After falling to American Alpha a couple of weeks back during a memorable tag team match, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murpthy kicked off this weeks show in the hunt to get some redemption and to prove to the NXT universe that their lost against Jordan and Gable was nothing but a fluke. I have already said it a million times before but the NXT Tag team division continues to be extremely impressive and entertaining. Every single team are able to put on a fantastic performance whenever they step in the ring and prove that the main roster teams are forever playing catch up.  During the early parts of this match Gable and Jordan toyed with their opponents. Gable in-particular was very impressive. He was clearly having a great time in the ring last night, playing games with Murphy Gable was so fun to watch just as he always is. Teasing Blake who waited in he's corner desperate to make the tag. Once Gable had finished first toying with Murphy he let Jordan have he's fun who continued to keep the momentum on he's teams side making sure to remain in control of all of the action. There did come a time when the former NXT Tag team champions attempted to out grapple Gable but they of course came up short with  the former Olympian always one step head forcing the pair to retreat. This was a very mat based, true, pure wrestling match. Almost nothing Blake and Murpthy did phased the rising tag team that is American Alpha. I was actually surprised at just how little offence the former champions got last night. A turning point in this match did come after Murphy hit a fantastic clothesline nearly knocking the head off of Gable. From that moment onwards Blake and Murpthy were able to pick up some degree of control of the match up, isolating Gable from Jordan and working on he's lower back. However, despite their best efforts to wear Chad down the former Olympian was able to make a quick tag to he's partner. Storming into the match, Gable sent everything in sight up in the air and as we all know what goes up must come back down. Tossing Blake and Murpthy around the ring, Jordan out-muscled he's opponents, working together amazingly well as usual American Alpha were able to keep their momentum going when they scored another victory over Blake and Murpthy. I really enjoyed this match up last night. Blake and Murpthy continue to be one of my favourite tag teams in all of the WWE. They are so well put together and have everything you could ask for in a tag team. They have fantastic chemistry and they did work amazing well together as always. They have been together a little longer than American Alpha and their chemistry is undeniable. But that is not to say that Jordan and Gable are not just as well connected. They are on such a roll at the moment, the fans absolutely love them and they sure as hell are making their way up to becoming the next NXT Tag Team Champions.

Following the controversial ending to last weeks NXT Championship match up between Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn, this week general manager William Regal made the announcement that in two weeks time Zayn and Joe will go one on one once again however this time in a two out of three falls match to finally determine a new number one contender. Regal also announced that a new talent will be making their huge NXT debut next week. I think we all know who that certain person is...

Apollo Crews was in action next when he learnt the lesson that in NXT you have to be prepared to face anyone as new comer Christopher Girard stepped out and into the ring. Girard wasted no time gaining control of this match when he used he's brutal, aggressive style to dominate Crews. Delivering a series of European uppercuts and a vicious neck crank, Girard was very very impressive. He had great agility and faired well against a top NXT talent. Despite Christopher dominating most of this match, spending a great deal of time wearing down the former number one contender to the NXT championship, Crews eventually was able to power out and tackle he's opponent back down to the ground. From that moment onwards Apollo started building momentum slowly leading up to a clean and impressive victory once again. I have read plenty of mixed opinions about Apollo Crews. Some people are like me and love him while others don't really see the hype and aren't really jumping on the Apollo Crews bandwagon. I do think that at the moment there isn't really anything strong for him to get involved in but once we see some of the newer faces coming to the main roster debut than he will find he's place and he will really start impressing everyone even more. He's win last night was an important one as every victory in NXT matters. It only takes one match to impress and you could
easily find yourself looking at an NXT Championship opportunity at some point in the future.

Several weeks back we heard the news that Bull Dempsey had parted ways with NXT, news that did come as a surprise but something I do have plenty to say on. I am planning on writing a whole blog post on this so if that is something you would actually be interested in reading then do let me now in the comments bellow. Now, I was always a fan of Bull. There was always something striking about him and it was clear he was a great talent with loads of potential. The problem was was that the WWE didn't have him going in a strong and promising direction. He's first character didn't have a long term direction and so there was a need to change things up but turning him into a joke and introducing the bull fit idea was just a big mistake in my eyes. I do think that despite leaving the WWE/NXT he has a great career ahead of him. He's young, he has a good look, and he's very talented. I would love to see him in the UK wrestling scene at some point, I really do believe that it would be the perfect place for him and he's style. Back to last night and Bull was in action taking on Tommaso Ciampa. It was a fairly split match. Despite Ciampa dominating a lot of the action Bull's power and size advantage did some into play throughout the match up. Tommaso is a very very impressive superstar and we really did get to see more of he's character last night witch was great to see of course. This was nowhere near a brilliant match but it was a nice filler and the great thing about NXT is every match is booked for a reason.

After Eva Marie and Nia Jax attacked Carmella and the NXT women's Champion moment after their tremendous championship match up a couple of weeks back the four women were set to do battle in a main event tag team match this week on NXT. The match was well promoted over the past couple of weeks and throughout the night last night and I found myself genuinely excited for this match. The usually very exuberant team of Carmella and Bayley came to the ring with their game faces on entering the arena much more subdued than usual, after all a beautiful moment between the two was ruined by Eva and Nia and so the entrance and change in attitude made perfect sense. The match was booked very cleverly. The action started out with Carmella pouncing straight onto the Total Diva star reminding everyone that the brutal beat down was still laying fresh in her mind. Eva however was able to quickly make it to her tag team partner and once Nia was in the match the pace completely changed and the momentum shifted. Nia of course took control of the action using her power and strength to her advantage. Carmella was able to finally make the tag to Bayley after suffering a long beating after Nia was sent flying through the ropes slightly taking her eye off the game for a brief moment. The NXT women's champion went straight after Eva Marie regaining some control of the
match up. There was a moment in this match when it looked as though Carmella was about to make Eva tap and anther where Bayley almost picked up a pin fall victory over Eva, however both were broken up or interrupted by Nia. The closing moments saw Nia hit three leg drops to the chest of Carmella and after Eva tagged herself in was able to pick up a surprising victory. I say that this match was booked so cleverly because it really was. Whenever Eva was in the ring she didn't have much offence or control of the match at all but she did pick up the victory. The WWE know what they are doing with Eva and are becoming very clever with how they use her. I'm not a fan of hers at all. I think its ridiculous how little she has improved and I still think she can't wrestle for shit but it's got to the point where she's so bad that it's good. I can feel myself starting to like her more and more and I can't deny that at all. She looked great standing with Nia and her booking has been really really clever. I personally liked that Bayley and Carmella lost their match last night. They have great chemistry and worked amazingly well together as usual but Eva and Nia really did need that victory. The women's division in NXT is hot as usual and I'm very interested in the direction the WWE are going with it.

I liked last nights show. It wasn't the best but we had a great opening match and a lot of interesting development and announcements. It was great seeing the women main event again. I love how it's becoming the norm for both men and women to main event in NXT.
