NXT Main Roster Call Ups That Need to Happen in 2017

Over the past twelve months, we have seen a huge shift in the way the NXT roster looks. With originals such as Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Finn Balor, American Alpha, Enzo and Cass, and Carmella all making the jump up to the main roster there is a different feel to NXT with new top stars taking centre stage and new names making their arrival in NXT. The brand has continued to be a strong talking point for the WWE with several standout live shows and phenomenal matches that have kept the main roster under pressure. Every year the bar is raised higher in regards to NXT and this year the guys and girls down at Full Sail look to continue making history and raising that bar. However, we can also expect another change in the regular faces as more names are certainly set to make their jump up to either Monday night RAW or Smackdown LIVE. Last year saw more NXT superstars drafted to the main roster than ever before in one year and over the next twelve months many more will be joining them. In today's blog post we are going to be taking a look at some of those names as I count down five NXT Superstars that need to get their main roster call up in two thousand and seventeen. In the past, I have written posts like this so so many times and they have always gone down well and sparked conversation so I look forward to hearing your opinions this week! Before we get started I want to quickly announce that this year I am going to be bringing you special seasons every other month here on my blog. As you know, at the moment I'm currently running British Wrestling season here but in a few months time, I do plan on taking a look at bringing back NXT season! As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow including all my posts from both British Wrestling season and of the Year season. Finally, you can let me know which NXT Superstars YOU think need to be called up in twenty seventeen by leaving a comment bellow or tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

Samoa Joe
We kick start today's blog post off with an obvious pick, Samoa Joe. There is probably no man more in needed of a call-up to the main roster this year than former two-time NXT Champion, Samoa Joe. It's pretty much reached the point where there is nothing else for Joe down in NXT and his kind of outstayed his welcome. In the time that he has spent a part of the NXT roster he hs made history competing in some of the best matches we have seen the brand produce against some of the biggest names in NXT such as Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura and of course, Kevin Owens. He has competed in the fist ever NXT Steel cage match and became the first man in history to become a two-time NXT champion. He sure has done it all. He's been the good guy, the bad guy, and the guy and now it's time he moved on to even bigger and better things up on the main roster. We have all been predicting when Joe will make the jump up to either Monday night RAW or Smackdown LIVE and boy have the WWE kept us waiting! Personally, I was predicting to see Joe called up at last year's Royal Rumble pay per view or even later on in the year following his loss to Shinsuke Nakamura in the Summer and so the second title run did come as a huge surprise to me, I think that win was something that did surprise us all! Now however Joe is not being held back in NXT with that championship. After once again dropping the title to Nakamura last month he has no reason to really stick around in NXT like I said, he's done it all and the main roster is where we need to see him this year and sooner rather than later. With the Royal Rumble fast approaching Samoa Joe is one of the favourites as a surprise entrant this year and I have to say that he's someone I really am expecting to see make an appearance later this month at the Royal Rumble pay per view. I have already mentioned that I really do think he's a name the Smackdown LIVE roster could really do with! Joe joining the blue brand would be huge for Smackdown LIVE and the potential storyline's against the likes of Dean Ambrose, AJ Styles and even the Miz is something to be very excited about. Just think about what he could bring to that IC title!

Tye Dillinger
Tye Dillinger really has had a rollercoaster ride since joining NXT, in fact, he's had one rollercoaster of a career! Despite working in WWE developmental brand for the past few years Tye is no stranger to the ring. Wrestling throughout his life and working for the WWE on and off for ten years now he's an experienced star that has finally won over the hearts of the WWE universe and the respect of everyone backstage. Over the past two years, in particular, Tye has become one of the most popular stars on the NXT roster thanks to he's brilliant, perfect ten gimmick. I will admit that at first I wasn't the biggest fan of this gimmick at all but I can sit here now and say I honestly do think it's fantastic! Whenever his music hits the crowd are up on their feet with their ten chants echoing around the arena. He caters to all audiences young, old, male, female, all around the world and has become one of the most marketable and fun superstars in the WWE today. He really is an amazing talent however his time in NXT is coming to an end and it's finally time for Dillinger to make the jump up to the main roster. This is a moment that Tye has been waiting for ten years. To finally make an impact on RAW or Smackdown LIVE and after spending so much time working on building his character and popularity down in NXT the time could not be more perfect and he for sure is ready to shine up on the main roster. In recent months he's been competing in some truly fantastic matches including a great bout against Bobby Roode at NXT Takeover Toronto. While he hasn't picked up big big wins his performances and fan reactions have been enough to place him as one fo the top guys in NXT today and keeping all that in mind I cannot wait to see him finally make his way up to either RAW or Smackdown. In all fairness, he could go to either brand and make it work however I do believe that bigger and better things will be waiting for him on Smackdown LIVE and he will for sure be given better opportunities on the blue brand. He is the one superstar I'm confident we will be seeing getting their call-up to the main roster this year and I have to say I'm very very excited to see what twenty seventeen awaits for Tye Dillinger.

Shinsuke Nakamura
Up next we have the current NXT Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. Yet another obvious choice, Shinsuke Nakamura is a name we have all been wanting to see make the jump up to the main roster with many expecting him to have been drafted to either RAW or Smackdown back in the Summer during the brand split. Personally, I never for a second expected to see him drafted on draft night. It was clear the WWE was not going to call him up before he held that NXT championship and so I've been predicting his main roster debut to take place at some point in twenty seventeen. One thing I did not expect however was seeing him become a two-time NXT champion. I love how NXT have gone down the road of making superstars hold a championship in NXT more than once it adds to the fact that NXT really is shifting and changing more and more as it grows. The rivalry between Nakamura and Joe was one of the highlights of two thousand and sixteen and as they both look to conclude their journey in NXT they both focus on arriving and making an impact up on the main roster. There is no doubt in my mind that Shinsuke Nakamura will be one of the names that make their way up to the bigger leagues. The WWE have left us all waiting a long time for Nakamura's main roster debut and I'm confident we will be seeing at some point this year. In all honesty, I wouldn't go getting excited about that arrival taking place in the early months of the year. I'm more so expecting to see him debut in the Summer, he could arrive sooner maybe even the night after Wrestlemania if we're lucky. Now, regardless of when he will be getting his call up, we can guarantee that his work on either RAW or Smackdown LIVE (depending on where he's drafted) is going to be amazing. There is talent on both rosters I would love to see him clash with this year including the likes of Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and maybe even John Cena if we're lucky. There are some brilliant things coming up for Shinsuke this year and there is no doubt he will be one of the standout stars of the year once again.

Asuka
As I sit here and write this blog post Asuka remains undefeated in NXT as the current NXT Women's champion and what a champion she has been! Now, I'm going to have to admit that in comparison to other fans I'm not the biggest Asuka fan. I do love her and I know that she is fantastic in ring talent, there is no denying that but I just have never found myself as big on her as many other fans. Last year Asuka did have a fantastic twelve months. Going a year undefeated she has managed to fight every woman that has stood in her way with no competitor being able to knock her off the top spot. After defeating Bayley during Wrestlemania week last year she has been an unbelievable champion taking out women such as Bayley, Liv Morgan, Nia Jax and more recently Mickie James and now she walks into the brand new year still the most dominate women in NXT today in fact she walks into twenty seventeen the most dominate women in the WWE today. Now, just like Samoa Joe, Asuka has reached the point in her NXT career where there simply is nothing left for her as it appears she has done everything there is to do. She's taken out every woman in the locker room, she has managed to make history by becoming the second longest reigning NXT women's Champion and has provided us with some great matches, now it's time for her to focus her attentions on the main roster and making her way to either Monday night RAW or Smackdown LIVE. This year we can expect her to drop that title, ideally within in the next couple of months. Names such as Nikki Cross and Ember Moon are favourites to take the win and become the new NXT Women's champion and I have to say that the idea of either one of those women taking that title makes me very happy. I also really really look forward to seeing what Asuka is going to bring to the table up on the main roster. I have been saying for a long time that I would love to see a feud between her and Sasha Banks and maybe even work between Asuka and Paige and Charlotte and the thought of those happening within the next year is something that majorly excites me! The women's division continues to grow in the WWE and the bar just rises even higher, the addition of Asuka up on Monday night RAW or Smackdown LIVE would be huge in the development in the division in twenty seventeen.

The Revival
And finally, we have arguably the best tag team in the world right now, former NXT Tag team champions, the Revival. I have had such an interesting change of opinions on these guys. Most of you will know that at first, I was never the biggest fan of Dash and Dawson when they first broke out and I spoke about that a lot here on my blog and over on social media. However, over the past year, these two have managed to completely change how I feel about them and I can honestly sit here and tell
you that the Revival are one of my favourite tag teams not only in the WWE but in the world today. They simply are amazing. An old school team with fantastic skill these are two men that have been dominating and changing the way tag team wrestling is seen around the world. I would go as far to say they have saved tag team wrestling in a time where the division really has been suffering. Throughout the past twelve months, we have seen them deliver some truly phenomenal matches that I personally have not stopped talking about! Their feud and bouts against American Alpha, Enzo and Cass, and DIY where standouts of two thousand and sixteen and as you would have seen if you tuned into my of the year season last month, their two out of three falls match for the tag team championships against DIY at NXT Takeover Toronto was my two thousand and sixteen match of the year. They have had a fantastic run in NXT making history as the first ever two-time NXT Tag team champions and raising the bar for future men to hold that title and other teams to make their way to the NXT roster and now it's time for them to move on even bigger and better things up on the main roster. There are no two men more worthy of a spot on the main roster tag team division and what they are set to bring to either brand they are drafted to is very very exciting. Personally, I would love to see them go up to Monday night RAW. We have seen a feud between them and the New Day teased in the past and that remains something I would love to see. What is so amazing about these two call ups is they are just so amazing and whatever brand has them really will benefit from the presence.

And there we have it! That is my list of five NXT main call-ups think need to happen in two thousand and seventeen. As always I would love to know what you think so feel free to leave a comment bellow or tweet me over at @TezangiVictoria telling me who you think and who you would like to see called up to the main roster this year!
