Recently Released WWE Stars Who Should Go to IMPACT
As we all know, the WWE recently revealed they had released
a bunch of their current talent from former champions to referees and backstage
workers including Finlay. Many of the cuts left fans incredibly surprised
indeed but the end of the WWE road does not mean the end of a career and in 2020
there are plenty of options for wrestlers away from World Wrestling
Entertainment. Of course, one of the biggest attractions in the industry today
is new company on the block AEW but there is another promotion that could revive
the careers of many of the recently released stars and could work as a very
fitting next stop on their journey; IMPACT wrestling remains an underdog promotion
within the industry but with a diverse
roster and entertaining content just who could make the right jump from WWE to
IMPACT?
All the names above could go on to do so much away from the WWE and I’m sure they will go on to do amazing things. While AEW is a favourite for many of the stars, we have spoken about today to head to its IMPACT I personally believe could be the right place for them right now and where they will shine the brightest at this stage of their careers.

Eric Young
It always frustrated me just how wrong the WWE got it with
Eric Young. Sanity had so much potential and to this day it angers me that this
was not an angle the company continued to work on and unfortunately dropped way
too soon. There was always so much potential for Young to do so much in the WWE
creatively but never had the chance, however, over in IMPACT Wrestling Young
was a pretty big star. A key member of the roster this is former IMPACT World
champion and fan favorite who worked solid angles and storylines and showed
several elements of his character. Re-joining IMPACT is something I would love
to see for Young! We know the company book him right and with WWE connections
in Madman Fulton, there is some nice work we could see between those two! Along
with collisions with the likes of Sami Callihan and Eddie Edwards, there are
some dream matches and storylines awaiting Young that will prove just how wrong
the WWE got it with him.
Lio Rush
Lio Rush is a man I’m sure will be just fine following his
WWE release. Young and full of charisma and insane wrestling abilities there is
sure to be many wrestling promotions wanting to get their hands on him but
could IMPACT Wrestling be the right first stop? Okay, so I know so many of you
will want to see Rush make his way to AEW and trust me I can see why and I too
would love to see him head their eventually but I do believe IMPACT could be a
very fitting spot for the former Cruiserweight champion. Slotting into the X-Division
perfectly there are many encounters sure to highlight the depths of his move
set and Rush himself would most certainly bring a lot to the roster and the
division. IMPACT could see a number of standout matches from Rush against an
array of different opponents and the former WWE star is very likely to bring
out the best in many of the other names on the roster.
Primo and Epico
If you have read my previous posts on IMPACT wrestling you
would have seen me comment on the state of the tag team division there. While
they have some great talents, it is an area the company are struggling with and
need improving on, the release of long-term WWE stars Primo and Epico could
solve a big problem they face. The two are very experienced within the industry
but just haven’t had the chance to show that experience and how good they
really are. IMPACT is sure to give them a spotlight they have not had while
also adding depth to their tag team division. I do believe the pair would get
lost in AEW after a while and as for now, IMPACT appears to be the best place
for them, the most fitting and where we can be sure they will have the
strongest and most consistent showing playing a genuine key role.
Erick Rowan
I’m very interested to see where Erick Rowan will go
following his WWE release. Something tells me Japan may be where we see him
head eventually but IMPACT could also provide him with an interesting
opportunity! The company has a good history of how they book their big guy
talents and Rowan most certainly falls into that category. The latest monster
of the IMPACT zone it's here he could finally be taken very seriously indeed to
the point where we could be looking at a future IMPACT World Champion. A
collision with the likes of Eddie Edwards could show just how good he is in the
ring but also how dangerous and open him up to some big-time opportunities. I’ve
always felt Rowan has been very underrated and I believe IMPACT could be career-changing for the former tag team champion.
Mike and Maria Kanellis
Again, I hate that the WWE never got things right with Mie
and Maria Kanellis. The company were making mistakes with these two from the
get-go and it’s such a shame considering the amount of character and charisma
they bring to the table along with the experience. During their time in IMPACT
prior to signing with the WWE, the two proved just how great they can be not
only in the ring but as characters, leading storylines and angles that stood as
some of the most entertaining I have seen in IMPACT history. Returning is most
certainly an option for them and while they would most certainly fit in well
with AEW there are just too many creative options I want to see play out for
these two upon an IMPACT return including a collision with Tessa Blanchard which
could be something very entertaining and interesting to watch! The pair are
also sure to bring something to the roster that
is missing and open up more creative angles.
is missing and open up more creative angles.
Curt Hawkins
Curt Hawkins has been underrated pretty much his entire career and while we won't be seeing him on his way to winning any wrestler of the year awards departing with the WWE once again at least gives him a chance to make a stronger impact. Competition is higher than ever in the wrestling industry but we are also seeing more opportunities than ever before and that's something Hawkins, in particular, will really benefit from. IMPACT is a very fitting place for Curt where we are sure to see more of his character work shown to its full potential with a few decent matches along the way. Unlike some of the names, we have mentioned today I don't' believe we will see a new main event star grace the IMPACT zone but this is a huge opportunity for him to at least have the spotlight and take part in something! All the names above could go on to do so much away from the WWE and I’m sure they will go on to do amazing things. While AEW is a favourite for many of the stars, we have spoken about today to head to its IMPACT I personally believe could be the right place for them right now and where they will shine the brightest at this stage of their careers.
