Hell in a Cell Review and Reactions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good. So last night was the two thousand and fifteen Hell in a Cell pay per view and what a night it was. Failing to disappoint, the show was the barbaric, unsettling and sinister night it was supposed to be and for the first time in a long time, Hell in a Cell felt like the dangerous and unpredictable structure it was years ago. Focusing more of on the brutality of the hell in a cell structure rather than keeping out outside interference, the night was much much more enjoyable and I was left surprised with just how good many of the matches were. Talking of surprises, the WWE had many in store for us last night including a shock return from Alberto Del Rio, and an interesting ending to the night that saw the Wyatt family attack the Undertaker and leave the ring with the lifeless body of the phenom. In today's blog post I will be taking you back through every single match, promo, and segment from last night telling you what I thought of the entire show. Before we get into the blog post I have a couple of reminders and updates for you. Starting with of the year season. I have started pre posting for my Of The Year season witch will kick start on the first of December. I'm not sure witch post will be uploaded first but I can assure that that the series will be one not to miss. As we get closer to December I will be uploading reminders so you know when to expect the first post to be uploaded. I will also be uploading a blog post at the start of December telling you about some changes coming to Talk Wrestling World and what the upload time table will look like throughout Christmas and New Year. As usual I will link bellow any recent blog post including last weeks RAW Review and Reactions. Finally, you can let me know what YOU thought of last night's show by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

Before we get talking about the actual Hell in a Cell pay per view we need to take a brief look at the kick off show where we see Rusev, King Barrett, and Mr Money in the bank Sheamus take on the team of Dolph Ziggler, Adrian Neville, and Cesaro in a RAW rematch. I wasn't jumping up and down with excitement for this one. It wasn't something that was hyped or made a big deal out of but because of the fact that these six superstars are such strong talents I had high expectations, hopeing that they would be able to put on a solid match in the small space that they were given. They ended up doing exactly that. I was surprised with how well both teams worked together. I did feel that will Team Ziggler everyone was simply an individual superstar and it was a case of three strong talents being put together doing there own thing. However, with team Rusev they for me felt much more like a team especially with Barrett and Sheamus but that's most likely because of the strong chemistry they have and how well they naturally work together. The heels did take control of the match early on. We saw them beat down and ground both Dolph Ziggler and Neville, with Ziggler taking the worse of it. The match looked to be going in the way of team Rusev but the moment the tag was made and Cesaro entered the match there was a shift in control and the former United States Champion dominated. He was without a doubt the most over of the six superstars and was very very impressive throughout the night. The closing moments saw all three superstars work together to pick up the victory. The King of Swing took to Barrett and a Red Arrow from Neville saw them score the first win of the night. Once again throughout the match we saw Stardust and the Ascension sitting in the crowd teasing Cesaro. I can honestly say that I have zero interest in this growing feud. It doesn't entertain me and I'm actually dreading what is to come. I'm sure that Cesaro and Stardust could deliver an amazing match given the time but once again it boils down to a character thing and I just don't think it's good enough for Cesaro in particular. However, like it or not this is something that will come to light very very soon. The match last night was nothing out of this world but it was a good start to the night and did the job in needed too. I was left ready and excited for the full Hell in a Cell pay per view but like I said last week. These are six superstars with little direction and they all deserve to be involved in a strong, solid storyline sooner rather than later.

The opening match of the Hell in a Cell main show was of course the John Cena United States Championship open challenge. I was very excited for this match. There were many many rumours about who would be accepting from Dean Ambrose, to Daniel Bryan, to Tyler Breeze but when Zeb Colter's music hit none of us could have predicted what was about to happen next. When I saw Zeb come out I was honestly expecting Swagger to be following him and we would finally be witnessing a Jack Swagger push but instead Colter announced one heck of a surprise when he introduced Alberto Del Rio as Cena's opponent for the night. When the words "Alberto Del Rio" were mentioned I honestly thought I was dreaming. This was such a well kept secret and I don't think there was a single person in the world who could have predicted he's return last night despite the rumours of him coming back to the WWE at some point in the near future. I'm not entirely sure about the alliance of Del Rio  and Zeb Colter but it should be very interesting and entertaining if the WWE handle their pairing correctly. Del Rio did receive a strong reaction from the crowd and looked to be in fantastic shape. The match itself didn't really wow me. I think because of the excitement surrounding the shock return of Alberto I struggled to actually get into the match up. The two superstars do have a strong history and have a decent amount of chemistry witch was what made this match. Del Rio did out wrestle Cena keeping him grounded and on the matt. The closing moments were done well, it took a backstabber and a kick to the jaw for Alberto to pin Cena and become thew New United States Champion. Just like the return of the Dudley Boyz, Del Rio's come back last night was a huge surprise and with the power of the internet it's so difficult to have genuine surprises and keep things a secret but this was a very very well kept secret and it went down a treat with the WWE Universe. The match wasn't the best in the world but the surprise return kept this an exciting part of the night.

Personally, my match of the night was Bray Wyatt VS Roman Reigns. If you read my prediction post for this match you will know that I had high expectations and was genuinely backing Reigns after he earning the right to pick up a victory over Wyatt and proving himself throughout the past couple of months. You will know that I have never been the biggest Reigns fan, in fact I have probably been one of he's biggest critics, but I have always said it and I will say it again; I will be the first to give credit when it is due and Roman Reigns has worked he's butt off since the Royal Rumble and he has shown some seriously strong improvements. The match last night was done amazingly well and the two did not disappoint in the slightest. Wyatt and Reigns have such strong history and such strong chemistry this was a match that kept everyone extremely entertained. It was a slow paced, barbaric, brutal display of sadism. This match was everything it needed to be and exceeded my person expectations. At the start of the match Reigns went straight on the attack using all the momentum and built up frustrations to get the upper hand but there was a shift in control and a change of feel to the match when Wyatt cracked a Kendo stick in the face of Reigns. From the moment the match really did become barbaric and the sinister side to Wyatt truly came out. He followed up strikes with a Kendo stick with shots from steal chairs and sending Reigns into the cage wall. Throughout the match Wyatt really showed that he was at home inside the Hell in a Cell structure despite it being he's first time competing in one. He was very creative with the props and used he's whole surrounding to he's advantage. Reigns himself soon used he's own weaponry after pulling out a number of items from under the ring including a couple of tables. With how they both used the structure you would never have guessed that this was their first hell in a cell match. Now, over the years these matches have become much more about keeping out outside interference and much less about the brutality of the structure however this match really emphasised how dangerous Hell in a Cell is. The use of tables throughout this match was strong. We saw Wyatt send Reigns through a table and Reigns both power bombed and speared Reigns into/through a table, both getting huge reactions from the live crowd. They both showed strong resilience through very close near falls that had me at the edge of my seat. The chemistry between the two superstars made this match so much more entertaining and they proved to know each other very well with counters for each others best and must used moves. One of
the common theme's  throughout the match was Wyatt's mental madness and the unpredictability but I could never have predicted just how barbaric this match would be. They took each other to their limits and this turnt out to be the perfect match to showcase how far Roman Reigns has come over the past year. Reign's victory was convincing and well deserved and I was left very very satisfied with this match up.

With Xavier Woods at home nursing an injury, Big E and Kofi Kingston were left a man or should a say a unicorn down last night as they defended their tag team championships once again against the Dudley Boyz. However, despite being a man down their spirit and positivity was not lost as the the New Day claimed they would take down the Dudley Boyz and retain their tag team championships once again. The promo from the New Day before the match was a great way to make a shift in the over all feel of the night after a barbaric match moments before. The transition in mood was clear and effective as Kofi and Big E really did get everyone excited for the title match coming up. If I'm being honest, I wasn't super excited for this match. There was a good story and the build up was solid but for some reason I wasn't as excited for this match as I was the last time we saw these two teams fight for the championships. Bubba Ray and D-Von struggled with the champs early on in the match with missed communication and a messy botch. It was that little bit of missed communication witch allowed Kofi and Big E to gain the upper hand as they really took to D-Von sending him in their corner and isolating him from he's tag team partner. The trombone ended up being the star of the match, witch is a sentence you don't get to say every often. We saw Kofi try and make it look as though Bubba had used the trombone as a weapon to get him DQ'D but he was unable to fool the ref who made it clear he had not seen anything and so couldn't end the match. Moments later Big E actually used the now broken trombone to stun Bubba and allow Kingston to hit he's finisher and pick up the win. In all honesty, I was either expecting to see new champs crowned or Xavier Woods to make some kind of sneak return to cost the Dudley Boyz the match. However, seeing the New Day retain their titles (even though it wasn't clean) without Xavier Woods by their side made me very happy. The New Day really proved themselves last night and were very impressive once again. They showed two sides of their character and were once again one of the most entertaining superstars of the night.

Up next was divas action as Charlotte was set to defend her divas championship against former champion Nikki Bella. The two women did battle without their partners by their side so there was no team Bella at ringside and there was no Becky Lynch either witch I was delighted about. Having their tag team partners banned from ringside assured no outside interference and allowed the attention to be fully on the champion and the number one contender, the way it should be. I tweeted out last night that I was extremely disappointed with their previous match at Night of Champions. The story was messy and the way the match went made no sense. Nikki spent the whole match working on Charlotte's leg for Charlotte to eventually use her legs with ease to pick up the victory. Being so disappointed with that match I was expecting both women to up their game last night and give us something much much better and that is exactly what they did. We saw a lot of the action taken outside of the ring with Nikki sending Charlotte into the crowd witch was a nice spot and something a little different. Throughout the match we also saw Nikki use her outside surroundings to her advantage. To be fair, Nikki was very impressive throughout the match last night. She was very dominate and took on the role of the veteran. You could actually see her use her experience advantage and this turnt out to be the match she needed to put on while champion. She honestly did really impress me and she once again proved that she is capable of putting on a solid match, it simply comes down to timing and the opponent. The main story throughout this match was Nikki attacking the lower back of Charlotte and this time we actually got to see the injury come into play and it was remembered. Charlotte at times genuinely looked like she was in pain and struggling. We saw her struggle to make a comeback and when she went for the figure eight she showed that she was first unable to lock in the submission fully because of the pain on the lower back. Nikki injuring her knee was a great balance and gave Charlotte to work on. Because of the injured knee and Nikki's history with her knee it meant that when Charlotte locked the the figure eight for the second time the pressure on the leg/knee was too much and she had no choice but to tap out. Unlike their previous match this one had strong story telling and a good theme running through it. I do with it was longer but the match was much more lengthy than what we were getting this time last year. There were some great, impressive spots throughout this match that got the crowd talking. Nikki was for me the stand out of this match but it didn't feel like one was carrying the other. She really showed how far she had come as a performer and Charlotte of course was very impressive. The physicality was a lot stronger than what we usually see from the main roster divas division and was the first time we saw an improvement in the division since the revolution. I was left very impressed.

Seth Rollins was in action next as he defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Demon Kane. The build up was very strong and entertaining but where the WWE went wrong was giving away the match on RAW a couple of weeks back for free. If we didn't have that lumberjack match then I would have been much more interested last night. I also think the match would have been much better if it was a hell in a cell match witch is what I thought it was going to be so that was disappointing in itself. Throughout the match Rollins used he's speed to he's advantage and to get the upper hand witch worked. Kane did fight back with a choke slam, heavy shots but a failed tombstone attempt meant that Rollins was able to once again gain control. One of the highlights of this match saw the action go outside of the ring with both superstars moving to the announce tables where Kane took a nasty bump on the Spanish announce table witch once again put the spotlight on Rollins and made him look dominate and impressive. Rollins used a frog splash and eventually the pedigree to pick up the victory over Kane. The match was predicable and like I said because of the fact we had seen them go one on one a couple of weeks back the hype had died down and it wasn't as strong. It was a special night and pay per view for Kane as we all know but I don't feel as though he got he's special, highlight moment during this match. It was clear that both superstars tried to put on a viscous and violent match up but it didn't come across as strong as it should have done. It didn't feel like I was watching and important World Championship match up it felt like a typical Monday night RAW main event. Looking towards the future the WWE need to start slowly focusing on turning Rollins baby face but who steps in the ring to challenge him next will be interesting.

The weakest match of the night was hands down Kevin Owens VS Ryback. A weak build up, little story, and no major hype made this a filler match and was actually my bathroom break of the night. It was predicable and lacked entertainment. It didn't fit in with the strong card of the night and all I could think was the sooner this feud is over and and Owens could enter a much stronger feud the better. Owens was the centre of attention throughout this match. It wasn't a lengthy one on one at all but Owens did everything he could to make sure all eyes were firmly on him and he was. Ryback struggled a lot and he just wasn't really playing a big role. He received a surprising poor reaction from the live crowd. I did love the promo we saw from Owens during the kick off show but I don't think there was anything that could have gotten me into this match. The two superstars don't have great chemistry what so ever and now it's time for both of them to move onto something that will benefit them both strongly.

And finally, the main event. The final showdown between Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker. There was a lot of excitement both in the arena and in my own home with me and my brother being on opposite sides. In fact I was the only person on team Lesnar last night in my house. Before the match started we saw Lesnar showcase he's little respect for Taker laughing at the phenom. It was great seeing the Undertaker take the upper and at the start of this match. He didn't hold back and really really took it to the former world Champion sending him straight into the ring post witch would end up busting him open. The moment you see blood in a hell in a cell match, especially now days, it really does add to the dangerous, barbaric, life or death feel  the WWE push with the hell in a cell pay per view. With Lesnar quite literally covered in blood you really felt like this was a serious match and it increased the intensity. Lesnar soon responded to the abuse with several shots to the back using steal chairs. We did see officials try and get the beast away but he simply pushed them aside and sent Taker straight to suplex city. Taker however really didn't give up easily. He took a couple of F-'s,
chair shots, and a steel step being being thrown at him and it still didn't take him out. The canvas of the ring was soon torn up also witch just made this match feel even more serious. We then saw the Undertaker hit Lesnar with a choke slam on the exposed wood followed by a pile driver, but it just wasn't enough. Slaying this beast was not going to be east. The closing moments of this match were very well written and key. After hitting the low blow to Taker Lesnar followed it up with an F-5 to pick up the victory and the mos important win of the feud. After the match there was one more little surprise in store, something I didn't see coming what so ever. Bray Wyatt's music hit and making he's way to the ring with Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman by he's side we all knew what was coming and it didn't look good for Taker. He had just participated in a growling match up and was now taking a huge beating from three mountains. I was expecting a brothers of destruction reunion but I was kind of glad we didn't get it. Having young, fresh, new talent standing tall at the end of the night was a great little twist and really did get everyone excited for  RAW and Survivor series with a lot of questions as well. I really loved this main event. It was everything you could have asked for an amazing ending to a phenomenal feud. I loved the twist at the end as it really did tie the whole night together.

I don't know about you but I really really enjoyed this years Hell in a Cell. We had a couple of really really strong matches and some great little twists and surprises. We all have loads of questions on our minds and the hype around Survivor Series is strong. I would rate the show an eight and a half out of ten but I want to know what YOU think. So feel free to leave a comment bellow or tweet me at @TezangiVictoria letting me know what you thought of last night's show.
