WWE News

The Debut of Ronda Rousey

We just have to kick start today's blog post with the most talked about topic of the week, the WWE debut of Ronda Rousey. With pretty much everyone and their mum predicting Ronda would make an appearance at the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match last Sunday it wasn't the worlds biggest surprise when she did exactly that, however, instead of entertaining the Rumble, the former MMA star left fans and superstars with questions left right and center. Closing the show, Rousey came down to the ring making one thing clear, she was heading to Wrestlemania and with three of the most powerful women in the WWE standing in the ring in Charlotte, Asuka, and Alexa Bliss along with Stephanie McMahon at ringside this became one of the most interesting and exciting moments of the night and the month. Despite missing the first RAW and Smackdown LIVE after the Rumble pay per view it has been noted that Rousey has signed a full-time contract with the company and rumors are already surfacing as to what her role will be at Mania. Many believe a mixed tag team match is on the cards but in all honesty I do feel there is far more money and interest in Rousey vs Charlotte, however, regardless of what the Mania plans are for Ronda she has shaken the division up massively and the coming months are going to be very interesting with her on the scene. Rousey is still currently filming but once done I assume she will be making her first appearance on either RAW or Smackdown LIVE or both shows for that matter.

Hall of Fame 2018

This week more names have been added and rumored to be joining the Hall of Fame class if twenty eighteen. Over on RAW, it was announced that one of my personal favorite tag teams of all time, the Dudley Boyz are the latest inductees. Not surprised in the slightest, I grew up watching and admiring these guys like crazy. So many legendary matches I'm forever going back and re-watching these guys more than deserve their spot in the Hall of Fame. It has also been rumored that Mark Henry will be joining the class this year.

Rey Mysterio Not Sticking around & Royal Rumble Fall out

While Ronda Rousey may have been the biggest talking point coming out of the Royal Rumble pay per view the biggest draw of the night was, in fact, Rey Mysterio. With his Rumble entrance having more YouTube views than Rousey's debut everyone has been wondering whether or not the former World Heavyweight Champion will be sticking around however it is now public knowledge that he, in fact, won't be, for now. It's been said that Mysterio was booked as a one-off appearance and has not signed a new contract with the WWE. I do personally believe that Mysterio will be back in the WWE one day within the next couple of years or so but right now just isn't the time with demands across the British scene and US scene outside the WWE. His appearance on the night of the Rumble was huge and widely appreciated by fans and while no full-time return is on the cards at the moment it was an awesome moment seeing him back inside a WWE ring and looking damn good!

We also learned this week that for the first time ever the women of Monday night RAW will compete in the first-ever Women's Elimination Chamber later this month. No word on who will be competing just yet but what we do know is that Alexa Bliss will be defending the title inside the chamber. Elias Samson, John Cena, and Braun Strowman have also been announced as the first three men entering the men's elimination chamber.

Outside the WWE

Jeremy Borash Signs with WWE

Okay, so while this chunk of the blog post does talk a lot about the WWE the focus remains on new stars and this week it was shockingly announced that former TNA personality Jeremy Borash has signed with the WWE. Out of all the rumored Impact stars heading to the WWE, this was a name I was not expecting to pop up at all. After being with Impact wrestling since two thousand and two I was surprised to hear that Jeremy looks to be joining the NXT brand very soon. While a big surprise it's a very exciting move and I have to see I'm pretty pumped. Amazing in his role, Borash is sure to bring an interesting and fun touch to the WWE and adding him to the NXT family is an even stronger and exciting move. This is still a growing story as I write this so I will be keeping you guys posted and commenting on everything over on twitter. Keeping on the theme of Impact Wrestling, and this week also saw Austin Aries return to TNA/

Rockstar Spud announced as First ever 205LIVE GM

For the first time since it first aired, I actually tuned into this weeks episode of 205Live (yeah, I know I suck at watching this show!) after it was announced the week before that a general manager was going to be announced for the brand. As soon as the show opened Daniel Bryan came out to address the fans and introduce the new and first ever 205LIVE general manager in Drake Maverick otherwise known as RockStar Spud. This didn't come as a surprise what so ever after weeks of rumors suggesting Spud would be joining the WWE. As someone that has followed his career for such a long time I'm so so glad, happy, and proud to see Maverick working for the WWE however, can he save the cruiserweight division? I highly doubt it but he does make for an interesting and fun addition and with him apart of 205 LIVE I can honestly say that I do have more of an interest in watching the product. A tournament has been announced to determine the new Cruiserweight champion and the finals of that tournament will take place at Wrestlemania!

Another TNA star signs with the WWE

And finally, last Saturday during the NXT Takeover: Philadelphia show it was revealed that EC3 had
signed an NXT contract and once again apart of the WWE. Once again, this didn't really surprise me considering the rumors that had been surfacing back from December but I was super happy to see him in the crowd on Saturday and I cannot wait to see him have what is sure to be a far far better run with the company. Ninja Warrior star Kacy Catanzaro has also signed an NXT contract.
