly do wonders for the returning star while also bringing out the very best in Andrade.

Ricochet

Talking of the Lucha Underground days, Ricochet and Morrison are no stranger to each other and colliding on the WWE stage is something that fans simply have to bear witness to! These two have put on incredible matches against one another in the past and with a bigger stage now at their feet Ricochet and Morrison has the chance to show the world a style of pro wrestling that can be underutilised in the WWE. Never disappointing in the ring these two have the chance to wow audiences once again the WWE has the chance to provide a match that we just don’t see enough in the company.

Rusev

Recently returning to action himself, Rusev has plenty to look forward to in the coming months also but with talk of John Morrison making a return a possible dream match could be on the horizon. Now, I believe that fans can often forget just how great Rusev is in the ring. He doesn’t always get the time he deserves to compete and has only had a hand full of matches to prove to the world that he really is an incredible professional wrestler. Challenging Morrison could really bring out the best in Rusev once again and highlight hes amazing in-ring skills.

The Miz

And to conclude, there really is no superstar I would love to see Morrison collide with than The Miz. While this may not make for the best match on this list the pair have so much history that there is no denying that the storyline would make for the best we have spoken about today. With the two men in completely different positions than where they were years before this makes for a brilliant set up and there is no denying Morrison vs The Miz has to take place making it almost inevitable. The storyline, promos and segment5s are enough to get my attention before even thinking about the actual in-ring competition between them.

I don’t know about you but I’m very excited about the prospect of John Morrison making a return to the WWE. He has spent recent years truly proving he is a top talent who could so easily be WWE champion but will a push await him? Who should he challenge?
