Last Week in Wrestling

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good and have had a great weekend ready to start a fresh new week. Okay, so of course every Monday we take a look back at the past seven days in the world of pro wrestling and this week is no different! We had a lot going down last week from Ultimate Deletion to more Wrestlemania updates to of course Daniel Bryan's big news that he has been cleared to wrestle! With so much going on this past week we have plenty to get through today and I'm super excited to get writing. Now, I know the past few posts like this have been very WWE focused and it's probably gonna be the same this week simply because I've been so busy and haven't had the time to properly take a look at everything but I promise that I'll be getting back on track after Wrestlemania! This week I will also be taking a look at pre posting for Wrestlemania week which will start very very soon! So if you have any ideas as to what content you would like to see do let me know! As always, any recent blog posts will be linked below including last weeks RAW and Smackdown LIVE highlights and finally, you can get involved and tell me what you thought of last week in wrestling by leaving a comment below or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.

Biggest Story of the Week

Okay, so there is no denying that the biggest Wrestling story of the week was, of course, the news that Daniel Bryan has been cleared to wrestle. It's the news that has all been waiting for and even talking about it here right now gives me goosebumps. The news broke earlier in the week ahead of Smackdown LIVE where the show kick-started with Bryan in the ring talking about the past couple of years and his journey back to the ring touching on the fact he believed at one point that returning to the ring may not ever happen. The promo was extremely personal and touching and as I watched I can honestly say I had a tear in my eye. Bryan is such a beloved star in the world of pro wrestling and this news has got everyone excited. I've already uploaded part one of a post that lists current superstars I would like to see Bryan face and part two of that post will be up later this week! As I'm writing this, the plans for Bryan and Wrestlemania may not be completely clear but things are very exciting and this is going to be something we touch on in weeks to come heading into Wrestlemania and this weeks episode of Smackdown LIVE should be very interesting and a revealing step forward.

Ronda Rousey's dark segment and RAW Highlight

My personal favorite moment this week in wrestling was the Ultimate Deletion. I know it was very hit or miss and you either loved it or hated it just like the first one but I honestly can say I was fully entertained from start to finish. The full review of that match will be linked below so you can go and check that out but in that post, I did mention that a part of me enjoyed this one more than the first. I felt as though there was a lot of intensity, Wyatt had the performance that not only he needed but showed exactly what he should be doing but what the match itself did was introduce the woken gimmick properly from brother Nero to Reby and opened up a brand new chapter in Matt's role and character.

On the same episode of RAW Ronda Rousey made another appearance, however, it was not televised. Instead, the segment was put up on YouTube later after the show and to be fair it wasn't something that needed to be shown on TV anyway but I'm glad it did happen and was put out for everyone to see. Confronted by Dana Broke, Ronda had her first one on one contact with members of the RAW women's division (not including Stephanie) and it was very revealing. I did find the whole thing pretty awkward and it did once again show very clearly Rousey's lack of experience. Dana did help Rousey a lot but we did still need to remember that this is a new world and these small segments whether they are televised or not are really important and it did help in making her look like the bad ass the WWE want to show her as however, they do need to turn it up a lot more in the coming week or so!

Return and Wrestlemania Update

A quick section next. As you know, every week I am providing little updates in regards to returns and this week we have some news on Big Cass who has been cleared for in-ring return. It has been hinted as to when he will return and what the plans will be ahead of his return but hopefully, the WWE has some fitting waiting for him and a fresh start can begin for a superstar who carries a lot of potential!

This week we also learned that Randy Orton will defend his United States Championship in a triple threat against Bobby Roode and Jinder Mahal in a triple threat at Wrestlemania and Lillian Garcia will announce the Women's Battle Royal.

The Greatest Royal Rumble

One of the main big talking points this week and some news that has been updated pretty much on a daily basis revolves around the Greatest Royal Rumble. A special set to take place in Saudi Arabia, the show will not only air on the WWE Network but it has been announced that it is also set to air on Sky Sports Box Office. The event will take place on the twenty-seventh of April with seven title matches added to the card including appearances from the likes of John Cena, AJ Styles, the Undertaker, Triple H, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns and many many more. This week we also learned that Jerry the King Lawler and Jim Ross will work as the announce team for the show too and so far this is looking to be a big time must see!

And that was last week in wrestling! I touched on the fact that I enjoyed both episodes of RAW and Smackdown LIVE this week and I'm super excited for the week ahead with both shows having a lot to live up to!
