5 Superstars Who Should Have Been Roman Reigns Mystery Attacker
In recent weeks fans have been tuning in to the “Who
attacked Roman Reigns” angle over on Smackdown LIVE. With so many different theories
and options around who the culprit could be there was great discussion and
debate amongst fans however it was recently revealed that the attacker was in
fact, Erick Rowan, a revelation that has… divided fans to say the least. But did
the WWE get it right? Was Rowan the right pick? And if not just who should have
been named Roman Reign’s mystery attacker?
Buddy Murphy
There’s something quite fitting about the WWE’s self-proclaimed
“Best kept secret” being revealed as Roman Reigns mystery attacker. Now, for a
short while, Murphy was in fact involved in this angle and while it did great
things for him to have this involvement and spotlight for a short while it
would have made for a great steppingstone to see Murphy revealed as the real
attacker. The former NXT and 205LIVE star is an incredible talent with so much
to offer and after spending months not being treated the way he deserved to be
it would have made all the sense in the world for him to attack the big dog in
an attention-seeking mission looking to finally get his moment in the
spotlight. The WWE had the chance here to really make a star out of Murphy and
an opportunity was most certainly missed.
Lars Sullivan
It’s been a while since fans last saw Lars Sullivan. Now,
despite my personal opinions (and disliking for) of Sullivan there really is no
denying he is a great talent with a damn lot to offer and the story of who
attacked Roman Reigns was actually very fitting to his character. Revealing him
to be the mystery attacker may not have drawn fans in as much as others on the
list today but showcasing his barbaric actions, ruthless, dangerous attitudes
and antics would have allowed the WWE Universe to truly see what Sullivan is
all about. Not to mention, targeting a major name like Reigns ensures a great
deal of attraction regardless and would have put a strong spotlight on the newcomer.
Andrade
Andrade is yet another name who really does tick all the
boxes but just hasn’t quite reached that big push just yet. Since his arrival on
the main roster, the former NXT champion has taken part in several standout matches
but a major storyline is yet to take place. Now, being named Reigns’ mystery
attacker would have been very interesting and a different path for Andrade but
still rather fitting. This would have explored a new angle for the up and
coming talent where in which his focus was to make an impact and finally get
the spotlight, he believes he deserves. It would have been great to see Andrade
involved in a bigger storyline especially one that enables Zelina to also play
a big role.
Aleister Black
My personal favourite in the build-up to the reveal of Roman
Reigns Mystery attacker was, in fact, former NXT Champion Aleister Black. Despite
his rare appearances for WWE TV Black is talked-about talent fans are sure
will go on to do great things on the main roster. He has already had solid
performances on PPV and episodes of Smackdown LIVE and his promos genuinely captivate
audiences and bring something new. Now, what Black really does need is a strong
storyline and revealing him to be Reigns mystery attacker would have given him
exactly that. Motive would have been the interesting and more difficult element
to add to this story but the intensity of his actions and targeting such a big
name like Reigns would have been huge for Aleister and allowed him to really
make an impact, get fans talking, and start a strong storyline. It would have
also made for a great opportunity to showcase Black in the role of a heel.
Sami Zayn
And the final name I wanted to discuss today is Sami Zayn. Now,
I do believe the WWE could do be doing a heck of a lot more with Zayn and he
really is being held back massively! The role of mystery attacker here would have
made for a great opportunity for Zayn. Whether or not he left the rivalry on
top we could have seen some great work from the former NXT Champion. Here we
have an incredible talent who really has been held back for years and with his
previous work with Reigns in mind, his character development recently and mic
skills the story really could have developed well while also showing a
completely new side to Zayn. I’m also confident we would have seen some great in-ring work between the two.
While I have touched on five great picks that could have
been revealed as Reigns attacker, I have to admit that this weeks episode of
Smackdown LIVE did leave me believing the WWE are onto something here giving
