Smackdown Review and Reactions

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good. After failing to upload a Smackdown Review and Reactions post last week and the week before due to illness I decided to stay up to watch Smackdown last night and write and upload a review for you this week. I mentioned before that I am trying to make more of an effort to watch Smackdown and writing a review every week will be the one thing that forces me to pay attention and gain more of an interest. I am thinking of doing the same with TNA so if TNA Review and reactions posts are something you would be interested in and would actually read let me know down in the comments bellow. I will soon be brining back my pay per view predictions posts as mentioned in yesterdays NXT Review. I will be writing both NXT Takeover Dallas and Wrestlemania prediction posts as part of Wrestlemania season here on my blog. As always I will link bellow any recent blog posts including this weeks RAW and NXT Review and Reactions posts. And finally you can let me know what you thought of this weeks Smackdown by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

This past Monday on RAW Dean Ambrose was forced by the Authority  to defend he's Intercontinental Championship in a fatal five way against Tyler Breeze, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, and Stardust, the end result saw Kevin Owens come up on top walking out of RAW as the new Intercontinental Champion. You can find out what I thought of that match and the fact we have a new champion in this weeks RAW Review and Reactions post witch will be linked bellow at the end of today's post. Last nights episode of Smackdown kick started with the new champion, Kevin Owens making he's way to commentary preparing to watch from ringside a tag team match between Dolph Ziggler and the Lucha Dragons and League of Nations members Rusev,Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio. As we Learnt last night, this up and coming Sunday at the Fastlane pay per view we will see Kevin Owens defend he's Intercontinental Championship against the man he has been feuding with throughout the past couple of weeks, Dolph Ziggler in what is set to be a fantastic match up and Kalisto will defend the United States Championship against Alberto Del Rip in a two out of three falls match. I liked the booking last night. It made perfect sense (witch makes a change) but I would have preferred to have seen both Kalisto and Alberto Del Rio compete in singles matches of their own to gain momentum before Sunday heading into their match. I don't feel as though another tag team match really benefited either of them as much as a singles match for both of them would have done. Saying that I am really looking forward to their match on Sunday especially now that I know it will be a best of three. Last night was important for Del Rio and Kalisto but it was also important for Dolph Ziggler. It was he who requested an IC championship match against Owens at Fastlane and so it was important for him to walk into the pay per view with some deal of momentum on he's side, a victory over the league of nations is exactly what he needed. So despite not being the worlds biggest Dolph Ziggler fan it was clear that he and Kalisto needed this win much much more than the League of nations. Throughout the match Kevin Owens provided us with some great commentary as usual. He's issues with Cole made hearing commentary very entertaining to say the least. A person Owens highlight moment during the commentary last night was when he compared Dolph Ziggler air guitar to Eva Marie's. Amazing, loved it.Looking at the two teams it was clear that the League of Nations had a much bigger size advantage over the opposing team but it didn't allow them to gain control quickly with the Lucha Dragons kick starting the match dominating using their speed to their advantage allowing them to take control very early on. During the first commercial break there was a clear change in pace of the match as the League of nations were able to turn things around to benefit them. Using their strength and power advantage Sheamus sent Sin Cara into a barricade while Del Rio and Rusev continued to slow down the pace of the match inside of the ring. As the match progressed and Ziggler was tagged in things did slowly start to turn around once again with Ziggler using momentum and adrenaline to gain control for him and he's team. However, the closing moments saw Owens cause a distraction giving Sheamus the perfect opportunity to hit a perfect winning brough kick. I liked the closing moments and how the match was booked overall. I didn't feel as though the wrong decision was made but I would have liked to have seen Kalisto pick up more momentum. But it was another good night for the League of Nations and Kevin Owens and to be fair it was nice seeing Sheamus score the victory.

With a huge divas tag team match set to take place this up and coming Sunday at the Fastlane Pay per view last night saw Sasha Banks go one on one against Tamina as both women looked to pick up one last touch of momentum before their match this weekend. I don't know about you guys reading this but I'm loving this storyline. It's the first time in a long time that I have been so deeply interested and entertained by a main roster divas storyline and this excited for a match from the divsion. The build up has been solid, the storyline makes sense and is easy to get behind, and the matches that have been taking place recently have been strong for all of these women. Saying that lasts nights one on one between Sasha and Tamina was far too short for my liking. I would have loved to have seen these two go at it much much longer than they did. The thing with Sasha is you put her in the ring with anyone and she is going to make sure she is the stand out while also brining out the the best in her opponents and putting on a great match. If these two were given more time last night than they would have been able to put on a great match. What I'm hopeing is on Sunday the tag team match is long enough and all four women get the opportunity to shine steal the show and put on a fantastic match. Despite a not so great start for Sasha last night with Tamina using her size advantage to just that the Boss able to turn things around for herself and gain control, in the end forcing her former team mater to tap out in the middle of the ring meaning Sasha continues to be undefeated on the main roster. After the match Sasha took a beating from Naomi and Tamina and despite Becky coming down to even the numbers and save her partner for Sunday Banks wasn't too pleased about being saved by Lynch leaving worries as to how well the former NXT Divas will be able to work together at Fastlane this weekend.

One of the feuds I have been enjoying the most over the past thew weeks has without a doubt been Chris Jericho VS AJ Styles with the addition of the Miz of course who has found himself as the third wheel of this feud. I have said a thew times here on my blog already so I wont ramble on too much about it but I really am so happy that the Miz had had such involvement in this feud. We all know how talented The Miz is and how underutilised  he has been over the past couple of years or so. It's refreshing seeing him involved in something that is actually interesting, entertaining and allows him to showcase he's skills for once. This past week on RAW AJ Styles requested a one on one match up against Chris Jericho at this Sunday's Fastlane pay per view. Unfortunately Jericho left us all hanging refusing to give an awnser as to whether or not he will accept the Styles' challenge. Last night on Smackdown Jericho was set to give he's response but was soon interrupted by the Miz who had a scheduled one on one with the man himself. With Miz having stronger bookings recently and actually being involved in something really good I was looking forward to this match last night. It did end up being one of my favourites of the night. I was actually surprised at just how much I got into this match. I felt at though they both worked amazingly well together. It was a true back and fourth bout with both superstars struggling to put each other away with near full after near full. The closing moments how ever finally saw Chris Jericho pick up the victory after getting the Miz to tap out. This was the perfect match to prove once and for all why Miz deserves more than what he has been getting over the years. He put on a fantastic fight last night against Jericho and really delivered. I was so so so impressed and so delighted that he was given the opportunity to showcase he's talents to the full. After the match Styles and Jericho were left standing in the middle of the ring as Chris finally addressed the rematch that Styles had offered/requested. The future hall of famer went straight to the point making it clear that while he respected Styles he didn't like him and refused to give him what he wanted answering no to the rematch request.  However, after Styles attacked Jericho he changed he's mind but promised that the AJ would regret requesting this match in the first place.

This up and coming Sunday at the Fastlane pay per view Charlotte will defend her divas championship against Brie Bella and if I'm being honest I'm actually really looking forward to this match up. I'm not the worlds biggest fan of both of these women but the build up has been really picked up over the past couple of weeks and I have surprised myself at how much interest I actually have gained in this storyline and the match. I'm actually expecting quite a bit from Sundays match, I really do think that they could put on a really good match if they are given enough time. Last night Charlotte was out to pick up some momentum as she went one on one with a women she knows very well, Natalya. It doesn't matter how much or how little time these two women have, whenever they step in the ring against one another we are treated to something very special and very entertaining. They always provide us with strong, entertaining matches that leave me wanting so much more. I'm still hopeing that we see these two collide and compete in a strong, full on feud sometime in the near future. It would be a shame for them not to have the opportunity to do so on the main roster. After all we know what they are capable of after their NXT Takeover match. During their match last night Nattie put on a good fight and they clearly had great chemistry but in the end it was Charlotte who picked up the much needed win before heading into Fastlane. After the match Brie Bella came storming down to the ring after watching Charlotte mock her. Leaving the champ chased out of the ring, Brie stood tall in the middle of the ring with the divas championship held high above sending a clear message ahead of Fastlane this Sunday.

Main event time, and after what transpired this past week on RAW Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose found themselves teaming up once again this time to take on the Dudley Boyz. Once again, the booking made perfect sense following what we had seen a thew days back on RAW. While I didn't mind the match and I thought it was a nice different main event and an important one for Reigns and Ambrose I had the same issue with this match as I did the first match of the night. I just would have liked to have seen Reigns in particular compete in a singles match last night.  However, he had a lot of involvement in the tag team match up last night and for the sake of the feels it felt good seeing Ambrose and Reigns working together again and last night they worked better than ever. Ambrose kick started the action but after Bubba smacked Reigns across the face, talking trash and pushing the buttons of the former world champion, Reigns tagged himself in and made Bubba eat he's words. It really was special seeing these two teams work together last night. We have all time favourite tag team, a team destined to be in the hall of fame in the Dudley Boyz and two former member's of the shield. two of the fastest rising and most promising WWE superstars of today in Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns squaring off against one another in what shaped up to be a great tag team match last night. The Dudleys spend a good deal of time in control of this match really taking it to Ambrose who took a big beating throughout this match. The Dudleys really did prove why they are one of the all time greatest last night and proved that they are far from hanging up the boots. There came a point in the match up where Ambrose started favouring he's neck witch became
a target area throughout the rest of the match as they continued to isolate Ambrose from he's tag team partner, Roman Reigns. The more this match went on the more I got into it. It really did shape up to be strong main event tag team match, easy to get into and easy to get excited about. The closing moments were a little predicable. We all knew that Brock Lesnar was in the building and scheduled to make he's first Smackdown appearance in years and Just as Reigns was closing in on the victory the beast's music hit and the atmosphere changed completely! The distraction allowed the Dudleys to fit in a sneak attack but the match was ended in DQ once the brawl began between Reigns and Ambrose and Brock Lesnar as we all got a taste of what is to come this Sunday at Fastlane. It was great seeing Lesnar on Smackdown. It was the final little touch to get everyone excited for Sunday and the Fastlane main event. In those final closing moments of Smackdown we all saw that it was no longer about friendships but Ambrose and Reigns would have to watch that their closeness does't effect their chances with Lesnar taking being the superstar left standing tall. Triple closed the night reminding everyone what these three men were all fighting for.

I thought this was a really good episode of Smackdown. I enjoyed every single match and actually agreed with all the booking decisions made. I'm trying to make more of an effort when it comes to watching Smackdown and knowing I have to write a review every week I'm sure will keep me paying attention.
