Five Reasons To Be Excited About First ever Womens MITB ladder Match

Hello everyone and welcome back to Talk Wrestling World, I hope you are all doing well and good! So it's Wednesday and usually today would be the day I recap the action from the previous nights episode of Smackdown LIVE in a highlights post but the past couple of days has seen a number of those posts already uploaded and so today I wanted to upload something a little different. I've mentioned recently that I want to start uploading new content here on my blog even if that means going a couple of weeks with only a few posts actually going up. Now, today's post is going to be Smackdown LIVE related and is inspired by last nights show but if you want to know what I thought of the show completely you'll have to wait for next Monday where I will recap all of the highlight moments from this week in the world of wrestling. For today we are going to be focusing on the Smackdown LIVE women's divison. During last weeks show commissioner Shane McMahon made the huge announcement that in just a few weeks time Tamina, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya, will all compete in the first ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match. There had been rumors of this happening for a while and its something that fans have wanted to see for the past few years. With women's wrestling coming so far it really was only a matter of time before they were given this opportunity and I couldn't be happier that this match is taking place. Every single one of the competitors deserve their place in this history making match up. In the opening of last nights show the reveal of the new briefcase was made and it actually really is a beautifully designed briefcase. In today's blog post I'm going to be focusing on this huge news and this massive match as I list five reasons to be excited about the first ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match. As always, any recent blog post will be linked bellow and you can let me know what you think of this match and who you who you have down as your winner by also leaving a comment bellow or by tweeting me at @TezangiVictoria.

A History defying Match

Just like the majority of you reading this post right now I have been a fan of pro wrestling pretty much my entire life and I have been watching the WWE product for a very very long time. During that time I have had real up and down relationship with women's wrestling. When I was kid there really wasn't much to be inspired by as far as women's wrestling was concerned. While I was able to look up to women such as Chyna, Lita, and Trish Stratus to name a few, wrestling was still considered to be a mans world and the women in the company were very much used as sexual objects and eye candy. Five minuet matches here and there and poor storytelling and character development it was difficult to maintain an interest. However, the arrival of NXT several years back allowed that to completely change and since then women's wrestling has come so so far. Seven years ago there was no way we would be able to sit here and talk about women's hell in a cell matches, extreme rules matches, Iron man matches, and falls count anyway matches. NXT opened so many doors for women in this sport and gave a generation of young girls something to look up to and admire to be like. Over the past three years in particular we have seen the divison go from strength to strength with women breaking down barriers and taking part in matches they simply never would have had the opportunity to compete in. As we reach the middle point of yet another year we can officially say that the WWE and its women's divison are looking to once again make history. Since it started, the Money in the Bank ladder match has always been all about the men. For years we have seen some of the best (and admittedly the worse) superstars compete for the chance of becoming Mr Money in the bank and lets be honest, we have seen some pretty damn awesome MITB ladder matches however the thought of a women's Money in the bank is something that hasn't been on the WWE's radar. Fans including myself have over the years mentioned it. Personally, I have always loved the idea of a women's Money in the Bank but over the years the WWE have never jumped on the idea. Now, there has been women that would have been more than capable of taking part but it's never been something truly in the works. Since the Women's revolution movement the chances of this match taking place has increased and over the past two years in particular I have spent some time discussing the possibility of this match happening and as I mentioned in the intro today it really has been just a matter of time. We have seen so many history making matches over the past couple of years and a MITB ladder match was most certainly next on the cards. Now, this really is a huge deal and I'm honestly so excited. It's amazing being able to see these women given the opportunity to do something that just a few years ago wasn't on the cards. It enables these women to edge even closer to feeling as though they are completely equal to the male superstars and gives little girls around the world an even bigger reason to aspire to one day step in the ring with the opportunist being as equal to what men are being presented with.

An Opportunity for Particular Superstars to Shine

While the women's revolution has done nothing but good, we have seen several ground breaking, history making matches, plenty of character development, and an increase in actual entertaining and gripping storylines, there have been a number of female superstars that have struggled to make an impact. Out shined by new names from NXT, veterans such as Natalya, Alicia Fox, and Tamina haven't been used as well as they should be and have continued to be mistreated by the company. It's safe to say that throughout their careers each of these women have gone completely underutilized  and while I hoped they would finally be used correctly during this new era in women's wrestling they have all had their struggles and remain in the shadows will younger more over superstars are given bigger opportunities. The money in the bank ladder match is a big big deal and will be the opportunity two out of those three women need and deserve. Tamina and Natalya are of course very talented women. Natalya in  particular has gone down as one of the most underrated and underutilized WWE superstars of all time. Hardcore fans will most certainly be aware of the fact that Nattie if damn right brilliant in that ring. Her wrestling ability is something not many other female competitors can touch and if she was actually given the chance to showcase her skills the entire world be obsessed with her. What has held her back over the years is her character. Wrestling most certainly isn't the issue here with Natalya. We have seen her compete in some truly fantastic matches over the years particularly against Paige and Charlotte down in NXT and throughout parts of previous matches up on the main roster she has shown everyone what she is capable of doing in that ring and it's perfectly clear she is a damn well amazing pro wrestler. However, her lack of charisma, poor character and weak mic work have meant that the WWE just haven't invested enough time in her and really given her the push she deserves. Tamina on the other hand has pretty much never really been used to her best abilities and she's never been given the chance to actually compete in a standout match. There's no performance from her that I can honestly say has impressed me or allowed her to shine. Now, both these women have exactly what it takes to be huge stars if the WWE just invested enough time and effort into them. Looking at the Money in the bank ladder match and the line up I don't believe one of these two women will get the win. In a dream world I would defintley give the victory to Natalya because in all honesty she deserves it more than anyone but at the same time I would also consider giving the win to Tamina for the sheer shock factor but realistically neither of these women are likely to actually take home the victory. However, I strongly believe that Natalya and Tamina will both be huge standouts in this match. I'm hoping Tamina in particular will finally have the performance she has always needed making this the night she finally makes an impact and shows everyone what she is capable of. I'm expecting her to be one of the standout stars of this match and of the night and to be honest the same can be said for Natalya. This really is a huge opportunity for both these women to make a stand and impress.

The Element of Surprise

The one thing I love about the Money In the Bank is the element of surprise. A lot of the time you tune into one of these matches and genuinely don't know for sure who will be walking away with the victory. Throughout this history of the Money in the Bank ladder match I have been left completely surprised with the end result and its one of the things that makes this match one of my favourites. The line up is always interesting and everyone every single year will have different opinions, backing different superstars. The announcement of the first ever women's Money in the bank has given off the same vibe. If you take a look at the women competing in this match it really is anyone's game and any one of these women could walk out of this pay per view the first Miss Money in the Bank. Already I have read so many arguments for each of these women and personally I have no idea who could walk away with the win. We have Becky Lynch who is clearly a huge fan favourite and one of the more popular names in regards to the winner of this match. We then have Natalya and Tamina who we have already spoken about but with Nattie deserving this huge opportunity and Tamina being the perfect surprise winner to really shake things up. Charlotte is slightly less popular pick but with the WWE so high on her and her making history I can defiantly see that happening. And then finally we have my personal favourite, Carmella. Her alliance with James Ellsworth puts her at an advantage and the chances of him playing some kind of role in this match is pretty likely. We also know that the WWE have been high on Carmella and I can still see her getting a nice big push at some point. I am going to touch on a surprise entrant later on in the post there is also that to consider. I love how unpredictable a money in the bank ladder match and with so many valid arguments for each of these women its gonna be really interesting seeing how this match is run and what the actual end result will look like. I love watching an unpredictable match and this is exactly what we have here. This is also giving the women's divison that element of surprise that it just hasn't had. We have a big moment coming up in the divison because of this match. It's something completely new for women's wrestling in the WWE and its going to present this new level of attraction and attention to the divison that we haven't seen before. It gives us something to look forward to and anticipate which we really haven't been able to have in the divison and I'm honestly so excited for the future.

SD Live Women's Division has a Chance to make an Impact

This next point kind of ties in with what we just touched on but this history making match really is set to do some fantastic things for the Smackdown LIVE women's divison. As we reach the one year point since the brand extension it's only now that the Smackdown LIVE women's divison are finally going to get the chance to compete a much higher level. During the start of the brand split there really were mixed opinions about the women's divison on both brands and how the female talent was being used on each show. While the blue brand did a fantastic job using every women on the roster over on Monday nights we were seeing Sasha Banks and Charlotte booked in these huge history making matches and despite the fact I loved that every women was being used in some way or another on Smackdown they weren't being given the opportunities the women on RAW were being given (well, Charlotte and Sasha anyway) and I so desperately wanted to see more and see them booked in these big matches. Over time however, it became clear that the slow approach was working. They were taking their time to really build a divison and now we have almost reached that one year point we are seeing the women of Smackdown LIVE being given the chance to compete in bug history making matches. I also find the timing very interesting. If you have been reading my blog over the past couple of weeks and seen some of my tweets you will know that I haven't been the biggest fan of the current work from the women's divison over on RAW. The women's championship- match we saw at Extreme Rules was one of my least favourite matches of the year so far and did nothing for neither women. Not to mention the fact that we are only just starting to see all of the female talent being used. Smackdown LIVE has always done a great job booking the entire divison and the slow build up has worked in their favor. We now have  five of the Smackdown LIVE women competing for a chance to become the first ever Miss Money in the Bank and of course giving them the chance to really make an impact. These girls have provided some solid matches since the brand extension but this is there chance to really steal the spotlight. It's the opportunity the women of the blue brand have been waiting for and I really do believe they are about to change the game completely and give the women of Monday night RAW a real run for their money.

A Surprise Entrant?

And finally, as we mentioned earlier, we have to take a look at the chances of a sixth women entering the money in the Bank Ladder match. During this weeks episode of Smackdown LIVE I tweeted out that I wasn't happy with just how many women are competing in this match and mentioned that I was really hoping to see at least one more name added to the mix. This is a huge match and five competitors just does not appear to be enough at all.. They really do need to throw at least one more women in there to just fill this out a little more. Now, it will be difficult to book another women
considering Lana was flat out denied the chance to compete in this match when she debuted this week but I do believe that its needed. I''m glad Lana has a match for the pay per view, I don't feel as though she get a title shot, she really should have been put in that Money in the bank ladder match but I'm hoping things work out for her. She's over like mad right now and the WWE would be stupid not to take advantage of that. As as far as another women goes I have to throw Summer Rae's name in the mix. Yes, she was originally drafted to RAW but over the past couple of weeks she has been backstage at Smackdown LIVE and we all know that she is now injury free and ready to return to action. How they would write her into this match I don't know but another name is needed and she really is a good name to put in the picture. Summer is seriously underrated and deserves the chance to be able to make some kind of impact. In an ideal world I'd love for someone like Billie Kay to go into this match and have the help of Peyton Royce to actually win but I know that most certainly won't happen and is more likely something we will see in a years time but hey a girl can dream! In all honesty I'm not entirely sure the WWE will have any plans on adding another name to this match but I think we can all agree five just isn't enough and I really really do hope they find a way of adding another competitor to this match.

As a long time WWE fan I cannot tell you just how happy I am to see that we are finally being given a women's Money in The Bank ladder match. It's been a long time coming and every single one of these women deserve this spot. I really do think this match is going to be one of the standouts of the year and could so easily be one of the best matches of the night. I'm honestly so excited and over the next couple of weeks I am going to have more posts about this match so keep an eye out for those.
