WWE NXT Review and Reactions Post 1/6/16

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all well and good! This week I have decided to finally bring back my NXT Review and Reactions post. I have been saying for weeks that I will be brining back these posts to my blog and I have loved brining it back this week and writing this post. I honestly forgot just how much I enjoy writing these reviews. I am going to try and make these a weekly thing because they do go down well and I do love writing them. Just a quick note, I will be live tweeting throughout next weeks NXT Takeover; The End show and during the kick off show as usual. If you would like to see a review and reactions post than do let me know down in the comments section bellow and I will get onto that next week. The huge news sent the internet wrestling community crazy and all week long I have been watching videos and listening to podcast that delivered mock drafts, keeping me very very entertained if I must say so. I am planning on writing up a couple of blog posts disguising the brand split including a list of five WWE Superstars that will benefit the most from the new brand split. If you have any request as to what blog posts you would like to see regarding the brand split and live Smackdown let me know down in the comments section bellow. As always any recent blog posts will be linked bellow and you can let me know what you thought of this weeks show by either leaving a comment in the comments section or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

With only one week until NXT Takeover: The End, the superstars set to participate in the live special took it upon themselves to make one last impact ahead of the show. This weeks NXT focused greatly on creating that final push getting the fans and superstars excited and ready for what is set to be yet another huge NXT live event. The show kick started with former NXT Tag team champions the Revival who stood in the centre of the ring boasting about their achievements and promising to become the first ever two time NXT Tag team champions when they take on the current champs and the men that took the titles from them in the first place, American Alpha. Now, over the past couple of weeks we have seen new stars, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa create a huge impact in NXT running through tag teams left right and center proving that one day we will most certainly be watching them compete for tag team gold. With their momentum high and fans strongly behind them these two are becoming one of the most must see tag teams  in NXT today and last night they continued to make an impact when they interrupted the Revival during the opening of the show. Stating that Dash and Dawson not only were incapable of defeating American Alpha but also Gargano and Ciampa. The former champions showed to take zero offence and instead walked out of the ring to close the opening segment after spitting out some verbal abuse. Personally, I liked the opening this week. I know I always say it but one of the things I love the most about NXT is how every single division gets it time in the spotlight both opening and main eventing episodes every other week. The tag division in NXT continues to be very strong and this opening last night only proved that once again.

Over the past couple of months we have sat back and seen the demise of Buddy Murpthy, Wesley Blake, and Alexa Bliss. Up until then the three superstars had spent a great deal of time working together to compete in brilliant matches and take part in very entertaining storyline's. But it was a thew weeks back that we saw Alexa make it perfectly clear that she no longer wanted anything to do with both Blake and Murpthy and ever since then we haven't really had any clarification as to what is happening with Blake and Murpthy as a tag team. During last nights episode of NXT it was Wesley Blake who competed in one on one action for the first time in god knows how long when he took on the perfect ten, Tye Dillinger. The match wasn't the longest in the world but it was a fun easy watch match that had more meaning behind it than it may have come across so. Dillinger started out in full control and with the crowd strongly  rallying on behind him he looked to be working towards a quick victory over one half of the former NXT Tag team champions. But the quick minded Murphy was able to turn things around using the ropes and his surroundings to slow down Dillinger and take control. Going down to the matt Murphy focused on wearing down his opponent taking all the energy away and slowing down the pace of the match. Throughout his time in control he would mock Dillinger and work the crowd as good as a solid heel would do but his antics would slowly allow Dillinger to once again regain control and a serious of sharp shots and ten elbows to the head set up the perfect ending and a clean victory for Tye Dillinger. Yes, Tye Dillinger actually won a match! Again, it was an easy watch match that I got into very quickly and I really liked the background story and how well Graves and Phillips were getting that across. You guys know all too well that Blake and Murpthy are one of my favourite tag teams so I do seriously hope this is not the end of them.

Next week in the main event of NXT Takeover; The End, Finn Balor and Samoa Joe will battle it out one last time for the NXT Championship however this time the action will take place inside a steel cage, the first ever steel cage match in NXT history. As promised the two competitors came face to face ahead of their match up last night in a sit down interview with Corey Graves. There isn't all that much to comment on here but what I will say was I honestly did really like how it was conducted. This has been such a well written and thought out storyline and Balor and Joe have been nothing short of amazing throughout. In the interview last night everything came across so real and personal and it certainly did the job in getting me and I'm sure many others even more excited for what is sure to be a phenomenal match between these two superstars.

Last week William Regal made the official announcement that new guys Austin Aries and Shinsuke Nakamura will go one on one at next weeks NXT Takeover; the End live special. Since arriving on the scene both superstars have been extremely dominate and it was only a matter of time before the two collided in the ring. Earlier on in the night we heard from Shinsuke in backstage interview but it was Aries who was in action during the show when he took on Elias Samson. Now, I'm not the biggest Elias Sampson fan but say what you want about him he really is doing a fantastic job competing against big big name superstars and actually managing to put on solid matches. I have to admit that slowly he is certainly winning me over. In their match up last night Aries took early control with his experience and agility coming into play completely dominating Samson. Even when Elias looked to be turning things around Aries was easily able to counter the move perfectly and remain firmly in the drivers seat. However, it was the brilliant ring awareness from Samson that saw a shift in the match when it came to control. For short while we got to see that darker aggressive side to Elias and for a decent amount of time he remained in control of Aries. But of course there was only one way this match was going to end and it was only a matter of time before Austin took over once again and eventually was able to force Samson to tap out. I did enjoy this match a lot more than I was expecting. I have to admit that I have been a touch disappointed with Aries since he arrived in NXT. It is still early days but at the moment he isn't as over as I was expecting him to be and his performances haven't been as strong as I was expecting either. However, saying that I'm one hundred and ten percent sure that his match up against Shinsuke Nakamura next week at Takeover will be a true highlight of the year.

Following what happened at the top of the show last night we got to witness a brilliant tag team match up between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa and the number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships, the Revival. I was seriously looking forward to this match. We have two truly fantastic tag teams and four brilliantly talented superstars, this was sure to be a match up no one would want to miss and I really did let myself sit back and enjoy this one. There was back story behind this match making it so much easier to get into and have that emotional feeling towards it. The action was strong, fast paced at times, and full of brilliant wrestling. This really was tag team wrestling at it's finest. Now, Dash and Dawson walked into this match furious and in desperate need of momentum ahead of their championship match next week. What I love about these two is how they give off the impression that they genuinely are mad and frustrated. Throughout the match you felt their frustration and it felt as though they absolutely hated  Ciampa and Gargano. Their furious tactics allowed them to gain control early on in this match and their aggressive attitude insured that their opponents took a real big beating. Throughout the match we also got to see just how brilliantly Dash and Dawson are able to work together. Their team work in this match was great and they showed the NXT Universe what to expect from them next week in their championship match. Now, despite the the early strong start for the former tag team champs Gargano and Ciampa sure did not sit back and let them take over. After Ciampa spent a great deal of time in action and taking a strong beating from the revival he was able to quickly make the tag despite the revival's best effort to isolate him from his partner. Once Gargano was in action the pace of the match changed completely and there was a clear shift in control. Now, I was personally completely expecting to see the Revival walk out with the victory but to my surprise it was in fact Gargano and Ciampa that picked up the hugely important victory.  I completely was not expecting the match to end the way it did but I honestly loved it and these guys really are getting the push the deserve and making their way to a tag team championship match. Of course Dash and Dawson did not take their loss very well and went straight on the attack sending out a message to the champs who soon made their own appearance of the night and cleared the ring of both Dash and Dawson.

Closing this weeks show was the contract signing for the NXT Women's Championship match set to take place next week at NXT Takeover: The End between current champ Asuka and the number one
contender Nia Jax. Three weeks in a row we have seen Nia close the show completely dominate and this week when she stood toe to toe with the champion she showed no feat and gave herself even more momentum heading into her championship match next week. Now, I love Asuka, I honestly think she is nothing but amazing but last night it was all about Nia Jax in my eyes. She took control from the moment her music hit right to the closing moment of the show. She walked down to the ring looking strong and focused and when Asuka made her way to the ring her facial expression didn't change and the drive was still there. Her words to Asuka were kept clear and every word she said only added more heat to her character and made her look even more dominate. While Asuka held her own perfectly and had the crowd firmly behind her the closing moments saw a huge powerbomb from Nia to the champ and  have to say the impact and how it came across on TV had me in complete awe of Nia. I know she gets a lot of heat but this is a women who really is ever improving and I'm very very interested in seeing what goes down between these two next week at Takeover.

This was the perfect go home show for takeover. Every match set on the card got its time in the spotlight last night and the final big push towards every feud had me completely interested and excited for next weeks show. During takeover next week I will of course be live tweeting and that includes the kick off show. If you would like to see a review than do let me know! As always you can let me know what you thought of last nights show and what your predictions are for NXT Takeover: the End by leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.
