John Cena vs The Rock

There is no denying that The Rock and John Cena are two iconic WWE superstars. Two of the most popular, entertaining, and talented in-ring performers the pair have been leading faces in the world of World Wrestling Entertainment and so when the two collided and went one on one at Wrestlemania twenty-eight back in two thousand and twelve everyone was excited. I've never been the worlds biggest John Cena fan but five years old me did use to go to school and tell everyone the Rock was her dad so... Yeah, I was definitely excited for this match! After the Rock cost Cena the WWE championship at the previous Wrestlemania Cena challenged him to a match which they both agreed should have happened at the grandest stage of them all. As fans waited an entire year for this must-see match the anticipation was high and the two stars did not disappoint when the match rolled around twelve months later. The fans in attendance took time to appreciate the match and what was about to happens and after acknowledging the fans cheers the two stars locked up in a test of strength. The moments that followed would consist of intense, entertaining, and totally gripping action and the match itself would be highlighted as one of the ages, a true classic. The Closing moments saw Cena decide to beat the Rock with his own move changing things up just a little but things did not go to plan and the great one popped up and delivered a rock bottom getting the three count and of course the victory. A classic match between two WWE icons that will forever be spoken about.

The Shield vs The Wyatt Family

In two thousand and twelve, the Shield made their WWE main roster debut was fans were introduced to Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and former NXT Champion Seth Rollins. The trio would go on to make one heck of an impact and would eventually be highlighted as one of the best factions in WWE history dominating the roster. In the summer of two thousand and thirteen The Wyatt Family would make their debut for the WWE and would cause just as much chaos for the superstars of RAW and Smackdown and it was made clear that eventually, these two teams would collide. After the Wyatt's costs, all three Shield members a spot in the Elimination Chamber match the six men collided at that very pay per view in what was an epic contest. Before the match even kick-started the arena was full of "this is awesome" chants as this was clearly set to be a match for the ages and ones fans anticipated greatly! The six men stared at each other with no one making the first move until Ambrose went for Wyatt and the action begun! Throughout the entire match, fans were split down the middle with both "Let's go Wyatts!" and "Let's go, Shield!" chants echoing through the arena and the action had everyone up on their feet. Frequent tags, time split between who was in control of the match and every single superstar having their moment made for an epic match up. Rollins and Harper were two major standouts with Harper wowing fans with his in-ring capabilities that didn't seem to match his size and Rollins offense entertaining everyone. This was a battle between two of the best teams in the WWE at this time and possible all-time greats. The Wyatts picked up the win but both these teams proved to be phenomenal and neither felt like a real loser.

Shawn Michales vs The Undertaker (Wrestlemania 25)

Wrestlemania twenty-five was a huge event jam-packed full of solid matches, strong storylines and moments that will go down in WWE history. One of the biggest moments of the night was, of course, the one on one matchup between Shawn Michales and The Undertaker. As always Taker had his undefeated Wrestlemania streak on the line and it was fitting that for Wrestlemania twenty-five it was fitting that Mr. Wrestlemania himself faced off against the dead mean. Having to defeat both JBL and Vladimir Kozlov in order to earn the Mania match Michales walked into this match more focused than ever before and the mind games that followed in the weeks building up to this huge match go down as historic moments also. The match itself has gone down as many fans all-time favorite match or at least in the list and I have to say it most certainly is up there in my top ten maybe even top five WWE matches of all time. The entrances alone had me completely captivated but this told a perfect story that simply worked. We once again had two iconic WWE superstars, two future hall of Famers, two leading faces and they did not disappoint. This one for the ages, another classic contest that showed Michales and Taker to be two of the best in the world. The mind games, the intensity, and the star quality all add to why this is such a majorly iconic match in WWE and pro wrestling history.

John Cena vs AJ Styles (Royal Rumble 2017)

Over the past couple of years, AJ Styles and John Cena have collided in a number of must-see matches and so deciding which one to put into this list was not an easy task but in the end, I just had to go with their Royal Rumble clash from last year. It was my personal favorite and has made the list for many other fans faves. The story was kept more simple than their previous but the chemistry between them was fantastic and the story that was being told was just brilliant especially considering the history between them. This was a matchup that had everything. The story was strong, there was history between the two stars, the chemistry was brilliant, and of course, the wrestling was on another level. The back and forth action were simply fantastic as two icons of the WWE today went head to head in a classic collision. Topping their previous bouts these guys raised the bar proving why they really are two of the best of the best. It was the night Cena made history becoming a sixteen-time world champion but it was also the night Styles once again showed the world why he really is phenomenal. Their styles complimented each other and with the crowd more split than ever I'm pretty sure this is a match that everyone will be talking about for years to come, a true classic.

Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Up next we have one of the more recent matches featuring in this blog post today as we go back to two thousand and sixteen as Shinsuke Nakamura made his WWE NXT debut when he faced off against NXT legend, Sami Zayn. This right here is modern-day wrestling at its best. I remember being so excited for Nakamura's debut. I've never been the most loyal viewer of New Japan but I was aware of Shinsuke and seen his work before and was so pumped to see him arrive in the world of WWE and what better opponent than Sami Zayn! Here we have two leading faces in pro wrestling today, two of the best and two men leading this new era. Both extremely talented I sat back and allowed myself to enjoy some wrestling magic. From the very beginning right through to the end I was genuinely hooked on my screen to the point where I didn't pay any attention to social media, no live tweeting nothing, I was focused on this match and left on the edge of my seat. The action was so damn good the arena was full of "fight forever" chants and it was clear this was set to be the WWE match of the year! This was the perfect introduction to Shinsuke Nakamura and the perfect farewell to Sami Zayn as the torch was passed on and we were assured that NXT was in safe hands as Zayn moved over to the main roster.

John Cena vs CM Punk

I'm gonna say it... John Cena vs CM Punk at Money in the Bank two thousand and elven may be my all time favorite WWE match or at least in the top five! This was storytelling at it's best and the wrestling was pure magic. Everything you could want in a match was right here hence the reason The Summer of twenty elven saw CM Punk expose the drama's that took place behind the scenes of the WWE and one of my all-time favorite storylines was created. With his contract set to end the night of Money in the bank, he was planning on leaving the WWE however after he'd earned an opportunity at the WWE Championship against Cena in Punk's hometown of Chicago things got very interesting. And after that infamous pipebomb, Cena insisted Punk be reinstated and the two had their match with money in the bank but Punk claimed that he would not resign and would take the WWE championship with him after winning the match. The night of the match was sure one to remember. The live crowd in attendance were more vocal than ever before with the majority siding with their hometown boy CM Punk and the roar of the crowd as Punks music hit is a sure goosebumps moment. The back and forth action had everyone on the edge of their seats and this was yet another night Punk proved he really was a top talent in the WWE worthy of this championship match and the best the company had to offer. With so much on the line McMahon did all he could to keep the title on Cena ensuring the championship would stay with the WWE including calling Alberto Del Rio to come out and cash in his opportunity at the title but before Del Rio could Punk nailed him with a kick to the head and walked out the champ leaving the WWE (for a short while) with the WWE championship in hands and an iconic goodbye to Vince McMahon.

And there we have it! That is the end of this post and mini series! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked below including my WWE Superstar and WWE match of the year twenty seventeen!
