Potential Future WWE Women's Tag Team Champions

For years fans have been discussing the possibility that the WWE could introduce tag team titles for the women’s division. In the past, we just haven’t seen enough women on the roster making it impossible to create these titles simply because the division was too small. However, for months now the WWE has been developing its women’s division to a point where an all women’s Royal Rumble was able to take place back in January. The recent WWE Superstar shake-up saw teams such as Absolution and The Riott Squad remain together and with the WWE putting further emphasis on tag teams and duos in the women’s division it has sparked huge speculation that the WWE are closer than ever to intruding these titles to the division. Today we are going to be looking at some of the teams we can expect to be put together and/or make history and become the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Keep in mind this post was pre-posted over a month ago and any recent blog posts will be linked below!

The IIconics

In my personal opinion, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are the perfect duos to make history and become the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. As of right now, they are the pair with the strongest chemistry and the most legit relationship. Their work down in NXT was strong, they never turned on one another and have only gotten stronger and stronger as time has progressed. They are one of the main reasons fans have wanted to see tag team titles introduced to the women’s division and when you look at the current roster it's evident these two make the most sense to crown as champions. Of course, Kay and Royce are still new to the main roster only joining Smackdown LIVE after Wrestlemania, a matter of weeks ago, however, they do have momentum on their side, they are a strong unit and together could make for entertaining champions and brilliant options to kick-start this new chapter in the women’s revolution. Not to mention it keeps their momentum high!

Sasha Banks and Bayley

Okay, so they may not be seeing eye to eye as of right now, however, Sasha Banks and Bayley make for very popular decisions in crowning brand new women’s tag team champions. I personally would like to see the win go to a duo that genuinely has great chemistry, work well together and are strong as a team right now, however, I can see the WWE wanting to focus on storyline’s as per usual and looking at the roster its Bayley and Banks who have the bigger story to tell. Forcing the pair to work together makes sense. They both want championship gold, they both want to be at the top and working together in order to achieve that seems like their best option. It allows their story to continue on only for one to turn on the other further down the line. Having these two crowned as the first champions gives these new titles some story, interest, and something to go on more than any other duo that could capture these titles.

The Bella Twins

If the WWE are to in face introduce women’s tag team titles a return from the Bella twins is a must! The pair both made an appearance as entrants in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble and this is yet another chance to have the duo return and make an impact. No team is as strong and as unified as Nikki and Brie and from day one these two have been leaving fans wanting to see tag team titles introduce. There is no stronger bond than twins and its as if these titles are made for these two women. Love them or hate them, Nikki and Brie Bella have gone on to become key figures in the women’s division and their return would be a big deal; putting brand new championships on them does not only help these two superstars but the titles. Big names holding brand-new championships and raising the bar. Collisions with the likes of the IIconics and Absolution make for great viewing and can only help this new section of the division and the women’s tag team titles.

Alexa Bliss & Mickie James

One thing I don’t want to see pushed too much if we are to see these titles introduced is random teams put together who have no chemistry what so ever but there are some women who have developed amazing chemistry and do work very well together and one of those teams are of course Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. The pair have been working on and off together since James made her return to the WWE while both were apart of Smackdown LIVE. The WWE have recently put them back together and it is working. They have good chemistry, they work well together, and they come across as the mean girls of Monday night RAW. The WWE are high on Bliss and with her unlikely to recapture the women’s championship at Backlash something new must be waiting for little Miss Bliss and this may be the best opportunity waiting for her. I would also love to see Mickie James given something strong to work with also. She hasn’t had the big run many wanted her to have upon her return to the WWE and this again is a big opportunity for the WWE to turn that around and make this return mean something adding to her legacy.

Absolution

There are several teams the WWE can put together to create a women’s tag team division and narrowing it down to five isn’t easy but to finish off today we have to include Absolution. Arriving on the scene the same time as The Riott Squad both are in talks to make history and become the first to hold these titles, however, Absolution in my opinion just about overtake the Riott Squad. They do work better together; the chemistry is stronger, and the alliance makes greater sense. They are the team have seen the least of but there is so much potential there. They too bring story, character and the space to grow.

There are so many teams the WWE can put together to create a women’s tag team division and so who would you like to see put together? A return from LayCool? New faces from NXT like Bianca Belair and Lacey Evans? And who would you like to see make history and become the first ever WWE Women’s Tag team champion?
