7 Doors First Ever Women's Royal Rumble Opened

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had an awesome start to the week so far. Last Weekend the WWE hosted it's two thousand and eighteen addition of the Royal Rumble pay per view and for the first time ever the women were given their first ever Royal Rumble match. Main eventing one of the biggest and most important pay per views of the years the female talent was put center stage and they did not disappoint. From the epic surprise returns of the likes of a Michelle McCool, Molly Holly and Kelly Kelly, to Hall of Fame entrants such as Lita and Trish Stratus all the way to the end result and the debut of Ronda Rousey. The event was huge and a massive step forward in the women's evolution. In today's blog post we are going to be looking at some of the doors this historic match opened for women and women's wrestling. There is plenty we are going to be touching on in today's blog post so get comfy! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow and that does include every single Royal Rumble review I have uploaded over the past week as well as my NXT Takeover: Philadelphia review and reactions post. Finally, you can get involved and tell me what you thought of the women's Royal Rumble match by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria

The Road to Wrestlemania

Throughout the years it's been evident the WWE are keen on getting female talent on the Wrestlemania card regardless of the era. The majority of the time, let's be honest, the matches have sucked with very few standing out as being worthy of even watching. However, in recent years that has changed with the likes of Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch changing the curse of how women are booked for Wrestlemania. This year the first ever Royal Rumble match changed the way the road to Wrestlemania is build for women. We can now see that the biggest wrestling event of the year is in fact an event that is equally as important for the female talent. The Royal Rumble pay per view is the start point on the road to Wrestlemania and has always been the most importnat stop in the build to the biggest show of them all but women were never given that big time match. When they were given it this year it changed things massively in regards to this topic. Thirty women battleing it out to compete at the grandest stage of them all showed just how much they wanted to be apart of Wrestlemania and while that meaning may have gotten lost in the fact this was a historic match we have to remember what the match was for and what these women were competing for outside of making history. What this also means is that everything else that comes with the road to Wrestlemania is just as key and important for the women's divison. It allows those big pay per views like Elimination Chamber and the title matches inbetween to mean just as much.

The Elimination  Chamber

And just like that we transion into my next point. Last Monday it was announced by Stephanie McMahon that the first ever women's Elimination Chamber match will take place this year. I've touched on this before but this is a match I expected to be booked last year and so it never surprised me that this match was being given to the women's divison this year. The annoucement came less than twenty four hours after the women's Rumble and while the reaction could of and should have been a lot stronger I know I'm personally so excited for this match! Now, of course this probably wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the Rumble match and with the annoucement coming the very next day it just goes to show how quickly this evolution is now moving. It's not about wasting time anymore. Women have main evented, they've been inside Hell in a Cell, they've competed in a Money in the Bank ladder match, there is no reason why they should not be given an Elimination Chamber match. This is a very barbaric structure, an intense and very physical kind of match up and while I know so many will have their doubts I'm excited to see what the women competing put on and how they perform in yet another historic match.

Legends vs Current Talent

The Royal Rumble match saw some epic returns for the women's divison. While none of the women competing have announced they are returning to full time in ring work the Rumble sure did get fans excited about the prosepect of some legends facing off against current talent. Sasha Banks who quite clearly was the women of this match had several little showdowns including with the winner of the Rumble, Asuka, but it was her breife encounter with Trish Stratus that really grabbed my attention. The thought of those two women competing in a match up in a twenty mineut space blows my mind. We one of the best of all time vs one of the very best of today and with what we know they can both do in the ring this could easily become one of the greatest rivarlies and matches we have ever seen. Now, every single women that took part in this ruumble was in incredible shape and looked as though they could easily wrestle another one on one match. If it was ever on the cards Trish vs Sasha or Becky Lynch vs Lita or Molly Holly vs Nikki Cross for example would all make for matches I would pay to see. Looking at the condition some of these women are in it doesn't seem like an impossible factor and it's something we can at least dream about for now and maybe one day it could just become a reality!

Bella Twins Takeover

Even though not many of us would like to admit it, the Bella Twins have been an important part in the women's evolution. They may not be as strong in the ring as the likes of Sasha Banks and Charlotte but they bring in a following stronger than a lot fo the women currently on the roster and the reaction from the live crowd at the Rumble pay per view when both women enterted speaks volumes. The two had a strong performance on the night and unsurpringly became two of the main attractions. The pair told a great little story in a short space of time from working together, to Nikki eleiminating Brie to Nikki coming down to the final two. While so many have so much negativity aimed at these two they were a big part of this match and the journey the women's division has been on and I know I personally really enjoyed watching them in the ring together and I would love to see them back again even if it's just for a little bit. They have a huge following, their return and the reaction they got spoke volumes. There's a place for them on the roster and particulary the blue brand could really benefit from their presense for a little while.

Women Main Eventing more PPV's and... Wrestlemania

Throughout the past few years we've seen women given more opportunites to main event shows from RAW and Smackdown LIVE to the likes of Hell in a Cella and NXT Takeover: Respect and last weekend the entire divison were given the main event spot when the competed in the first ever women's Royal Rumble match. The girls of divison did a fantastic job here and proved yet again they deserve that spot to close a show. The fans in attendance and everyone at home were fully invested in the match and that is what matters. The WWE universe were entertained and thats the whole point of the WWE and so why not give these women more main event spots. It doesn't have to be every single week or every other show but when you have a feud that is gripping fans and there is such a strong demand for a certain match then why not give it the main event spot. In terms of women main eventing Wrestlemania that is still something that is going to take some time. Are we getting there? A hundred percent but there is a lot a more work to do. The introduction of Ronda Rousey does increase the chances. I know I for sure would be okay with Asuka vs Ronda Rousey or Charlotte vs Ronda Rousey main eventing Wrestlemania at some point!

4 hoursewomen vs 4 Horsewomen

Now, this one is one I'm  not going to be focusing on too much because I have already written so much on this topic before and I don't want to bore you all but with Ronda Rousey making her WWE debut and having her first face to face contact with Charlotte for WWE TV things have gotten really interesting. Rousey does introduce something new to the WWE that's very exciting but before she could even get to the WWE people were talking of the four horsewomen vs the four horsewomen with the women coming face to face for the first time last summer during the Mae Young Classic. We are now in postion were two of the four horsewomen of MMA are in the WWE and while this is a match some fans won't have an interested in personally it remains something I'm high on and now is where the seeds have been planted properly!

A new Era

The womens evolution is something that has been active for a few years now. With the women of NXT changing the game and sparking the revolution things have grown from stentgh to strentgh and this is a very very exciting time to be a women in this industry. Every month we are seeing women given more opportunites from the basic things like longer matches to those massive historic moments and first evers. The Royal Rumble was yet another big opportunity for women to show they are taking over and twenty eighteen is quite clearly becoming the year of the woman. There are so many things to look forward to in the future thanks to what we saw last Sunday. Characters were revivied,
the likes of Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch were given the spotlight they needed and with sparks of that heel persona from Banks things are looking up for her in particular. We also have so many unanswered questions following the ending of the pay per view that have kept fans hooked and then of course we have Ronda Rousey who wile controversial amongst wrestling fans has changed the game. Shes put a massively strong focus on the division that wasn't there before and while her Mania plans are still something with a question mark to it she opens so many doors alone for the division and things are only looking more and more exciting and even stronger for women's wrestling in the WWE and as a whole.

And there we have it!
