Night Of Champions Predictions: Seth Rollins VS Sting

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good. This Sunday live on the WWE Network and cable TV, the WWE will present the two thousand and fifteen Night Of Champions pay per view. The show will be held in Houston Texas as the WWE takes over the Toyota Center and the match card is without a doubt one of the strongest of the year so far. If I'm being completely honest, I have over the years lost a lot of interest in this pay per view. If we go back six years ago or so the scene was very different and we had many more championships on the roster and so it does kind of feel like there's no need for the pay per view any more. However, I am super excited for the show this Sunday and I'm looking forward to most of the matches set to take place. Throughout this week it is of course Night Of Champions prediction week witch means that all week right up until Saturday I will be uploading my full predictions for every single match on the Night Of Champions card. I will be recapping all of the action from the past month, taking a look back at what all the superstars have been up too and then of course taking an even deeper look into the individual predictions. On Sunday I will of course be live tweeting throughout the show and the links to all my social media will be listed bellow at the end of the post. Also on Sunday I'll be uploading my support pictures to let you know who I will be backing for every match. Before we start I have a couple of updates for you. Now, next month I will have a new series on my blog. July and August was of course NXT month (and I still have a couple of blog post to upload from that) but next month it will be a new series here and I would love to know what you would like to see, so let me know down in the comments bellow. You have two weeks to let me know what you want next month to be dedicated too. I also would really love to know what posts you would like to see here on my blog before October. I really want to start uploading more regularly and writing more diverse blog posts so let me know as well what you would like to read every day. I will link bellow any recent blog post and you can let me know what your predictions are for all the matches this weekend by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

After he's shock return to the WWE at the end of August, this Sunday live on the WWE Network, Sting will challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a battle of the Architect VS The Icon at Night Of Champions. The booking is very clever and interesting and in today's blog post I'm going to be dissecting everything taking a look back at what both these superstars have been up to over the past month and discussing why the WWE have decided to book this match. There is so much to get through today so let's waste no more time and jump right into things.

On the night after the biggest SummerSlam pay per view in history we saw the shock return of the vigilante Sting when he surprised The Authority and the WWE Universe by spoiling Seth Rollins statue reveal live on Monday night RAW. The return was completely unexpected as even though there had been rumours for months of Sting's return to the WWE, he's feud with Rollins was one that not many of us saw coming. The last time we had seen Sting it was all the way back at Wrestlemania when he had one of the most memorable matches we have ever seen taking on Triple H in a huge match up at the grandest stage of them all. Despite the interesting timing, this is not a random pairing what so ever. There is a great deal of history between Rollins and Sting after the icon made he's debut back at Survivor Series last year when he costs Seth Rollins and Team Authority a very important match up that resulted in them being removed from power. From the moment Sting arrived in the WWE that has been he's mission. To take down the Authority and even in this feud with Rollin that is still what the overall feel and goal is. This is a very common theme of storyline for Sting. If we go back to the last time we saw him compete for a championship at a pay per view main event it was a little over two years ago when he took on Bully Ray for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. The storyline was very very similar to what we are seeing now, Bully Ray was the head of Ace and Eights, a group of ruthless bikers who intended on controlling TNA. Just like with he's storyline with the Authority, Sting made it he's mission to take down the faction and being the one that stands up to the thugs. It took time for Bully to accept Sting challenge and he only agreed to go one on one with the icon when he added the stipulation that if Sting loss the match he would be prevented from ever challenging for the TNA title again. Sting took on the challenge without hesitation and went into the match knowing that the member's of the faction were bound to be lurking around. The comparison of this and Sting's feud with Rollins is uncanny. He is going into this match knowing that the much younger Seth Rollins, regardless of the tensions in the Authority at the moment, they will always have he's back and the chances of Rollins using the numbers game to he's advantage to keep hold of the championship is very likely but he's not fazed by it what so ever. Once again the vigilante is set to take down the alpha male of one of the most dominate factions in sports entertainment history, only this time instead of rough biker thugs he is taking on cooperate scum. What is so interesting about this match is after he's outstanding match with Triple H several months back at Wrestlemania Sting has made it clear he has a level of respect for Hunter but he does still obviously have a problem with the Authority and he knows that the one way to take them down for good is to take away all the momentum from their golden boy and of course take away the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Just like with he's feud with Bully Ray in two thousand and thirteen, defeating Rollins for the championship will signal a major shift in power. However, as we saw two years ago, Sting is capable of putting on a phenomenal match despite being fifty six years old without a doubt and he's bout with Bully Ray was absolutely outstanding it's a match that I still talk about to this day, but he was unable to defeat Bully because of the help from the fellow faction members of Ace and Eights. Will we be seeing history repeat itself this weekend? Will Sting once again fail to take down the Authority? Will Rollins have a plan B up he's sleeve? Or will Sting be able to finally put an end to what has been an impressive championship reign from the architect.

Here is what I wrote about Seth Rollins in last months top fifteen Superstars of August:
"Coming in at number three and just missing out on the top spot this month is WWE World Heavyweight Champion and United States Champion, Seth Rollins. It feels so good to finally be able to put Rollins back in my top twenty list and at a high number. You guys would have all seen that over the past three months or so I haven't had much positive things to say about Rollins. We kind of saw him go through a dodgy side in he's career were everything just felt repetitive and predicable and as a Seth Rollins fan it was beyond frustrating to watch. However, the month of August has been a good one for Rollins and we have finally seen him climb back on top and prove why he is the champion of all champions in the WWE right now. Right at the very start of the month we saw Seth go one on one with Adrian Neville in what was an amazing championship match. We hardly get to see championship defended on RAW and even though the match was predicable it was one of my favourites of the entire month and it was the start of Rollins making he's way back to the top and in my good books. The week after that he defend the championship yet again when he took on Randy Orton in what was yet another great match. I cannot put into words just how much I have enjoyed watching Rollins defend the champions. It's so refreshing seeing matches that feel so important on RAW instead of saving all the championship matches at pay per view shows. It was about time he was booked as a champion and we really saw that this month, finally. He also had one great Smackdown match when he teamed up with Kevin Owens to take on the team of Cesaro and Adrian Neville where he yet again had another strong showing. The biggest storyline for Rollins this month has been he's feud with Cena when he broke he's nose taking the fifteen time champion out of action for a couple of weeks. Throughout  August we saw some really strong promos from Rollins witch have contributed to him coming in at number two. Then of course we had the phenomenal championship VS Championship match at SummerSlam witch was just outstanding if we don't include the closing moments. Rollins was without a doubt the star of this match and you can see what I thought of this match in my SummerSlam Review witch will be linked bellow. Now, I may not have been and still may not like the idea of one superstar holding two championships at the same time but I cannot deny that Rollins earned that position and deserved it. He has been cemented as one of the greats of this generation and he's performance at SummerSlam will be one we all remember for years to come."

The past month has seen Seth Rollins finally get back on track after a couple of weaker months. We spent a lot of time seeing Rollins booking start to get very predicable and repetitive and I mentioned a couple of times that I lost a lot of interest in the main event picture because of this. However, throughout August the booking started to get much much better as we saw Rollins defend the championship on several occasions. He put the title on the line against Randy Orton, Adrian Neville, and John Cena, all of witch were absolutely amazing and featured in my top twenty matches of the month blog post witch will be linked bellow.  He had a handful of strong matches and defend the championship at least three times in one month. It's a common thing now days in the WWE to not see titles defended very often so it has been refreshing to see Rollins putting the title on the line. I will link bellow my top twenty matches of the month blog post that went up at the start of September; in that list you can check out what I thought of some of Rollins greatest matches of August. Now, if I am being completely honest, I have spent a lot of time before August questioning the title reign of Seth Rollins and whether or not it has met my expectations. There were a couple of months where I wasn't sure what to think and I lost a lot of interest in the main event picture because of the repetitive work and the lazy feel that the writing had, however when you look at what Rollins has done in the past nine months alone and what he has brought to the championship, there is no denying that he's reign has been extremely successful. At Wrestlemania thirty one, Seth made history when he became the first superstar to cash in the Money In The Bank briefcase on the main stage and since then he has remained as the WWE's top star. There have been a couple of stupid decisions made and the fact that he has been booked as the coward champion hasn't impressed me very much at all and I have spent a lot of time complaining both here on my blog and over on twitter. However, he has managed to come up on top regardless of the challenges and if we look at some of the challengers he has faced since becoming champion, no one can out it past Rollins; he is one of the best champions the WWE has seen in recent years. From Randy Orton to Brock Lesnar. From Ambrose to John Cena. The self proclaimed future of the WWE has taken on every man that has stood in he's way and there is no doubt that he has had some credible competition. We have also seen him use the Authority and even Jon Stewart  to keep hold of that championship but we cannot take away the fact that he has won on he's own when needed and that is just another factor that contributes to why he is such a great champion. He's the top heel of the company and has been for the past year, using the people around him to keep gold around he's waste has been a fantastic tactic and while at times he has come across as the coward champion in the end he has sucked it up and delt with it. Now, last month we saw Rollins feud with Cena were at SummerSlam they had a champion VS Champion match. A match and feud that did not sit well with me in the slightest. I spent all of August moaning about how much I hate the fact that one superstar is going to end up holding both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship and to be fair I do still stick by everything I said last month. I still don't like the idea. I think it takes away a lot of opportunity for other superstars on the roster, however, the way Seth has been booked and the story that they have told has changed how I feel a lot. Taking on Sting say's a lot about the amount of trust the WWE have in the young star. He has already taken on some of the biggest names  in the companies history throughout he's career as both a baby face and a heel including Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Randy Orton, Kane, the New Age Outlaws, John Cena and alongside he's former Shield partners he even took out the Undertaker. Adding Stings name to the list of people the architect has stepped in the ring with just adds to he's credibility.

Sting VS Seth Rollins is clever booking. Most of us were expecting to see a SummerSlam rematch after the controversial ending to the championship VS Championship match or the inevitable match between Kane and Rollins witch we are all still expecting at some point.  However, we are getting something very different this Sunday. A match that we have never seen taken place before. The Architect VS The Vigilante. This is a big match with big potential and I honestly believe that this could easily be one of the best of not only the month but of the year. They are both bringing something very different too the table. Sting has years of experience. He knows how to tell a story, show he's experience, and push he's opponents to their limits. Rollins is brining youth and a level of athleticism that we rarely see. He knows how to sell moves perfectly and throughout this match he will be doing just that. Rollins will be the one who pushes Sting to a whole new level and they both will force one another to bring something out that we haven't seen from either of them. We know that despite he's age, Sting can still put on phenomenal matches as I have already mentioned. It took Bully Ray one heck of a fight to take out the icon and this weekend Seth will have to go to the exact same level if he wants to keep hold of he's championship. This is exactly how I like to see part timers like Sting booked. In the past we have had a lot of part timers take on part timers and it doesn't have the effect that we want to see. With Rollins VS Sting we are getting an old school, veteran, part timer taking on and elevating a young up and coming talent and that is exactly how they should be used. When it comes down to who I think will be leaving the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, I genuinely think there are several possible out comes and that is one of the reasons I'm really looking forward to this match. I'm not going to be ruling out Sting walking out as champion what so ever. We know from the past thew years that the WWE are not afraid to put a major championship on a part timer.  They have done it before with the Rock and with Brock Lesnar so what is stopping them from doing the same with Sting. I also think it's very interesting that Sting is performing at this particular pay per view. This isn't the biggest show of the yea at all and is more an after thought so having him on the card brings more excitement to the show and he is brining exactly what Lesnar brought to Battleground a couple of months back. Now, one of the more likely outcomes is of course Sheamus and the money in the bank brief case. I said it last month and I will say it again, it is only a matter of time that the WWE have Sheamus cash in and there have been many hints that he could be doing so this Sunday. Over the past month we have seen tensions grow between Rollins and the Authority with Cena even pointing out the Authority always do what is best for business and the moment the
championship is not in their hands they will dump him back on the side. This weekend Rollins is under immense pressure. He will be competing in two huge matches and by the time he takes on Sting he is still going to e recovering from he's match with Cena from earlier on in the night. He is bound to be tired and far from one hundred percent. Sting will without a doubt use this to he's advantage and it will take Seth a lot to get through this physical match. If Sting then picks up the victory the chances are that Sheamus will ruin the celebration and cash in. The Authority are going to need a plan B just in case Rollins drops the title and Sheamus will be that Plan B and in effect Rollins would turn bay face witch would be an interesting development. The other possible outcome is Kane returns and inter-fears in the match. Kane has been gone or around two months now and we are all expecting him to make he's return soon. It's highly likely that he will be back this weekend and will play a vital role in the main event. He could either come back and help Rollins and then turn on him after or he could just come out and sneekly cost Rollins the match. Of course the last possible ending is that the match just ends cleanly and Rollins retains the title proving himself once again. Either way, regardless of the ending this is bound to be a fantastic match up and it's one I'm very very excited about.
