Dream Main Roster Opponents for: Matt Riddle

With Matt Riddle making one heck of an impact on the NXT roster and chasing after NXT gold during Wrestlemania weekend this year he remains a huge talking point in the WWE and world of Professional Wrestling. An exciting and unique talent, Riddle has won over the NXT universe and while he isn’t all too close to a main roster debut in today’s blog post we are going to be diving into his future and looking at some of the dream main roster opponents that await him on either RAW or Smackdown LIVE.

Seth Rollins

As far as dream matches go, Seth Rollins vs Matt Riddle most certainly is high on the list. As two leading and exciting faces of the future of the WWE, their collision is one, I’m sure the majority of wrestling fans would pay to see! Out of every match, I’m going to be mentioning today it's this that excites me the most! With both men massively popular with fans this would be a contest that sees fans greatly divided and with Rollins’ skillset, move set, and talent he makes for an excellent talent to give Riddle his first big match on the main roster to allow the new star to show the world what he is capable of and all about.

Brock Lesnar

This one will, of course, come as no surprise but With Matt Riddle making comments regarding his desire to retire Brock Lesnar fans are most certainly expecting this match to take place at some point in the future. The pair have their similarities and with Riddle’s intense strikes, experience and background there is no denying this would make for an exciting and unpredictable encounter. The passing of the torch element here is strong and with the two representing a different kind of main event talent despite their in-ring similarities, Riddle would be an excellent choice to retire Lesnar and send a message that new era has truly begun.

Cesaro

Just like many others, I am a big fan of the Bar. Sheamus and Cesaro have gone from strength to strength since they teamed up a couple of years ago and have become one of the best tag teams on the main roster today but there is no denying both men have so much to bring to the table as singles stars especially  Cesaro who to this day hasn’t been given the opportunity to shine properly on the main roster on his own. Taking on Riddle in one on one competition will most certainly remind fans of just how good he really is and with the pair representing exactly what the future and new era in the WWE will look like this is a fantastic match to show the world! I really do believe this could be one of the most exciting matches on this list today and the pair could completely spark a new conversation discussing what a main event star in the WWE should really look like.

Bobby Lashley

It’s rare we see Bobby Lashley featured in many “dream opponent” articles but with the shared backgrounds there was no way I couldn’t include the current Intercontinental champion in today’s blog post. While strikingly different in terms of appearance their speed, skill and backgrounds are very much matched, and I do believe that if Riddle was to come up to the main roster and challenge Lashley then fans will see an entirely different side to the destroyer. With Lio Rush by his side also the promo work would be much stronger, and the storyline’s the WWE could create here are very interesting! Riddle could very well bring out the best in Lashley we have seen since he made his return to the WWE and this is yet another encounter that will really show what Riddle is bringing to the table on the main roster.

Daniel Bryan

Two free-spirited characters standing out for being massively different to the majority of their fellow WWE superstars how could you not want to see this match up? Bryan is one of the most skilled, talented superstars with such an interesting new character and when colliding with Matt Riddle fans really are in for a treat! Taking on Bryan will allow Riddle to show a different side to his move set in comparison to the other names we have mentioned today and highlight him as one of the most diverse and unique talents on the roster.

Rusev

It’s been a while since I mentioned Rusev here on my blog but let’s not forget he remains one of my favourite WWE superstars and pro wrestlers in the industry today! I may not be a fan of his alliance with Shinsuke Nakamura but there is nothing that can take away the sheer talent and potential this man possesses. Throughout his WWE career so far we have seen Rusev take part in fantastic matches whether it be against John Cena or a star like AJ Styles and every time RuRu has left us all massively impressed! Looking towards the future, I want nothing more than for Rusev to have more opportunities at showing the world what he is capable of and just how good he truly is and I believe putting him in the ring with a talent like Riddle will allow him to do exactly that! While its likely in this scenario we would see Riddle go over if the pair are given enough time then this could really turn things around for Rusev once again not to mention how awesome this match would be!
