5 Things WWE Must Do When NXT Moves to USA Network
It was recently confirmed that NXT will soon be making the
move to the USA Network airing as a two-hour show. The huge change is sure to
spark an interesting and crucial time for the black and gold brand which could
very easily be the result of the downfall of the most consistent show in the
WWE today. However, with the roster as strong as ever the move from a weekly WWE
network show to a USA network programme could also create many positives for
NXT but just what must the WWE do to ensure the transitions run smoothly and effectively?
Keep Triple H in Charge
When looking at NXT and the main roster shows it's evident
there is a striking difference in the creative direction and management. With
Triple H taking so much control over the black and gold brand there has been a
far stronger and more positive reaction from fans compared to Monday night RAW
for example. Moving forward and heading over to the USA Network it's vital the
WWE keep Triple H at the forefront of all things NXT. While the shift from the
network to USA Network is sure to bring in new audiences a decrease in the
quality of the show due to creative control will be the biggest and most
important downfall for NXT. Being consistent
and keeping the brand strong and unique relies on Triple H’s involvement in the
brand and fans will most certainly be able to pinpoint any backstage changes.
Dedicate More time To the Women’s Division
With the women’s division forever growing it's clear there
are number of names currently not being used on TV despite more than being
ready. The likes of Kacy Catanzaro, Deonna Purrazzo, and Taynara Conti are
amongst those who haven’t had their time to shine on NXT TV due to the limited
time, however, with an hour extra added to the weekly product it adds time for
these women and more to have their spotlight. The NXT Women’s division of course
is stronger as ever but here the WWE will have the time to focus in building
the division more, showcasing more names and creating more in-depth angles for
several female stars including longer bouts on a weekly basis.
Longer Matches/ in Ring Time
While NXT continues to deliver outstanding matches not only
during Takeover events but during the weekly product it's clear the move to the
USA Network and the longer time slot will enable the black and gold brand to
showcase lengthier matches sure to benefit everyone involved and the brand
itself. There have been many bouts to main event or take place during episodes
of NXT where I have just wanted to see the match go on for a little longer meaning
what we saw would have been even better than it was! The longer ring time will
most certainly work in the favour of many talents who don’t get enough time to
compete as well as add more to those awesome must bouts that up until now fans
have been left desperate to see a little more of.
Don’t Follow in the Footsteps of RAW & Smackdown LIVE
The main roster shows sure do have their positives there is
no denying that but over the years both RAW and Smackdown LIVE have come under
great criticism by fans. From lengthy and unnecessary opening segments to short
matches and poor use of the women’s and tag team division the “A” shows of the
WWE has come under fire and it's vital that NXT doesn’t follow in those
footsteps moving forward. The Black and Gold band have their niche and they
know what works, it's important the WWE don’t look to create similarities
between NXT and its main roster shows for keeping NXT unique and creatively
very different has been what has kept the brand such a huge fan favourite over
the years.
Build up Superstars Lost in the Shuffle
There has course been so many positives to NXT’s one-hour
time slot however, it must be noted that the extra hour will surely work to the advantage
of so many superstars. The Black and Gold brand has such an in-depth and strong
roster that can at times be difficult to make sure everyone gets the time they
deserve. As a result, the likes of Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic, Shane Thorn
and the Forgotten Sons haven’t had as much of a spotlight as they may deserve.
The extra hour the black and gold brand now have will open up more opportunities
and allow these names and more to find a spotlight they have needed for a
while.
While I personally have my concerns about NXT making the move
to the USA Network, I do believe this could be a positive change that could
benefit so many superstars on the roster. The extra hour will sure help the
women’s division and some of the names who have been overshadowed by the bigger
talents the company have wanted to push first. We could also see a greater focus
on the North American Championship and storylines around that title too.
