Last Week in Wrestling

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had a brilliant start to the week so far. Okay, so this week we are going to be shaking things up a little here. Most of you will know that usually, on Monday I uploading my Last Week in Wrestling, however, with the twenty eighteen Fastlane pay per view taking place this past Sunday yesterday I uploaded my first in the two-part review of that show. I don't normally upload a last week in Wrestling post on the same week as a pay per view review goes up but considering so much happened last week and with the road to Wrestlemania being so crazy recently I thought it would be fun to write and upload one anyway and see what you guys think about everything that has gone down this past week in the crazy crazy world of professional wrestling. Throughout the week I will also be taking a look at promotions outside the WWE with a special look at the young British talent as well another Fastlane Review! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked below including my Elimination Chamber review and reactions posts from earlier on in the month. Finally, you can get involved and tell me what you thought about this past week in pro wrestling by leaving a comment below or by dropping me a tweet over at @TezangiVictoria.

Injury Updates and Released Superstars

It's been a few months now since we last saw Jeff Hardy on our screens and competing inside a WWE ring. Following an injury, Hardy was forced to undergo surgery and was set to miss out several months of action. This week it was revealed that Hardy has been given the all clear from Doctors and awaits to get the same news from the WWE. Whether or not he will be back in time for Mania is still something we await the news of. We are so so close to Wrestlemania and finding a spot for him on the card that works may not be as an easy of a task as we hope. Now, while I would love to see Jeff compete at Mania this year it simply may just be a case of the best booking option taking place on the night after. If the WWE is really interested in getting him on the card in April then we do also have the Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal. Okay, so it may seem like a far cry away from what he should be doing and it is. Jeff deserves to be competing in a killer match on the grandest stage of them all, however, with reports suggesting the WWE want to make a bigger deal of the battle royal, throwing in a name and potential winner like Jeff Hardy into the Mix will hopefully do just that. (It has also been reported that Hardy was recently arrested but I will have more on this in next Monday's eddition of Last week in wrestling)

One of the bigger talking points across wrestling news sources over the last few weeks has revolved around NXT costing and this week we began seeing the effects of this issue. With the WWE breaking the news that they have released Mae Young Classic competitors Abbie Laith and Sage Beckett fans are expecting more realses to come over the next few weeks and this will be a topic I talk about more! I am sad to see both these women let go. Abbi is an extremely talented woman with plenty to offer the division and it's a huge shame the WWE never took the risk with her they should of. As for Sage Beckett, she too had potential and I believe there well and truly could have been a spot for her on the roster.

NXT Introduces New Championship

For anyone that prefers to avoid NXT spoilers, I suggest you skip this part of the post! Okay, so this week I woke up to the spoilers of a very very exciting up and coming episode of NXT. The Star ridden show saw general manager William Regal announce that NXT will be introducing a new championship. At NXT Takeover: New Orleans we will see the NXT North America Championship debut at six of the brightest stars on the roster will compete in a ladder match to determine the enogral champion. The Velveteen Dream, Adam Cole, Killian Dane, Lars Sullivan as well as NXT newcomers EC3 and Ricochet will take part in what is sure to be an epic matchup over Wrestlemania weekend. I am predicting this to be one of the best matches of the entire year but you can check out who I'm backing and my full predictions in my prediction post in the coming weeks!

Possible WWE Star Returning?

This has actually been one of the topics I have been focusing on a lot this week! Now, I have my personal opinions on Alberto Del Rio as I have previously touched on in other blog posts but that's not what I'm going to be getting into today. What we are going to be touching on is the news that the former World Champion may be about to make a return to the WWE. The news does come as a surprise and it's something I have mixed feelings on considering his history with the company. However, there is no denying that Alberto, the in-ring performer is damn good at his job but if he is set to make a return to the company will a third time round prove to be a success or will history repeat itself?

Other News

As you would have seen, yesterday I did upload part one of my Fastlane review with part two and three set to go up later this week! The show, in my opinion, was well worth the watch. The main event has gone down as one of my personal favourite WWE pay per view matches so far not to mention the opening and women's championship match made for other standouts. It's also worth noting that the show did a fantastic job in creating the next step in the build to Wrestlemania with the blue brand looking to add brand new twists and turns with so much more still to come. The Fastlane pay per view consisted of big memorable and historic moments including Asuka revealing she will be facing Charlotte at Wrestlemania for the Smackdown LIVE women's championship as well as Randy Orton becoming a grand slam champion defeating Bobby Roode to finally win the United States championship.
Other news from last week in the world of pro wrestling consisted of Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle vs Stephanie McMahon and Triple H becoming an official match for the Wrestlemania thirty-four card as well as the news that the Miz will defend his IC title in a triple threat against Finn Balor and Seth Rollins. Rich Swann is also set to retire from in-ring action.

And that was last week in wrestling! I will be uploading my recent addition of this post on Monday so keep an eye out for that! For now, however, any recent blog posts will be linked below and you can tell me what you thought of last week in wrestling by leaving a comment below or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.
