Seven Things That Must Happen at Money in the Bank 2019

This coming Sunday the WWE will host one of my personal favourite annual PPV’s, Money in the Bank, and what a night we have coming up! With two must-see MITB ladder matches, title bouts, and dream collisions this is looking to be an exciting evening. In recent weeks, there has been a great deal of controversy around the WWE product especially after the introduction of the Wild Card rule, however, will the WWE continue their rough patch this weekend or do we have an epic show coming up? Let’s look at some of the must happens at this year’s MITB pay per view.

 AJ Styles Turns Heel

AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins is a dream match for any wrestling fan. As two of the biggest and best wrestlers in the WWE today fans have been waiting a long time to see these two fantastic superstars collide. Now, the build to this contest hasn’t quite grabbed my attention or left me massively hooked, however, I have no doubt this will go down as one of the best matches of the year so far! In terms of the end result, fans can expect to see Rollins keep hold of the Universal Championship but a twist that sees Styles turn on Rollins effectively introducing a heel persona again is something I would love to see! It’s been a while since we last saw AJ working the role of a heel and his recent move to Monday night RAW means something new is most certainly needed and the angle will give this match and even bigger edge.

Becky Lynch Drops the Smackdown LIVE Women’s Championship

While I’m just as happy as the rest of the world to see Becky Lynch as both the RAW and Smackdown LIVE women’s champion I do believe it's important Lynch drops the Smackdown women’s title this weekend to Charlotte Flair. Now, booking Flair as champion once again is a decision that most likely won’t go down well with fans but it’s a decision the WWE must make and go ahead with this weekend. Keeping just the RAW women’s championship on Becky will allow her to focus on being a full-time member of just Monday night RAW and giving the Smackdown LIVE women’s division the focus they need with the title. Having one superstar hold both championships have done no favours for the women’s division on either brand and separating them again is a move the WWE must make this weekend.

Dominick Turns on Rey

A storyline I personally have really struggled to gain an interest in is the growing rivalry between Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe. Despite the two being so massively talented and experienced something has been missing from this angle and come the Money in the Bank PPV we need to see the WWE add a twist and turn things up a little. With Rey’s son Dominick making frequent appearances and playing a part in this storyline the WWE has an opening here to create a very personal and exciting twist. Booking Dominick to turn on his father during the PPV is an angle I believe the WWE could have pulled off at Wrestlemania but after seeing Dominick appear more since Mania the timing is even better now and this may be one of the only ways the WWE can make this a more interesting story for both these superstars.

First Time MITB Competitors make an Impact

This weekends men’s Money in the Bank will see several superstars make their debut in this stipulation contest. Ricochet, Ali, and Andrade will all look to become Mr Money in the Bank for the first time and together the three of them add a great deal to this already exciting match up. Here we have four very entertaining and athletic superstars sure to execute epic spots and standout amongst the line-up. In terms of whether any of these men will get the win, I believe it’s Andrade who could surprise us all and pick up the huge yet much needed and deserving victory.

Kofi Kingston Retains the WWE Championship

While I, of course, am a huge Kevin Owens fan you won’t be catching me rooting for the former Universal Champion this weekend during his title bout against Kofi Kingston. Kingston has already had such an entertaining reign defending his title against the likes of AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles and Sami Zayn in a triple threat contest and I believe there is so much more to come from this reign. Now, there is a part of me expecting the WWE to give Owens the huge push and book him to walk out as champion but considering the long and tiresome journey Kingston had to become champion it truly would be disappointing to see him drop the title only a month into his reign.

Two Clear Potential Winners

When it comes to the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, I must admit that I have been left very disappointed with the line-up and predict this to be the weakest women’s MITB ladder match we have seen so far. That being said, in my opinion, there are two very clear winners in this year’s contest, Bayley and Ember Moon. While we will argue later in the week the potential the other superstars possess in terms of taking the win its clear these two women are most in need. Bayley taking the win could be the next sign fans need to indicate a fatal four way between the four horsewomen of the WWE could be happening in the near future but her win is also massively deserved after what we have seen from her recently not to mention the opening it gives her to move away from anything Sasha Banks related. On the flip side, we have Ember Moon who I must admit is my personal favourite for the win here. Moon is massively in need of a big victory and becoming Miss MITB is more than deserved, demanded and needed.

The Miz Defeats Shane McMahon

And finally, to my own surprise, one of the angles I have been enjoying the most in recent months is the very personal rivalry between The Miz and Shane McMahon. The two sparingly had an epic matchup at Wrestlemania and their story have continued to keep fans entertained. This weekend we can look to see things come to an end between the two and it's clear the Miz must walk away with the victory! The former WWE Champion came so close at Mania and he really cannot take another loss to Shane this coming weekend. Miz has more than earned this victory and the win will sure lead to even bigger booking decisions in the future!

And those are just some of the decisions I believe the WWE must make this weekend at the Money in the Bank PPV. Later on, in the week, I’m going to be taking an in-depth look at the MITB competitors and discussing their chances of taking the win this year but until then you can get involved and let me know what your predictions are by leaving a comment below or by tweeting me over at @TezangiVictoria.
