Why IMPACT Wrestling Could be The Perfect Place for Dean Ambrose
While IMPACT Wrestling continues to divide fans, I have
mentioned several times before here on my blog that I believe it is going massively
underrated and under-appreciated today. With consistently good storylines,
unique characters and brilliant wrestling it's clear this is a wrestling
promotion we should all be watching and a loyal viewer I must admit it’s one of
my faveourite shows at the moment. Now, it wasn’t too long ago that former WWE
Champion Dean Ambrose officially parted ways with World Wrestling Entertainment
and there has of course been great speculation as to where his career will go
next ever since. Upon rumours suggesting Ambrose (now Jon Moxley) could be heading
to the IMPACT zone, I believe it’s time to look at just why this may be the best
place for him!

OvE
One of the clear reasons why Dean Ambrose should join the
IMPACT wrestling roster revolves around OvE. The Ohio based faction is run or
should we say, controlled by Ambrose’s former Indie tag team partner, Sami Callihan
meaning there are plenty of creative options awaiting the former WWE champion. Whether
it be rivalling Callihan for the spot of leader of OvE or simply joining this
growing faction there are an array of fantastic must-see angles involving Moxley
and OvE including Jon looking to take down OvE one step at a time siding with
Sami’s long term rival, Rich Swann. While we will forever miss Ambrose as part
of the Shield there are still factions calling out for his name far away from
the WWE.
The Company’s Stance on Hardcore Wrestling
Throughout his career, Ambrose has been dubbed as the unhinged
one. Prior to his run with the WWE Moxley always came across as the insane unpredictable
one including during his time alongside Sami Callihan. During his time in the
WWE the company tried there best to showcase him as the dangerous lunatic
booking Ambrose in PG based hardcore matches, however, these bouts never truly
did any good for Dean nor did they showcase his true skill as a hardcore star.
Over in the IMPACT zone its clear that Moxley will have the chance to showcase
his hardcore wrestling talents properly. The company to this day pushes those
extreme bouts and they know full well these stipulation contests go down well
with fans. IMPACT wrestling has a fantastic history with hardcore competition and
with names such as Tommy Dreamer, Callihan, and Eddie Edwards awaiting him its
clear there are a bunch of creative hardcore bouts awaiting Jon Moxley.
History with WWE Talent
Okay, so to be fair IMPACT Wrestling hasn’t always had the
best track record with booking former WWE talent but if we look at recent years
within the company and what we have seen them do with former WWE stars or
talent who have gone on to make a return to the company it's clear there is a
lot to look forward. Johnny Impact, Gail Kim, EC3, Bobby Lashley, and Drew
McIntyre are all prime examples of former World Wrestling Entertainment roster
members who were used far stronger during their time in IMPACT. While Ambrose
had a brilliant run with the WWE there is every chance that when and if he is
to make the move to IMPACT wrestling, he will have the chance to shine even
brighter. It’s here we are likely to see a whole new side to Ambrose’s skill
and I believe the company will make a huge star out of Moxley seeing him climb
to the very top of the roster as did the names we just mentioned did also.
The Competition that Awaits
Say what you like about IMPACT wrestling and the product today
however, there is no denying the brilliant, diverse and strong talent the
roster possess. Because of some of those awesome names, it means that if Ambrose
is to join the roster there really are so many creative options for storylines
and amazing opponents that await him. As we mentioned earlier, there are some
brilliant hardcore talent Moxley could collide with to create something very
exciting but with stars such as Ace Austin, Johnny Impact, Pentagon and more on
the roster there are so many dream match-ups that can be created and many of
which I’m confident could allow the formally known Dean Ambrose to show the
world just how much he was held back at times in the WWE particularly when it
comes to his in-ring talents.
Switchblade Conspiracy Reunion
As we mentioned at the top of today’s blog post, reuniting
Sami Callihan and Jon Moxley is something that has money written all over it
and I know for a fact that I personally would have great interest in such a
reunion. Moving away from OvE however, it’s clear that Ambrose signing with the
company would enable IMPACT Wrestling to try out something new with Callihan.
Focusing on Sami and Moxley teaming up as a tag team alone and re-creating the
Switchblade Conspiracy is an exciting angle that opens so many creative doors
of opportunity. From exciting matchups against the current tag team champs to
eventually possibly seeing one turn on the other, the two being apart of the
same roster again is an exciting prospect with so many amazing creative options
long term fans of both these names would love to witness!
Fitting In
Dean Ambrose is such a huge name that wherever he goes from
this point onwards he sure to be a huge star on that roster, however, when we
look at promotions around the world there are a few that jump out as a perfect
fit for this former WWE champion and in my opinion one of the best matched to
him is, of course, IMPACT. A roster full of crazy, unhinged, dramatic, and experienced
talent there are so many opportunities that await him. Ambrose’s character especially
under Jon Moxley is such a brilliant fit to the IMPACT roster and his style of
wrestling both hardcore and more technical can be shown so well here in this
promotion. Moxley has the experience, the popularity, the unique style, and the
mix of hardcore and brilliant wrestling that allows him to truly be an amazing
asset to this roster and there is no denying that his character and all-around
style is such an excellent fit for the IMPACT Zone.
Star Power to the IMPACT Zone
As I mentioned in the intro, IMPACT wrestling, in my opinion, continues
to go massively underrated and underappreciated. The company has picked itself
up and there are so many reasons as to why you should be tuning in, however, if
there is anyone sure to bring in more views and create a bigger buzz around
IMPACT Wrestling it of course is Mr Jon Moxley. His signing would be huge for
the company and with fans around the world desperate to get their Dean Ambrose
fix there is no denying his name will do so much for IMPACT. He brings a new
level of star power and attraction to the company which is evidently something
it is still in need of.
Now, its clear Dean Ambrose is not short of options following
his departure from the WWE. There are so many promotions who will be desperate
to get their hands on him. While AEW is a huge fan favourite direction for
Moxley (and a place I would love to see him end up in also) it’s clear IMPACT Wrestling
makes for another strong candidate.
