Five Stars the Cruiserweight Division Needs

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had an awesome week so far! Now, if you are a regular reader here on my blog you will know that usually every Wednesday I upload my RAW and Smackdown LIVE Highlights of the week. It's the time I take out to look back at the past couple of days in all things WWE and discuss some of the biggest talking points from the week's episodes of WWE's biggest weekly shows. However, I have actually found that I'm growing a little tired of writing the same blog post every single week and I began to question whether or not you guys would actually prefer to see something different here. So, for this week I'm going to be doing something a little different and instead focusing on the cruiserweight division. I do actually have a big post coming up talking about the division and 205Live as a show which I'm really proud of so keep an eye out for that fairly soon! After paying more attention to 205Live and making it my mission to tune into the show more I found that actually there are a few matches I've gotten into and really enjoyed but there is still plenty to do in order for the show to work and the Cruiserweight division and in today's blog post we are going to be focusing on one of the biggest issues, star quality. I'm going to be listing five stars 205 and the cruiserweight division needs! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow! And finally, you can get involved and tell me who you would like to see joining the cruiserweight division by leaving a comment bellow also or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

Roderick Strong

I'm going to be kick-starting today's blog post off with the man that actually inspired me to write this post in the first place, current NXT star, Roderick Strong. Now, there is currently a big spotlight on Strong with the former ROH talent chasing after every title in sight. Not only did he recently score a victory over Tyler Bate edging closer to a shot at the UK Championship but just last night we saw him pick up another big victory over on 205 LIVE where he moved on to the next part of the tournament and again edging closer to becoming champion, this time the Cruiserweight championship was in his sights. Now, I've said before that I'm not the worlds biggest Roderick Strong fan but there is no denying that his ability to deliver killer matches is crazy! We've seen him apart of some fantastic matches down in NXT already with his rather short time with the company and it's exciting! His match last night was yet another to add to the growing list and it what that match also did was put a brighter spotlight on Strong. This is a man the Cruiserweight division could seriously benefit from. Not only is he a fantastic in-ring worker but his popularity and NXT background ensure he is bringing star quality to the division which of course is exactly what it needs.  He's the type of likable character we as fans can get behind, full of heart and passion he gives off Daniel Bryan/Sami Zayn vibes and it's something like that we are missing in the division.

Richocet

You knew it was coming. Recently announced as one of the latest NXT signees, Richocet is the hottest thing in pro wrestling today and now apart of the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, things have gotten very exciting. Now, I like the idea of Richocet being apart of NXT. He's the type of talent the roster could really benefit from and I would pay to see a storyline/feud between the former Lucha Underground star and also recently signed star EC3 amongst many other names However, you can't help but touch on the fact that he would make for a brilliant addition to the 205 LIVE show and division. Okay, so there is of course the argument that he deserves way better but that in itself highlights the problem. We should want to see these guys apart of the division. In an up and coming post, I do talk about five steps the WWE should make in improving the division so this will make more sense but can we really argue that Richocet would make the perfect addition to the cruiserweight division. His speed, crazy athleticism, popularity, and experience all contribute to this very point. Just imagine a twenty-five-minute matchup between the man himself and Cedric Alexander... magic! Of course, it's the booking and how these guys are used that matters more so than the stars but once you give fans a reason to tune in, give us talent we know, care about and are hot right now and believe me more people are going to tune in. Richocet is a huge attraction and a name that could single handily save this division.

Marty Scrull

Up next we have one of not many names featuring on this list today that actually signed a contract with the WWE and that name is Marty Scrull. I've written about Marty plenty of times before and so I'm confident that many of you probably expected him to feature in today's blog post but come on... he just had to. One of the biggest indie stars on the scene today Marty is paving the way and killing it everywhere he goes. Whether it be in the US, Japan, or his homeland of the United Kingdom, everyone knows the name Marty Scrull. The villain has become one of the most interesting characters in pro wrestling today grabbing the attention of fans worldwide. Achieving so much there is no doubt in my mind that sooner or later the WWE are going to get their hands on Marty and when they do the Cruiserweight division is where I personally would place him eventually. After a lengthy NXT run the cruiserweight division is the place Marty would be able to bring his skills to but also bring a large following with. The one thing this division is seriously missing out on is character. No one is truly standing out as the main attraction because of the lack of character, Marty brings all the charisma and more to the table. When you add his character work to what he does in the ring, Scrull makes for the perfect 205 LIVE roster member.

Johnny Gargano

One man, I have been totally obsessed with over the past few years has to be Johnny Gargano. This is a man that keeps on delivering over and over again. From his tag team work with Tommaso Ciampa to the five star rated match up against Andrade Cien Almas at last months NXT Takeover event Gargano has given us every reason to be obsessed with him! Everything he does is pure magic and that is the type of star quality not only do I want to see over on 205LIVE but its what the division needs! His the babyface we are all firmly behind, we know that he can work the best of the best kind of matches and his ability to work and tell a gripping and emotional storyline is there. He is the type of star the cruiserweight's needs. He brings passion, fire, energy, a huge fan following and the knowledge that whether it be five minutes or twenty-five minutes he is going to be killing it in these matches!

Rey Mysterio

And finally, you guys knew I was going to have to feature him today... the one and only, the true king of the cruiserweights, Rey Mysterio. Making a one-off return to the WWE last month during the Royal Rumble Rey sparked huge conversations in terms of a full-time return and since it has been rumored that could now possibly on the cards for the near future. If he is set to return there are only two places I would be happy seeing him, either over on Smackdown LIVE or apart of the Cruiserweight division. His the veteran this show is crying out for! He is the true star this division needs! The attention he will bring to the show is exactly what the WWE has been trying to get from day one. You surprise fans with his full-time return at Wrestlemania just like they did with Matt and Jeff Hardy last year and add him to the Cruiserweight match there I'm telling you things will change massively very quickly! He is a huge big time star full of experience and a following that left him with five million reviews upon his return at the Rumble just a couple of weeks ago.

And there we have it! That is my list. I'm sure some of you may have expected more Indie stars but I am doing a separate version of this post so keep an eye out for that also!  As always, any recent blog posts will be linked bellow! And finally, you can get involved and tell me who you would like to see joining the cruiserweight division by leaving a comment bellow also or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.
