Women’s Money in The Bank Ladder Match 2018 Predictions

Last year, of course, saw history made when the female talent of Smackdown LIVE competed in the first-ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match; this up and coming Sunday eight women from both RAW and Smackdown LIVE will take part in only the second women’s Ladder match at this pay per view and what a line up we have. Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Lana, Sasha Banks, Ember Moon, Charlotte Flair, Natalya, and Becky Lynch all look to walk out of Sundays pay per view Miss MITB twenty eighteen and edge one step closer to a shot at a women’s championship bout but exactly who will do so? Which of these eight women is most in need and deserving of this win? What feuds will we see make a return in this special match up? And what stories will we be left with following this huge, must-see event?

The Underdogs

I first want to look at two underdogs that standout in this year's Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match who happen to have worked together greatly during the build-up to this very match! Lana and Naomi are two women who are sure to bring something very different to the table to one another this up and coming weekend. On the one hand, we have former Smackdown LIVE Women’s champion Naomi who happened to be defending that very championship only twelve months ago at this exact pay per view against Lana; fast forward one year and Naomi is looking to get her hands on the Smackdown LIVE Women’s championship but can she do it? Can Naomi walk out of Sundays show the new Miss Money in the Bank? In all honesty, I don’t believe she is a favorite for the win this year. There are plenty of stories that await Naomi without the briefcase and while she’s someone that will benefit from the win for sure there are women competing in this match that arguably need it more and of course have a stronger argument for doing so. This Sunday however, Naomi is sure to be a standout. This ladder match is jam-packed full of athletic women but it’s a collision with Ember Moon I look forward to seeing as well as just how far Naomi will be able to showcase her athleticism using the assistance of the ladders provided! She, of course, still underdog in this match and to be fair I wouldn’t be surprised to see her get the win.

We then, of course, have Lana who fits into the underdog bracket simply because of her lack of experience. Lana standouts for the sheer fact she is the least experienced, the least skilled in terms of wrestling ability and not quite as athletic as the likes of Naomi and Charlotte Flair for example. However, in saying that it’s important to also note that she remains a fan favorite for many who believe she could walk out Miss Money in the Bank. We’ve seen much more of Lana in recent months with the WWE finally showing signs of being interested in pushing the Rusev Day idea further. Lana has been given Lana Day merch and the crowd reactions she has been picking up week in and week out speak volumes. While she isn’t the strongest competitor in this match she’s one of the most logical picks. A Mr. and Mrs. Money in the Bank would be a new and interesting and probably very entertaining idea and there are no two people who could quite make this work as well as Lana and Rusev!

Embers Chance to Standout!

It was the night after Wrestlemania that we saw former NXT Women's champion Ember Moon debut for Monday night RAW and since that night Moon has shown to be one to watch in the near future. She's had several notable victories and standout moments during matches and of course the build to this pay per view, however, we haven't gotten a fraction of what Ember can actually do and the Money in the Bank ladder match is a big night for the former champion and a brilliant platform for her to really show the bigger audience what she is capable of. It's this kind of match were Moon can showcase her athleticism to new heights, use the ladders to her advantage and fit in some brilliant offense and spots that really get the crowd going. An eclipse from the top of a ladder is a must this weekend but its collisions with the likes of Charlotte Flair and Naomi that I also look forward to seeing! In terms of winning, I don't believe Moon is someone who needs this victory. It's far too soon for such a big win and I personally would rather see her build momentum, develop her character more and win the fans over more before she is given such a victory; not to mention I'm confident that within the next twelve months Moon will get a title shot regardless.

It's Somone Else Time

There is no denying that Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are two of the best female superstars/all round WWE stars on the roster today and are a huge part of the women's division, however, they have been at the top since they both arrived on the main roster. This includes big-time matches, Mania title bouts, and several championship reigns that have left them as the women to beat at the top of the ladder (excuse the pun). Now, I strongly believe that both Bliss and Charlotte will be standouts in this weekends ladder match with Charlotte sure to hit a moonsault from the top of the ladder and Bliss a twisted Bliss from the same spot both of which will have the crowd loud and up on their feet but in terms of the win I strongly do not want to see either of these women walk out Miss Money in the bank. Neither are in need of the win and the opportunity is one that should be given to someone who does, in fact, need it or could benefit from it. Now, if the WWE were to give the win to one of these two women I do believe it would go to Bliss over Charlotte simply because she isn' t involved in a strong storyline as of right now and her character is a brilliant pick to walk as Miss Money in the Bank.

The Fan Favourites

Taking a look at social media and reading comments it's clear that Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks are two big fan favorites. Their names are forever popping up when the question as to who should get the win this year is asked. Lynch is someone who really is a standout here. Since her debut, Lynch has been over and a big fan favorite yet her push is something that we haven't really seen take off. Sure she had a run as the Smackdown LIVE women's champion however since then her booking has been fairly week and we've seen so many other women suppress her. This weekend she, of course, is a talent so many want to see walk out with the briefcase in hand and while she isn't my personal favorite for the win I can understand the want to see her take the win. She's arguably the women most in need of the title of Miss Money in the Bank and in all fairness I do believe there is a story to tell. With Asuka likely to get her hands on the women's championship at some point a match and a feud between Lynch and the Empress of Tomorrow would make for a must see not to mention her victory could create tension with her close friendship with Charlotte which has plenty of room to grow and develop!

Sasha Banks is, of course, another name that has popped up plenty of times throughout the Money in the Bank ladder match build up. Her push is another that hasn't always gone to plan. Banks' title reigns have all been very short despite how over she has been and her consistency in the ring. Again, Banks is sure to be. a big part of this match on Sunday night. Her style and skill set is very much suited to this match and her involvement will be huge regardless. We can expect to see her rivalry with Charlotte Flair revisited as well as collisions with several other competitors that will make for standout moments. She is one of my personal favorites for the win. I would love to see a feud between a heel Banks and the future champion Ronda Rousey down the line and could play a brilliant role in kick-starting the growing rivalry between the two sets of the Four Horsewomen. Banks won't be getting a title shot anytime soon and she is going to need something! Her rivalry with Bayley is sure to continue and heat up as we edge closer to SummerSlam and a heel Banks with the briefcase could really heat up that feud and the story there!

My Winner

And finally, we have Natalya who honestly is my personal favorite for the win this weekend. I understand she won't be the pick for many other fans but there is a strong argument for her and she is one of if not the most logical pick! With Rousey very likely to defeat Nia Jax for the RAW women's
championship this Sunday a huge twist I would love to see is Natalya win the Money in the Bank ladder match, become Miss Money in the bank and Cash in on a newly crowned champion in Ronda Rousey seconds after the victory over Jax. We've seen the friendship between Ronda and Natalya made a huge focal point over the past month and I would love to see a rivalry kick start between those two. They have brilliant chemistry, a story to tell and a singles match between them at SummerSlam could be one of if not the match of the night and a huge standout of the year!

And there we go! Those are my predictions for this year's Women's Money in the Bank ladder match! Throughout the week I will be writing a men's version of this post as well as a look at the rest of the card and a look at what to expect on the night overall!
